English 10 RX

Mr. Storrie, Mrs. Churgin & Ms. DiPierri

Welcome to a new school year! In order to insure that our classroom

runs as smoothly as possible, we would like to introduce you to our
classroom rules and expectations.
***You can access a digital copy of these rules and expectations, as
well as locate any missing assignments, on our class website:
www.mrstorrie.weebly.com
Materials
1.Large three ring loose leaf binder with loose leaf paper and a folder
2. A package of 3x5 (can be larger) index cards.
3. Writing utensils for each day.
4. Highlighter
Classroom Rules
1. Raise your hand and wait to be called on.
2. Do not speak while others are speaking.
3. Be in your seat and working on the opening activity when the bell
rings.
4. Bring all books and materials to class.
5. Follow directions the first time they are given. If you have a
question, please raise your hand and wait to be called on.
6. Respect your teacher and your classmates. This is a collaborative
classroom; we are all working together in this environment and any
disrespect is toxic to a collaborative environment.
7. Do not bring any electronic device (Ipod, Ipad, cell phone, etc.) or
other distracting device (toys, gadgets) into the classroom, unless
given prior permission.
8. Use the bathroom BEFORE the final class bell rings.
We fully expect that these rules will be followed at all times. If you fail
to follow these rules, you will receive one verbal warning. If the
inappropriate behavior does not cease, you will be disciplined
according to the rules of the Student Handbook. A collaborative
classroom should be a safe environment where learning is the top
priority.

Classroom Procedures

1. Get to class on time. Tardiness will not be accepted. You are being
inconsiderate towards your teacher and your classmates, not to
mention that you are cheating yourself out of valuable learning time.
2. We expect that you will enter the room in an orderly fashion. Once
you have arrived, please sit in your seat, take out your notebook, and
do the opening activity that will be posted on the board (Normally
labeled: Do Now). It may be Vocabulary, or a writing/discussion prompt
related to the current unit.
3. You must be prepared for every class. It detracts from learning time
if we have to locate a pencil or paper for you. If you forget your
materials, there is a bin on the front desk with pencils, pens, and
paper, which you can borrow for the period. Quietly get what you need.
This is not to be an everyday occurrence. You are expected to obtain
the necessary school supplies.
4. Homework should be completed before class begins. You should not
be scrambling to finish it when the bell rings. NO LATE HOMEWORKS
WILL BE ACCEPTED. Assignments that are turned in a day late will
lose points. Major papers or projects will lose 5 points each day it is
late. If you fail to make up late work 7 days after it is due, you
cannot turn it in for credit. You are held accountable for all
assignments. After THREE missing homeworks, a parent/guardian will
be notified.
5. If you are absent, you are still responsible for the work that you
miss. Any handout from class on the day you were absent will be
placed in the corresponding daily basket located near the teachers
desk or may be located on the class website (mrstorrie.weebly.com). It
is your responsibility to check the baskets and class website if youve
been absent. You will have as many days as you were absent to
complete the work. Extensions will be given only for extenuating
circumstances (death in the family, medical emergency, etc.).
6. If you miss a movie, you are still responsible for covering that
material. Please discuss this with Ms. Churgin or me.
7. Please complete your assignments in legible ink or typed in size 12
font, Times New Roman.
