Programa de Estudios 2016-2017

1. Los Objetivos
We are here to build our competency in

the Spanish language across 5 areas:

Communication, Culture, Comparisons,
Connections, Communities.

Our goal in 7-8 Spanish is to communicate

at the INTERMEDIATE MID level on
the ACTFL Proficiency scale.

What does this mean?

You can use an expanded vocabulary within
a topic.

You can combine simple sentences to create

larger original statements.

You can be easily understood by someone

accustomed to language learners.

2. Las Expectativas: La Conducta

Be in your seat when the bell rings.
You may drink water. Please, no food or gum.
Communicate with respect and kindness.

Come to class prepared for work and for fun.

2. Las Expectativas: La Tecnologa

The use of technology in class is a privilege, not a right. Please keep cell
phones in your backpack unless asked to use them for an assignment. Please
DO come to class with your laptop or other permitted device. I reserve the
right to revoke a machine being used against class instructions or
inappropriately at any time. But, please don't make me do that.

2. Las Expectativas: Los Materiales

Please come to class each day with the following items:
1. a smile
2. your best effort/attitude

3. your laptop
4. Your textbook: As Se Dice 4
5. earbuds
6. a binder, with paper and/or a notebook and 5 dividers
7. plenty of writing utensils

You can expect to have homework daily.

You can expect to have 2-5 quizzes each

Homework has many purposes.

You can expect to have 1 test each unit.

You can expect to be quizzed on items and

(That doesnt mean you always will, but

you can expect it).

Sometimes, its given for a grade (points).

Sometimes, its given simply for practice
(not always graded). I will let you know the
purpose of the assignment when its given,
and if you arent sure, please ask.

3. Las Notas
We follow the EGRHS grading scale

found in the Student Handbook.

Daily participation (in all four language
domains) is essential for the health of your
grade!
Breakdown
Interpretivo: 10% (leer, escuchar, actividades
en la comunidad, tarea)
Presentacin: 90% (proyectos, pruebas, orales)

Absences and Late Work

1. Turn in all work on time. If you are absent,
your work is due upon your return.

2. Late work is not accepted for credit.

3. Any test or quiz missed due to an excused
absence can be made up within one week of
the absence. Please make arrangements with
Sra. Harmon.

Be sure to visit our class website for updates to
the calendar and other APPROVED online
resources!

We use Google Classroom here! Please check our

Google Classroom and Calendar every day for
assignments and class messages. (NOTE: the
assignments on the Google Calendar are due the date on
which they appear. )

A Few Words About Integrity

I hate to have to say this, but
Plagiarism is a serious offense and will have dire
consequences in this classroom. If you are caught cheating
on any assignment, quiz, test, project, etc., you will fail said
assignment, and you will forfeit your opportunity to make
those points up. This includes the use of online translators
(Google Translate, SpanishDict, etc.,) to write original
answers or material. This will be further explained in class.
Also... once something is published online, just assume its
out there FOREVER. Whether you delete it or not. Please
keep this in mind when learning online.
ALSO.... if you see something unsafe or inappropriate
going on with regard to our Spanish class, online or just in
general, please let me know as soon as you can.
