Active Rainbow

the project

Exchange Project
15th - 24th of February 2016
Ommen, The Netherlands

Why Active Rainbow :

Using Playing as a method :

Learning to play, playing to learn.

In todays societies around Europe, young LGBTQIA+ people continue to face discrimination and social
exclusion, because of their sexual orientation and gender identity.

Through this project we will provide to all people participating, a safe space and opportunity for them to
become aware of their own self-expression, growth and identity. In this way they can later on contribute on their
own to support the LGBTQIA+ rights in their own communities.

Mission of the project :

To promote social inclusion and combat discrimination of young LGBTQIA+ people in society.

Goal and Context of the YE :

The way, in which we organize and run this international Youth Exchange project, is to make the objectives,
out line and program of the youth exchange clear to the participants. In this way we create a playing field for
participants and group leaders, in which we can play to learn and learn to play.

Within the given group, you take part in the exchange for yourself and with yourself as an individual.
You are the actor of your own learning and creator of your own experience. By choosing your own involvement in
the exchange, you lighten up the path to your own learning and desired outcomes.

Through activities designed to raise personal awareness, you, as a player will have the chance to discover
and explore patterns that shape your emotional expression and integrate it in a social context. The diverse
activities are created in a way to encourage self-expression and to support you in discovering your personal style
and connection to emotions.

To challenge your cooperation, communication and planning skills and to confront your creativity and
greatness. These activities will be done either individually, in pairs, in small groups or in the big group. By working
in an intercultural context together with the rest of the actors, you have the chance to create togetherness and
support each other throughout the whole duration of the project, while enjoying.
We create the context. You make the play.

Active Rainbow aims to work on the personal development of young people who are in need of exploring
their identity and who they are. We will create a safe environment and space for them to be able to exchange and
gain knowledge and skills on LGBTQIA+ rights, history, culture, issues and needs in each country.

To exchange tools on how to organize an activity in local communities and for the participants to
create new informal educational tools, which they can later on implement during the follow-up period and beyond.

Objectives :

During the exchange, you will have the opportunity to work by doing with :
Reflection groups, in order to reflect on your learning process and goals in a daily basis

body, how comfortable and uncomfortable we feel in our body and liberating ourselves
