Spiritual formation. Michaela grew up at
First Baptist and is now joining our staff to work with children and families. Her first
day on the job was September 1 and we will welcome her officially with a reception
following each service on September 11th.
Michaela is a sophomore at KU this fall, studying music therapy. Her free time is
occupied by ensembles, homework, and reading when she gets the chance. Her passions are helping people, music, and as of late, Game of Thrones.

Northeast Area Meeting, September 11


The annual meeting for the Northeast Area will be held at West Side Baptist Church, 1008
S.W. 4th St., Topeka, Kan., on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 11, 2016. Registration (no cost) will
start at 2:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 3:00 p.m.
This time of fellowship, business and music will also be an opportunity to hear from Associate
Executive Minister, Rev. Nathan Marsh, as well as join in conversations around topics of interest to the local church. In lieu of an offering, participants are asked to bring baby wipes and/
or diapers (size 5) for the churchs baby closet ministry.
There will be separate programming for newborn-K, children (grades 1-6) and youth (grades 712). As a fund-raiser, West Side youth will provide an evening meal for a free-will offering. Advance registration is needed. For more details or to register, please contact the church

Bethel Neighborhood Center's Capital Campaign is in it's last


month. They are looking for donations and/or pledges by the end of
September to reach the funds needed to match a challenge grant of
$250,000 from the Mabee Foundation, and to reach their total goal
of $2 million. The challenge grant monies can be pledged over a 3year time period, and do not have to begin immediately. $162,000 is
still needed. The campaign will provide for greater safety & security,
enhanced classrooms, remodeled public & administration spaces, a
more energy efficient building, a new Whole Life multipurpose
room, an improved playground, new garage & campus parking, and
an expanded food pantry. To contribute online, please go to

Childrens Corner
September 7: Sacred Music Academy resumes. Open to
all 3rd through 8th graders, their friends and the community. Rehearsals are every/(most) Wednesday evening
from 6:30-7:30 p.m. $20 payable at first rehearsal. If you

those managed by Hungarian Baptist Aid (HBAid). She will
also assist with discipleship ministries of the Baptist Church in
Debrecen. Jon will assist the Baptist Church in Debrecen with
its evangelistic outreach, church planting and church development
ministries, and will assist in the training of Christian leaders
through the Unions seminary. Amanda and Jon will also work
with the church planting efforts
