1InstructionforUse

1.2UseofTouchScreen
Touch the screen with one of your fingertips or the top of the forward edge of a
fingernail, as shown in the following figure. A broad point of contact may lead to
inaccuratepointing.

When the touch screen is less sensitive to the touch, you can perform screen
calibrationthroughmenuoperations.Press[Menu][System][Calibration]on
the screen anda crossicon willbe displayed. After youtouchthe center ofthe
crossatfivelocationsonthescreencorrectly,thesystemautomaticallyreturnsto
themainmenu.Press[Return]toreturntotheinitialinterface.Fordetails,see5.8
ScreenCalibrationinthismanual.
Smearorduston thetouchscreenmayaffecttheperformanceofthetouchscreen.

1) Enter numbers. Press the [User ID] key. The system automatically
displaysthenumberinputinterface.AfterenteringtheuserID,press

andthenpress[Save]tosaveandreturntothepreviousinterface.

1.6.11:NFingerprintVerification
Inthefingerprintverificationmode,theterminalcomparescurrentfingerprint
collectedbythefingerprintcollectorwithallfingerprintdataontheterminal.
1. Place your finger on fingerprint sensor by adopting the proper finger
placement when the device on the initial interface For details, see 1.1 Finger
Placement.
2. If the verification succeeds, the system will generate a voice

Inthe1:1fingerprintverificationmode,theterminalcomparescurrent
fingerprintcollectedthroughthefingerprintcollectorwiththatinrelationtotheuser
IDenteredthroughkeyboard.Adoptthismodeonlywhenitisdifficulttorecognize
thefingerprint.
1.Press[1:1]onthescreentoenterthe1:1recognitionmode.

2.EnteruserIDandthenpressthe"Fingerprinticontoenter1:1fingerprint
recognitionmode.Ifthe prompt Unregistered user!is displayed,the user IDis

In the password verification mode, the terminal compares the password
enteredwiththatinrelationtotheuserID.
1.Press[1:1]onthescreentoenterthe1:1recognitionmode.

2. Enter user ID and then press the "Key icon to enter 1:1 password
recognitionmode.Ifthe prompt Unregistered user!is displayed,the user IDis
nonexistentortheuserIDbearerhasnotenrolledhis/herpassword.

3. Enter the password and press the OK icon to start the password
comparison,

Only the products with a builtin ID card module support the ID card
verification.TheproductswithabuiltinIDcardmodulesupportthefollowingtwo
verificationmodes:
IDCardOnly:UsersonlyneedtoswipetheirIDcardsforverification.
ID+FacialVerification:AfterpassingtheIDcardverification,youalsoneedto
performfacialverification.
Forthesettingsofthesetwoverificationmodes,see5.4CardParameters.

1)IfyouhaveyourIDcardnumberenrolledinthesystem,youcanpassthe
verificationbyswipingyourIDcardattheswipingareainaproperway.

2 Main Menu

2MainMenu
There are two types of rights respectively granted to two types of users: the
ordinary users and administrators.Ordinary usersare onlygranted the rights of
facial,fingerprint,passwordorcardverification,whileadministratorsaregranted
the access to the main menu for various operations apart from having all the
privilegesgrantedtoordinaryusers.
PressMenuKeyontheinitialinterfacetoaccessthemainmenu,asshown
inthefollowingfigure:

Addauser
Setwallpaper
SetDate/Time
UserMgt.:Throughthissubmenu,youcanbrowsetheuserinformationstoredon
theterminal,includingtheuserID,name,fingerprint,card,passwordandrights
add,modifyordeletetheuserinformation.
Comm.: Through this submenu, you can set related parameters for
communicationbetweentheterminalandPC,includingtheIPaddress,gateway,
subnetmask,baudrate,equipmentNo.andcommunicationpassword.
System: Through this submenu, you can set systemrelated parameters,
including the Date/Time, Camera settings, fingerprint, card parameters, log
settings,recoverset,autotestcalibrationandupdate.
DataMgt.:Throughthissubmenu,youcanperformmanagementofdatastored

on the terminal, for example, deleting the attendance record, all data and
promotionalpictures,purgingmanagementrights.
MySetting:Thissubmenuenablesthesystemtoautomaticallytestwhether
functionsofvariousmodulesarenormal,includingthescreen,collector,voice,facial,
keyboardandclocktests.
Flashdisk:Throughthissubmenu,youcanimportuserinformationandattendance
datastoredinaUSBdiskorSDcardtorelatedsoftwareorotherfingerprint
recognitionequipment.
SMS:Youcansendamessagetoassignedpersonthroughpublicorpersonway.
Afterthisstaffverifiedsuccessfully,thismessagewilldisplayonthescreen
Record: For query the record saved in the device, query record function is
provided.
SysInfo:Youcancheckthestoragestatusaswellasversioninformationofthe
terminalthroughthe[SystemInformation]option.
BiopadAllow users to check the Biopad ID information and service support
information.Includingspecialarea,authorizedservicer,serialnumber,
localservice,Chinahotline,networkservice.

Any usercan accessthemainmenu by pressingthe Menu keyif the


systemisfreefromadministrators.Afteradministratorsareconfigured
ontheterminal,theterminalneedstoverifytheadministratorsidentity
beforegrantingthemaccesstothemainmenu.
Toensureterminalsecurity,itisrecommendedtosetanadministratorwhenusingthe
terminalinitially.Fordetailedoperations,see3.1.3.

3.1.AddingaUser
Press [Add User] on the [User Mgt.] interface to display the [Add User]
interfaceasshownbelow.

UserID:EnterauserID.1to9digituserIDsaresupportedbydefault.
Name:Enterausername.24characterusernamesaresupportedbydefault.
Role:Settherightsofauser.Auserissettoordinaryuserbydefaultandcan
also be set to administrator. Ordinary users are only granted the rights of
fingerprintorpasswordverification,whileadministratorsaregrantedtheaccessto
themainmenuforvariousoperationsapartfromhavingalltheprivilegesgranted
toordinaryusers.
Password:Enrollauserspassword.1 to8digit passwordsaresupportedbydefault.
Fingerprint: Enroll a users fingerprint and the terminal displays the number of
enrolledfingerprints.Ausercanenroll10fingerprintsatmaximum.
Photo:Enrollausersphoto.Duringuserverification,theusersphotoisdisplayedonscreen.
IDcard:EnrollausersIDcard.
TheIDcardisanoptionalfunction.Ifyouneedthisfunction,pleaseconsult
ourcommercialrepresentativesorforesaletechnicalsupportpersonnel.

3.1.1EnteringaUserID
The terminal automatically allocates anID startingfrom1for every user in
sequence.IfyouusetheIDallocatedbytheterminal,youmayskipthissection.
1. Press [User ID] on the [Add User] interface to display the user ID
managementinterface,asshownbelow:

Tip: The user ID can be modified during initial enrollment, but once
enrolled,itcannotbemodified.
2. On the displayed keyboard interface, enter a user ID and press

shown below. If a prompt message The user ID already exists! is displayed,


enteranotherID.

Tip:Theterminalsupports1to9digituserIDsbydefault.Ifyouneed
to extend the length of current user ID numbers, please consult our

Tip: If you registered to this step to save and exit, it will not save the

3.1.5EnrollingaFingerprint
1. Press [Fingerprint] on the [Add User] interface to display the [Enroll
Fingerprint]interface,asshownbelow.

2. Onthedisplayed[EnrollFingerprint]interface(asshownbelow),placeyour
finger on the fingerprint sensor properly according to the system prompt. For
details,seeFingerPlacement.

3. Place the same finger on the fingerprint collector for three consecutive
times correctly. If the enrollment succeeds, the system will display a prompt
messageEnrolledSuccessfully (asshownbelow)andautomaticallyreturntothe
[Add User] interface. If the enrollment fails, the system will display a prompt

messageandreturntothe[EnrollFingerprint]interface.Inthiscase,youneedto
repeattheoperationsofstep2.

4.Youcanbackuptheenrolledfingerprintofauserbypressing[Fingerprint].
Ausercanenroll10fingerprintsatmaximum.

5. Press [Save] to save current information and return to the previous


interface. Press [Exit] to return to the previous interface without saving current
information.

Press [Capture] to display the photo taken at the lower left corner, as shown

On the [User Mgt.] interface, enter the user name through the Character
SelectionBartolocatethecursortothedesireduser,asshowninthefollowing
figure:

ByselectingacharacterfromtheCharacterSelectionBar,youcanquickly
locatetheuserswhosenamesstartwiththischaracter.Usersarelistedin
alphabeticalorderbylastnamebydefault.

4.CommunicationrelatedSettings
Youcansetrelatedparametersforthecommunicationbetweentheterminal
and PC,includingtheIP address,gateway,subnetmask, baudrate, device No.
andcommunicationpassword.

4.1NetworkSettings
When the terminal communicates with the PC over Ethernet, you need to
checkthefollowingsettings:

IP Address: The IP address is 192.168.1.201 by default and can be changed as


requiredtheIPaddressoftheterminalandthatofthePCcannotbeduplicated.

SubnetMask:Thesubnetmaskis255.255.255.0bydefaultandcanbechanged
asrequired.
Gateway:Thegatewayis0.0.0.0bydefault.IftheterminalandthePCarenot
locatedinthesamenetworksegment,youneedtosetthegateway.
DNSServer:TheIPoftheDNSserveris0.0.0.0bydefaultandcanbechangedas
required.
CommKey:Toenhancethesecurityofattendancedata,youcansetapasswordfor
theconnectionbetweentheterminalandPC.Oncethepasswordisset,youcan
connectthePCwiththeterminaltoaccesstheattendancedataonlyafterentering
thecorrectpassword.Thedefaultpasswordis0(thatis,nopassword).Oncea
passwordisset,youneedtoenterthispasswordbeforeconnectingthePCsoftware
withtheterminalotherwise,theconnectionisunsuccessful.1to6digitpasswords
aresupported.

4.3WIFIoption
