Flat Top Antenna DAF003, DAF004 and DAF006

1.1

Introduction

The DAF flat top antenna is one of the high-quality products to be found in our product line.
Supported by our ASR and DSE reader electronics an efficient and powerful RF-ID
configuration can be integrated into your equipment.
The antennas are constructed of heavy-duty materials and can therefore be applied under
extremely hostile conditions. They are, most important, insensitive to humidity and dirt.
The equipment protective classification is IP 68 according to EN 60529.

1.2

Installation

Ensure, if possible, that the antenna is not subjected to continuous sun exposure. Select a
location for its installation in surroundings that is not or hardly exposed to UV light penetration,
as this will be beneficiary to its operational life. Avoid mounting the antenna in the immediate
vicinity of metal objects, which may easily affect its frequency stability. It is for this reason that
we advise to tune the reader only after installation of the antenna. Also its mounting immediately
on metal surfaces may limit the range of transmission of the antenna. In such circumstances we
advise you to contact your dealer.
When mounting the equipment, make sure to use only countersunk screws with a maximum
thread size of 5mm and use them with plain washers.
The equipment never should be fixed by countersunk head screws, as they may easily damage
the plastic frame.
The connecting wire to the reader electronics must be held in position by cable clips; so that its
lying loose cannot be a cause of danger. The line shall not be extended.
Consult the operators manual of the DSE or ASR reader for the connection of the reader
electronics.

2. Double Antenna DAF203 and DAF206

2.1

Introduction

The double antenna is one of the high-quality products to be found in our product line.
Supported by our ASR and DSE reader electronics an efficient and powerful RF-ID
configuration can be composed with a more powerful and greater range of coverage.
The antenna is constructed of heavy-duty materials and can therefore be applied in extremely
hostile conditions.
The equipment protective classification is IP 68 according to EN 60529.

2.2

Installation

The two antennas are mounted on both sides of the field to be covered, in such a way that the
upside surfaces of the antennas (elevated sides) face each other.

DZA001
Reader

Mounting the antenna in the immediate vicinity of larger metal objects may affect not only its
frequency stability but also reduce its range of transmission.
The two antenna connecting wires are connected to the connector box DZA001. The connecting
wire has a length of 2 meters. If required it may be shortened, but should never be lengthened.
Place the two PG screw fittings, supplied with the DZA001, in the prepared housing openings
and feed the wires through.
The wiring of the two antennas in the connector box DZA001 produces two different kinds of
fields:

2.2.1

Anti-parallel field production

Suitable for a broad range of transponder orientation

For application in Germany
Concentrated field
Non-homogeneous/uniform field for various transponder configurations

How to connect the antenna cabling from the DZA001 to the DSE (resp. ASR) reader
electronics is described in the operators manual of the DSE reader. To achieve optimum reader
quality the connecting wire of 2 meters may be shortened in such a way, that for the double
antenna with a possibly longer antenna cabling the total cabling between the DSE reader and
the antenna can be as long as 2.5 m.
Ensure that the reader is tuned only after the mounting procedure of the antenna has been fully
completed. For security reasons the connecting wires must be held in position by cable clips.

Safety and care

The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage resulting from improper use or use not
consistent with that described in these operating instructions.
The DAF antenna contains no parts that can be repaired by the user. For this reason it may
only be repaired by authorised customer service personnel.
In both operation and storage of the antenna please secure to comply with the environment
conditions specified in the technical data.
Clean the DAF antenna only with a damp cloth. Use only water and any commercially
available cleaning agent.
Any modification to the DAF antenna will render the warranty null and void.

4. Warranty
The manufacturer of the DAF antenna will provide a warranty of
12 months
from the day the device is shipped and subject to the following conditions:
a. Without submission of proof of purchase no warranty can be given.
b. In the event that defects are detected the manufacturer is entitled to choose between up to
two attempts at repair or supplying a replacement device on one occasion. The warranty
period for the repaired item or for a replacement item is 3 months but will always extend to
the end of the original warranty period. No further claims can be entertained, especially
claims for compensation for consequential losses. This exclusion of liability does not apply to
claims made on the basis of the Product Liability Act.
c. Warranty claims cannot be entertained unless the Agrident system was installed properly
and used properly and for the purpose intended.
No warranty obligations exist in particular when:
1. Damage is attributable to improper use of the device, to a incorrect connection or incorrect
operator action;
2. The device was not cared for and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's
recommendations and this is the cause of the damage;
3. The damage is due to any modification to the device;
4. The damage is due to force majeure, for example, lightning strike;
5. The damage is due to wear resulting from overstressing mechanical parts.
