Objectives
Understand the characteristics of a different current mirror topologies.
Design and analyze seven different current mirrors meeting certain constraints.
Evaluate the DC operating point of each transistors in each design.
Procedure
In this lab, the each BJT and MOS circuits designed from the pre-lab was constructed.
The amplifier was designed to fit the following constraints shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1: BJT and MOS Current Mirror Design Constraints
Using a chosen value for the output voltage and current of each mirror, the base,
collector, and emitter resistances were calculated for each BJT transistor. The drain
resistances were calculated for each NMOS and PMOS transistor. After the resistances
were known, the small signal parameters were found and lastly the output impedance.
The output voltage swing was then observed by sweeping the voltage supply of the DC
input. Table 1 shows the values for the output current, output resistance, and voltage
minimum/maximum for each particular circuit.

Discussion
Output currents for each circuits were measured and met the given specs. We swept
output voltage from 0 to Vcc and recorded the minimum voltages. According to given
equations, we designed and analyzed seven different current mirrors meeting certain
constraints.
Conclusion
In this lab, we have built 5 simple current mirrors using both BJTs and MOS. From this
lab, we have a better understanding of the characteristics of a different current mirror
topologies, and we became more familiar with the procedures of how to design and
analyze seven different current mirrors to meet given constraints.
