Introduction
Health issues have become something that is considered common or normal in todays society. People
regularly deal with problems with their mental health, physical health, emotional health and spiritual
health, which only increase as one advances in age. Western medicine has offered a solution, but one
that does not last and can subject persons to dangerous side effects.
If you are someone who has been dealing with the continuous onslaught of physical, mental, emotional
and spiritual deterioration for some time, you are likely wondering if there is any alternative to the
pills and potions prescribed to you by your general healthcare provider. There is an alternative and
that is Reiki.
In this book, you will learn about the ancient healing modality that is Reiki, and how it can help you in
your day to day life. Reiki can help you to heal on every level, using the channeling of universal
energy to correct emotional and mental ailments, as well as those affecting the fragile human organs.
We will discuss the history of Reiki and where it comes from, as well as what it can be like to
receive a Reiki healing session, as well as steps that can be taken to become a Reiki practitioner. We
will also talk about the five principles of Reiki, Reiki symbols and the three pillars of Reiki healing.
In this book, you will even learn about the seven main chakras, as well as what they are linked to and
how they affect your mental, spiritual, emotional and even physical well being. You will also get
some tips on how to employ Reiki healing in your day to day life in order to protect yourself and
others from negative energy which can disrupt your energy flow and lead to chakra imbalances.
So what are you waiting for? To get started on the path towards healing, read on.

Chapter 1: The Basics of Reiki (101)

To learn about how to use Reiki to increase your energy, as well as reap its healing benefits, you must
first understand what it is, fundamentally. In this chapter, we will discuss some of the basic
knowledge about Reiki that you will need to know before you proceed.

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a healing technique, which was first invented by Mikao Usul, a Japanese Buddhist, in 1922.
The Rei in Reiki means the all knowing divine universal, and Ki means the energy which
animates everything that is alive. This energy flows through all living things, including plants, animals
and of course humans. Reiki is used by people all over the world in many different faiths, cultures
and spiritual paths.
Used as a way in which to heal energy, Reiki uses the practitioner as a conductor for universal
energy, so that they can balance the chakras as well as remove blockages in them. Reiki healing can
be either hands on or hands off, and can help to reduce or relieve physical pain and discomfort
by balancing the energy centers within the body. It is a natural method of relaxation and healing. Once
your bodys energy flow becomes balanced, you are more likely to feel relaxed, and your body will
be able to use its natural healing abilities when it is under less pressure.
The reason why Reiki can be such a powerful experience is because it gives your chakras and your
body access to the energy of the universe. Your body takes what it needs from this flow of energy and
heals itself. Infusing the energy of the universe into areas of the body that are physically or
energetically lacking through Reiki is the first step of the healing process for your body.

What is a Reiki Healing Session Like?

Every Reiki practitioner can have their own unique methods for conducting a session, but it is
common for a practitioner to have a consultation with their patient before they begin to perform a
treatment. This builds up the connection between the two, and it also gives the practitioner insight into
what the patient would like to take care of during the session. This allows the practitioner to take the
time needed to explore the necessary issues during treatment, as well as whatever may need to be
healed.
Some patients find that the consultation and communication before treatment can be the first step of
their healing process. Consulting with ones practitioner about the expectations of the session will
open up your chakras so that they can express their needs as well.
The next step, after the consultation or assessment is the beginning of treatment. This usually begins
with the patient lying on the table as the practitioner grounds his or herself, standing in silence on one
end of the table. The practitioner communicates to the universe at this time that they are open for the
channeling of Reiki energy and that their higher selves are fully present.
They also serve as a representative for the spirit guides and higher self of the patient, communicating
that these are also present, and confirming that the session of Reiki is for the greatest good of both the
patient and the practitioner, which means that it is a safe space for the patient and that he or she is
fully open to receiving Reiki energy. This is very important because since you and the practitioner are
both opening up yourself energetically, it is important that you be protected.
There are Reiki symbols, each of which have their own purpose. These symbols are the keys to the
higher mind or higher state of consciousness and can only be used by the practitioner once he or she is
properly attuned. Reiki symbols can be drawn both physically, or mentally before the Reiki session.
You may be wondering what exactly Reiki feels like. A Reiki session is a full body experience. You
will probably feel some warmth, coolness, traveling of energy throughout the body, or complete and
utter relaxation. Some people see colors or visuals, others take a nap. It is not necessary to be
conscious for a Reiki session to be effective. No matter what, the universal energy will do its job.
A Reiki practitioner moves through the body going from chakra to chakra, taking extra time where
needed. At the end of the treatment, the practitioner will lightly touch you to signify that it has come to
an end. Then they will check to see that you are feeling okay and what new or different sensations you
may be experiencing.
When looking for a good Reiki practitioner, you should make sure to do your research and follow
your gut feeling, or intuition. Just like with anything, there are some good Reiki practitioners, and
there are some bad. It is important to find a practitioner whom you connect with and feel able to trust.
You can visit their website, and read their bios, testimonials and yelp reviews. You can also ask
questions like: What are your Reiki sessions like? What should I expect during a treatment with
you? How can Reiki help me to heal my particular health issue? What is your level of Reiki
healing ability? Remember, though, in the end, you should follow your instinct.

Chapter 2: Reiki Energy and its Healing

Benefits
Reiki is a healing practice, for sure. However, it does not only heal your body physically, but it also
heals your mind and even your emotions. It also helps you to deal with negative patterns and recurring
mental images. In this chapter, we will discuss a few of the many benefits there are to gain from Reiki
energy.

Compliment Medical Treatment

Reiki can heal those physical illnesses which leave doctors at a dead end, so to speak. Some have
been able to relate stories of females who were unable to conceive becoming pregnant after a few
Reiki sessions. It has also been said that Reiki can speed up the bodys ability to heal itself, as well
as relieve pain and reduce blood pressure. It can also defend against illness by supporting the bodys
immune system. You can also reap the benefits of better sleep, as well as improving your bodys
ability in removing toxins.

Solve Problems
Reiki can also be an aid in problem solving. For instance, if you have problems within your family, at
your workplace, or anywhere else, Reiki can help you to balance them. It will help you to finish
things that need to be complete, solve your problems and add the element of harmony to your life. It
will help you to release stress and tension as well as aid you in spiritual growth and cleansing your
emotions.

Develop Psychic Ability

Receiving Reiki treatments can also be a pathway to developing psychic abilities. You can clear you
chakras, removing and blockages and getting in sync with your psychic intuition. This will lead you to
psychic awakening. Reiki energy also helps to clear your mind and improve your focus.

Personal Growth
Because Reiki helps to clear your blockages and improve focus, you will be able to speed up your
spiritual growth, following Reiki treatment. You will be able to eliminate negative habits, as well as
improve your life and regain your passion for it. Beginning Reiki is the first step on a path to become
a better person. It will dissolve your energy blockers and allow for a natural balance between your
mind, body and spirit.

Help Others
Reiki also allows you to help others by channeling to people, animals and plants. You can even
channel energy to food and electronic devices, places, events, and even the past and the future.
Reikis healing power is not limited to the physical body, rather it can heal everything.

Chapter 3: The Principles and Symbols Used in

Reiki
Reiki healing is founded in five basic principles. It also uses a series of symbols in order to focus
mediation of the patient and the practitioner, and thus allow the energy to be channeled more
efficiently. In this chapter, we will discuss the five principles upon which Reiki is based, as well as
its symbols, both sacred and non-traditional.

The Five Reiki Princples

I. Just for today, I will not be angry.
Anger harbored against others, or even at oneself can create blockages in ones energy. In Reiki
teaching, anger is considered the most complex inner enemy. Reiki can help to remove blockages
caused by anger that may have built up in the body over an extended period of time, however it has
only a limited effect on that anger which arises daily. Thus, being able to let go of anger will bring
true peace of mind.

II. Just for today, I will not worry.

In contrast with anger, which comes as a result of events that have taken place in the past or are
happening presently, worry deals with events in the future. Although worry is not always negative,
when it becomes endless and lingers in one mind, it can bore several small holes into the body and
soul. Worry requires Reiki energy to be spread throughout the body in order to heal the damage
caused by it. Letting go of worry will allow the body to truly and completely heal.

III. Just for today, I will be grateful.

Gratefulness comes from the heart and grows inward. The most important element in this principle is
the inner intention. Things as simple as giving thanks and forgiveness, smiling, sharing goo words and
being grateful can improve your life and the lives of others and bring true happiness. Being thankful
allows for the spirit to be joyful.

IV. Just for today, I will do my work honestly.

One should seek to support oneself and ones family through a respectable means, that brings no harm
to others. Living an honorable life and working honestly adds abundance to the soul.

V. Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.

Always seek to honor ones parents, teaches and elders. Being kind to others brings love into the will.

Sacred Reiki Symbols

The symbols which are sacred to Reiki healing can help you to make your personal meditation
practice more clear. They can also improve your ability to channel the healing energy that is the key
element of Reiki. Each sacred element affects a certain realm.

Cho Ku Rei: The Power Symbol

This is a symbol that promotes cleansing and purifying. It also protects and is associated with the
physical body.

Sei Hei Ki: The Emotional Balance Symbol

This symbol represents harmony and love. It helps to balance ones emotions.

Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen: The Distance Symbol

This symbol allows for connection. It is used to perform distance healing across time or space.

Dai Ko Myo: The Master Symbol

This symbol brings mastership and empowerment when used. It can also be used to pass Reiki
attunements as well as during treatments and meditation.

Non-traditional Reiki Symbols

Some of the symbols that are used by Reiki practitioners today do not come directly from the original
teachings of Mikao Usui. In order to use these and learn more about their use, you will need to locate
a Reiki teacher who can give attunements to the symbols in this list.

Cho Ku Rei (reversed)

This is to be used with the sacred, Cho Ku Rei when you desire to manifest something.

Tibetan Dai Ko Myo-s

This symbol is used as a substitute at ties for the original Dai Ko Myo Master symbol. Some prefer to
use this to the original symbol.

Tibetan Fire Serpent

This symbol is using during the process of attunement and it stand for the Kundalini energy, or
snakelike coils. These are visualized at the base of the spine, and the energy travels upward through
the coils. It cleanses the chakras, and joins them as well.

Raku
This symbol is used in certain branches of Reiki in order to eliminate the gap between student and
teacher following attunements.

Zonar
Zonar is believed to work across time in order to heal issues from past lives.

Harth
Used as a symbol for the heart, this symbol helps issues pertaining to love and compassion.

Halu
Halu is an amplification of the Zonar symbol, which is used for balance and love.

Antakharana
Various branches of Reiki healing use this symbol as a tool for meditation and healing.

Om
Om is a sanskrit symbol that is well known for its use in many Eastern practices, including yoga. It
represents the sound of the universe and is often chanted. Some branches of Reiki use this symbol for
initiations.

Chapter 4: Western / Traditional Reiki Difference?

There are two main schools of Reiki healing practice. These are the Western Reiki style, and
Traditional Japanese Reiki. In this chapter, we will discuss the differences and similarities between
the two.

Western Reiki
This is the most common form of Reiki practice today. Its origin comes from Hawayo Takato, who
learned Reiki from Chujiro Hayashi, a direct student of Mikao Usui. Hawayo Takatas style of Reiki
has become very successful, helping millions of people across the globe. She focuses mainly on the
healing element of Reiki. In fact, her first line of experience with Reiki came from being able to heal
herself after falling victim to some potentially fatal health problems. Naturally, then, as a Reiki
practicioner, she would focus on healing potential.
Over time, there has been many additions to western Reiki practice. It first had its significant shift
from traditional Reiki when it became adopted as a Tibetan healing practice. The practice was
passed on by the cousin of Takata, Iris Ishikuro, who made the path to becoming a Reiki master much
more accessible. This caused Takatas style of Reiki to spread all over the rest of the world.
Presently, western Reiki still focuses more on the process of healing as well as ones hand positions
and attunement. There is also a focus on the chakras, the concept of which is Indian in origin. Western
Reiki also makes use of guided meditation. This is the style of Reiki that is familiar to most.

Traditional Japanese Reiki

Mikao Usui, the original father of Reiki arrived at his discovery after spending his life in meditation,
practicing martial arts and Tendai Buddhism. His main goal in creating Reiki was to use it as a path to
enlightement. He was believed to be a descendant of Samurais, and his practice of Reiki was more
synonymous with being a life style. A Reiki practitioner would be expected to change his or her life
and begin to live in a balanced way. In fact, Mikao is quoted as saying, If you cannot heal yourself,
how can you heal others.
Traditional Reiki uses a Japanese system of energy, which focuses on the Hara. It also includes five
components, which are intertwined. In this form om Reiki practice, the meditations are traditional and
often include the use of breathing techniques which help you to access energy directly from the Hara,
which is its source. Practitioners of this style of Reiki often feel the energy channeling through
themselves at once.
In traditional Japanese Reiki, the symbols and mantras represent two different things. The symbols
are perceived as training wheels, so to speak. Once you have been able to form a connection with the
energy that they represent, you do not nee to use them anymore. Mantras in Japanese Reiki are
practiced in the style of Buddhism. They are chanted in order to create a vibration or sound that has
healing properties.
Whereas in western Reiki, attunement is commonly practiced once, in traditional Japanese Reiki, it is
done as many times as needed in order strengthen the energy of the practitioners. The five principles
of Reiki are very important in this practice style and a Reiki practitioner is expected to meditate on
them and live according to them from day to day.
The style of Reiki that you choose to practice depends on what you think fits your lifestyle and which
your are drawn to.

Chapter 5: The 3 Pillars of Modern Reiki

There are three pillars of Modern Reiki. These are usually presented as a ritual before treatment
which helps to enhance the Reiki session. The three pillars allow the Reiki practitioner to connect
with their higher self as well as the Reiki source. The three pillars are Gassho, Reiji-ho and Chiryo.
Each pillar has its own individual attributes, and when harmonized as one, there is a deeper
connection to intent. In this chapter, we will briefly discuss each pillar.

Gassho
Gassho is used to center the Reiki pracittioner before giving a treatment. It is a form of meditation that
an be done by bring ones palms together in front of the chest and keeping the eyes closed. The
attention should be focused on the tops of the fingers while the mind is cleared of everything else so
that the energy can flow.
Gassho has several parts. These include breath, centering, meditation and asking for the Reiki energy
to flow through you. As one takes the Gassho position, they must apply the appropriate breathing
techniques as well as set their intention to prepare for the session.

Reiji-ho
Reiji stands for the indication of Reiki Power. Ho means methods. This is a request for the
energy to be turned on. In order to do this, three steps must be taken. First, the Gassho position must
be assumed, and one should ask that the Reiki energy flows through them. Then one must request that
the energy be used for the good of the client, by stating I ask that the Reiki be used for the highest
good of [name of client].
The final step involves holding ones hand in front of the third eye, located just above and between
the eyebrows, and asking that the hands be guided to where the energy is called for. One can also ask
Reiki Spirit Guides to assist at this stage. The statements can be said in ones mind rather than out
loud, as well. Connecting with oneself and ones guides can probe to be the hardest step for many
Reiki practitioners, because it requires trust in oneself and Reiki.

Chiryo
The meaning of Chiryo is treatment. This is the pillar in which the treatment is given to the patient.
Treatment can be done in a preferred setting, either on a couch or a chair. It normally begins at the
clients head on their crown chakra. The processes of moving through the three pillars put the Reiki
practitioner into a centered state of mind, in which they are better able to connect to the Universal
energy. One must accept that it is the energy that does the healing and not the practitioner. Once a
practitioner enters Chiryo, the ego should be abandoned as the Reiki is allowed to guide their
movements.
When the three pillars are used effectively, the practitioner and the client can both receive guidance
and healing from the treatment.

Chapter 6: Chakras in the Context of Reiki

The hand placements used in Reiki healing usually target the seven major chakras as well as the
secondary chakras, which are also important. The secondary chakras are often dysfunctional and
discolored, and sometimes even completely closed, due to problems in the mind, body or spirit.
Being able to keep the chakras functioning properly is very important to ones health because
disruptions in energy flow cause illness. In this chapter, we will discuss the concept of the chakra in
Reiki, as well as the different chakras and what they have an effect on.

What is the Chakra?

The term Chakra originated in the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit. It literally means vortex,
spinning wheel, or circle. The chakras turn in a clockwise direction and resemble a spinning fan.
Each individual chakra spins at its own frequency, which allows the ki, or the universal life force, to
be drawn into the body, keeping the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual elements of the body
healthy and balanced. When releasing unwanted ki or dealing with other people or situations, the
chakras spin outwards.
Chakras are the channels through which energy enters and leaves our bodies, both physically and of
the aura. They are found within every level of our aura, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, so
they affect every part of the being. This means that when we have good feelings, such as relaxation
and happiness, our chakras are spinning openly and evenly, which creates a balanced aura that is well
protected. However, when we are feeling depresion, anxiety, stress, and other similar emotions, then
the chakras will be depleted and this will also affect our aura. Over time, these negative emotions can
drain the chakra completely and begin to affect ones well being, and this is where Reiki healing
comes in.
The worry and stress that come naturally as a part of our daily lives causes blockages in our energy
centers. Holding on to negative thoughts causes our chakras to become tainted with dense energy and
this in turn has a constricting effect on the flow of energy through our chakras, which is the root of the
sluggish, or unbalanced feeling that people often get. A block is a place where energy has become
trapped due to this, and Reki gets the energy moving in order to deal with a block. As the energy
flows through the whole body, it replaces dissonance and imbalance with harmony, and helping to
bring the chakras into alignment and balance them.
Each chakra is a part of the entire energy system, so no one chakra works independently of the others.
An individual chakra can only work fully when the others are also fully engaged. Each of them as a
role that balances an aspect of our life, whether it is physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. Thus it
is essential in maintaining good health to know whether or not our chakras are balanced and if not,
how unbalanced they are.

The Seven Chakras

There are seven main chakras. The first three deal with physical and material issues, and are often
termed the lower chakras. the other four, from the heart chakra up, have to do with spiritual issues,
and are called upper chakras.

Root Chakra: The Spirit of Life

The root chakra can be found at the base of the spine, and it is an element of our foundation. It
represents earth and has a direct correlation to our survival instincts, or the need for food, shelter and
protection. It also activates the urge for us to take care of ourselves and defend ourselves in order to
maintain life. In addition, it appeals to the sens of grounding and connection that we have with our
physical bodies and physical world. When fully functioning, this chakra brings a sense of security and
presence.
This chakra is associated with the color red, and is linked to the adrenal glands, kidneys, spinal
column and leg bones. When this chakra becomes imbalanced, one can become afraid of life,
withdrawing from physical reality and sustaining feelings of victimization. It can also cause selfish
actions and vulnerability to violence. Imbalance of this chakra can also cause problems in the feet,
legs, and lower back.

Sacral Chakra: The Spirit of Health and Purity

This chakra, the sacral chakra, is located in the abdomen, lower back and sexual organs. It is
associated with the color orange. It is related to the element of water, and controls our emotions and
sexuality. It works to provide a sense of ones inner self or inner child. It is also the place from which
creativity and inspiration stems. It controls our cravings for sensation, whether they be sound, smell,
taste, touch or sight. When working properly, this chakra brings depth of feeling, as well as sexual
fulfillment and the ability to accept change.
The parts of the body which the sacral chakra are related to are the gonads, the prostate gland, the
reproductive system, the spleen and the bladder. An imbalance in this chakra can cause over
indulgence in sex or food, as well as sexual or reproductive disorders and feelings of jealousy and
confusion. Self esteem issues can also be negatively or positively affected by this center of energy.

The Solar Plexus Chakra: The Spirit of Knowledge and Wisdom

Associated with the color yellow, the solar plexus chakra is also called the power chakra, and is
located at the solar plexus. It mainly functions as a means of supply energy in the form of heat, power
and enthusiasm. It rules the consciousness of decision, creative expression, personal power, will and
autonomy. It can even have an effect on ones metabolism. When this chakra is balanced, it brings
energy, effectiveness and spontaneity. It also allows one to become aware of the divine guidance
flowing into ones life.
This chakra is connected to the pancreas, liver, digestive tract, stomach, spleen, gall bladder and
autonomic nervous system. It is also strongly connected to intellect, and is the seat of our personal
power. The energy of this chakra can help to turn ones hopes and dreams into reality, and allow self

confidence and a clear sense of direction and purpose in ones life. Problems in this chakra can cause
insecurity about physical and financial matters and the necessity to dominate other people. Physical
problems which can stem from the imbalance of this chakra can include digestive disorders.

The Heart Chakra: The Spirit of Evolution

The heart chakra is connected to the color green, and is located directly at the center of the chest. It is
directly related to love and compassion and links the lower or physical self to the higher or spiritual
self. The balanced state of our fourth chakra allows for one to love deeply, feel compassion and feel
peace and centeredness. It is the center of love and emotional well being and develops our ablity to
both give and receive unconditional love when it is functioning at its best.
When it is not however, one can experience feelings of sadness, fear and anger. The heart chakra is
related to the thymus gland, the heart, the lower lungs, the circulatory system and the skin and hands.
When it is not working properly, it can result in heart disease.

The Throat Chakra: The Spirit of Truth and Expression

The throat chakra is identified with the color blue, and is related to communication, as well as
creativity and self expression. It allows for free communication which helps us to feel centered and
happy. It also helps to guide meditation, allowing for connection with our higher guidance. It is
connected deeply to the soul and inner self and allows us to listen as our soul speaks. When the throat
chakra is working optimally, it can allow us to speak and listen in the spirit of truth as well as
constructively express our anger and other emotions, both negative and positive. Adding energy to
this chakra can help to improve psychic ability.
The throat chakra is linked to the thyroid gland, throat and jaw area, vocal chords and digestive tract.
When it is blocked, communication suffers, and one may overindulge in eating and drinking in an
attempt to distract from a non communicative throat. This can cause respiratory diseases, dental
disorders and low self esteem. Feelings of anger, hostility and resentment are also linked to the poor
functioning of this chakra.

The Third Eye Chakra: The Spirit of Clarity and Psychic

Awareness
The third eye chakra, which is indigo, is also known as the brow chakra. It is located slightly above
and between the eye brows. It mainly works as the center of inner vision and is the place of intuition
and soul knowledge. It allows for the opening of psychic and spiritual awareness and causes
understanding of archetypal levels. A balanced third eye chakra allows for insight and knowledge.
This chakra is associated with the pituitary gland, lower brain, left eye, ears, nose and central
nervous system. This is the chakra which is susceptible to the most blockage. Blockage of the third
eye chakra leads to fear of the imagination, dreams and irrational thought. In the physical body, an
imbalance of ones third eye can cause persistent headaches, as well as insomnia, anxiety and
depression.
The Crown Chakra

The crown chakra is linked to the color violet and relates to consciousness as pure awareness. It is
located at the top of the head and represents our connection to the collective consciousness and the
world beyond. It is widely believed that this is where the soul enters the body at birth and departs at
the time of ones death. When it is balanced and well developed, it can bring knowledge, wisdom,
understanding, spiritual connection and harmony. A highly developed crown chakra also allows one
to understand the oneness of universal existence and experience true inner peace, removing the
separation between ourselves and other beings.
Expanding the crown chakra allows us to have access to the highest sources of spiritual wisdom as
well as enhance our psychic knowing. This chakra is related physically to the pineal gland, upper
brain and right eye. When it is blocked it results in feelings of loneliness, fear of death and a need to
compare ourselves to others.

Chapter 7: Reiki Breathing Methodology

In Reiki, breathing methods and techniques are one of the elements which are used to hep change
energy flow and assist healing. Learning these breathing techniques can be the first step in knowing
how to use the energy changing process to effect healing. Reiki uses deep breathing technique which
allow one to become more conscious of the chakras in order to promote healing, as well as to tap into
universal energies more easily. When practicing Reiki, the breath goes through three stages, which we
will discuss in this chapter.
The first type of breathing that one uses when practicing Reiki is called short breath. This is most
similar to the way that people normally breathe as they go about their day to day activities. It includes
breathing through the nose and feeling the upper part of the lungs before exhaling. While practicing
short breath, one should take note of the fact that they are inhaling universal energy and releasing
negative energies when they exhale.
The next tier of breathing involves filling the lower body in the area of the stomach and diaphragm.
When inhaling at this point, one should notice the belly expanding. Upon exhaling, the belly should
shrink. This is considered to be a full breath, and is often used in meditation.
The third stage of breathing takes place as one pictures themselves filling their rib cage with air. This
is a complete full breath. When practicing this breathing method, one should be filling the lungs
first, then the diaphragm, and then expanding the breath into the ribs. This will slow down the breath
so that one can summon the universal energies.
In order to help with the breathing techniques in Reiki, some imagine that their breaths are light. Thus,
when inhaling, one imagines the light filling the chakras through the breath and with the mind and
thoughts, the light can be directed to any area that it is needed in. This helps to begin the movement of
various energies that have previously been blocked.
Many people use these breathing techniques in various types of meditation as concentrating on breath
allows for a more relaxed state. This can allow universal energies to begin flowing through the body.
Reiki breathing methodology is more effective when practiced consistently, of course and in a
disciplined way. When a person practices Reiki alone, the breath is the first step that allows for use
of Reiki techniques in healing. By beginning with proper breathing, the remainder of the Reiki
process will be more fulfilling.

Chapter 8: Crystals in the Context of Reiki

Crystal healing is an ancient art which relies on the subtle energy releases of different crystals. Today,
crystals are use in watches and in jewelry as crystal healing is becoming better known as an effective
complementary medicine. While using crystals for healing is not directly connected to Reiki healing,
many Reiki practitioners like to employ the use of crystal alongside Reiki.
Adding crystals to Reiki sessions can be helpful because of the inclination of the human body to
connect with physical aspects of our world. Adding crystals to a session can give an extra amount of
support which tells the cells that they are in a safe place and can relax to the point where natural
healing can take place.
All kinds of stones can be used in Reiki sessions, even the ones that may seem ordinary to us, such as
quartz and granite. Even these have resonant frequencies that can communicate healing messages to
our bodys cells and energy fields. In order to help organize which stones should be used for which
chakra, we will discuss some of those which are suggested for each of the seven major chakras.
However, it is important to remember that each person is different, and each stone has its own
signature and frequency. This means that while one stone is mostly related to a certain chakra, it may
benefit an individual when used with a different one.

Root Chakra
For the root chakra , stones that are black, brown or red in color tend to be the most helpful. For
example, onyx, obsidian, jet, black, tourmaline and red calcite.

Sacral Chakra
Stones that are helpful for the sacral chakra include those that are red or orange in color, like
carnelian, orange calcite, citrine and moonstone.

Solar Plexus Chakra

When it comes to the solar plexus chakra, the best stons to use tend to be yellow. For instance, you
may use citrine, sunstone, jasper, golden topaz and yellow calcite.

Heat Chakra
Stones that can be helpful for the heat chakra will often be green or pink, like jade, rose quartz, green
calcite, malachite and emerald.

Throat Chakra
For the throat chakra, look for blue stones, such as lapiz, lazuli, blue opal and chrysocola.

Third Eye Chakra

Stones that can help to heal the third eye chakra are usually indigo in color, such as purple flourite,
sugalite, amethyst and sodalite.

Crown Chakra
For the crown chakra, one can use purpler, white or gold colored stones. Some examples of these are,
cactus, quartz, amber, diamond, moldavite, snow quartz, chevron and amethyst.
Clear quartz can be used for any chakra, as it resonates with the small amounts of quartz that flow
through the bloodstream naturally. IT can also be adjusted to take on the energy of any other stone. For
instance, if a Reiki practitioner only has one moldavite stone and wishes to create a triangle over a
patients crown chakra, they can take the moldavite and two quartz crystal points in their hands, cup
their hands around them and as the make a downward motion, they would say I program these quartz
crystals to have the same energetic properties as this moldavite, for the highest healing possible. The
practitioner would repeat this phrase and the downward motion twice more and then used the three
crystals as they would three pieces of moldavite.
In order to determine how and where exactly to use the stones, one should scan the body to read its
energy by floating the hand above the body and allowing it to be led to areas that nee attention. This
will help to indicate not only where Reiki healing is needed, but good places to use crystals as well.
You can also scan two different times, once with the intent of asking the body where it wants Reiki
energy, and another time asking where it would like crystal energy and which crystals it would like.
The body will indicate the stones it needs.

Chapter 9: Energy Strength in the Context of

Reiki
The strength of Reiki treatments can increase the value of the treatments given. A Reiki practitioner
can follow a few simple guidelines in order to increase the strength of their Reiki. Reiki comes from
an unlimited supply and this means that there is no limit to the benefit and value that one can receive
from Reiki.
One thing that can affect the strength of Reiki energy is the quality of the energy in the treatment room.
The room should not be too hot or too cool, and there is fresh air coming into the room from an open
window, or that it is not to stuffy. The room should also be clean and orderly, because negative
psychic energy tends to collect around disorder and clutter. One should also smudge the room with
sage before and after a treatment in order to release negative energies left behind by past clients, as
well as to act as a blessing. One can also place pictures of Mikao Usui and Mrs. Takata around the
room asking for their presence, and use incense, essential oils and soothing music to raise the
vibration and help the client to be more mentally receptive.
Before the client arrives, the Reiki practitioner should perform Reiki on him or herself, and
afterwards, use their dominant hand to draw the Reiki Power symbol in light on each wall, as well as
on the ceiling and floor, simultaneously stating I bless this room with light three times for each
place. Before beginning the Reiki treatment, the power and master symbols should be placed in the
pracitioners palm chakras, which will more completely open the palm chakras and energize them.
Adding prayer to Reiki treatments is also an effective way to increase the strength of the energy. The
practitioner can either pray out loud or to him or herself, calling on the ascended Reiki masters,
Jesus, St. Germain, Buddha, Krishna, Babaji or other ascended masters. One can also pray directly to
the infinite God or Goddess or the Reiki energy itself.
Energy strength can also be increased when one takes on the next level or Reiki training. Some Reiki
practitioners may notice the strength of their treatment subsiding over time, and this can be improved
by receiving additional attunements on the level that you have already mastered or moving on to the
next level. Chi Gong and Tai Chi can also help with this, opening the pathways that Chi or Ki, life
energy, flow through.

Chapter 10: Modern Reiki and Its Use in Life

There are many ways in which Reiki can be applicable to our every day lives. In this chapter, we will
discuss five ways in which you can use modern Reiki in your life.

Shield Yourself with Reiki

Shielding oneself with Reiki is a good practice to form a habit of doing each day before going out into
the world. One can think of this as putting on an invisible layer of clothes that can protect from the
energetic debris moving around. Some persons are more sensitive to the emotional baggage of others,
and they can become a sponge, losing their grounding and sucking up negative energy. Shielding can
be very beneficial in this aspect.
This is something that can be done as soon as you wake up, even while you are still in bed. Just place
your palms on yourself, with on on your heart, and one on your solar plexus. Then breathe deeply and
set an intention that will protect you and only invite positive energies. Use only positive and
reaffirming words, nixing phrases like do not and no. Then begin to channel Reiki as you
normally wood, imagining a force field around yourself.

Reiki Your Food

In the same way that some people pray of their food, you can send Reiki energy to your meal in order
to get the most out of its nutrients. You can also use Reiki to protect yourself from the elements of your
meal that you do not want, such as added hormones, fillers, and other inorganic elements. Just hold
your hands over your food, palm side down, briefly. Many find that non human things tend to receive
Reiki faster.

Reiki in the Workspace

Perhaps you are experiencing some conflict at your workplace either with your boss, coworker, a
high stress job, or all three. Starting off by shielding yourself with Reiki as was discussed before
might help, but setting up a wider Reiki box of protection around yourself can help you even more in
this respect. Simply use an on the go Reiki box, envelope or piece of paper in your and and place
your coworkers inside and then use Reiki energy in order to place a shield around them to help them
to calm down and keep their negative energy away from you and others.
In order to this, you must aim to find center in the middle of chaos. Take a short break in your day and
step outside into the fresh air if you can, just for a moment. If you cannot get away for an outside
break just sit in your space and place one hand on your belly and the other on your thigh, discreetly.
Take in at least three deep breaths and focus the mind on calmness, then begin channeling. This
session may not even last five minutes, but it will be enough to allow you to catch your breath in the
middle of a hectic day.

Electronics and Technology

You may be shocked to find that this ancient healing modality can help with modern technologies.
However, it is possible to use Reiki on your computer, cell phone and even your car. Reiki works
very well with inanimate objects, likely because they do not have the emotional choice to refuse the
energy. Some have been able to use Reiki in situations where perhaps their car is running on empty
and there are no gas stations open nearby.

Relaxing and Sleeping

At the end of the day, if you are having trouble relaxing an or falling asleep, it is a good idea to do a
full body self treatment, or you can just lay in bed with your hands on your heart and your belly. When
you are thinking about treating yourself to a Reiki session, you should make sure to do it without being
disturbed. Start with centering yourself, praying for protection and your intention. When you are
channeling for yourself you can place your hands wherever you want, your head, eye, throat, breasts,
sacral chakra area, or anywhere else. You can then fall asleep with both hands either touching your
stomach or your heart, you will feel deeply relaxed and wake up feeling refreshed.
