SCREW SHAFT ENGINE

ABSTRACT
The paper presents some recent results in the development
of new lobe profiles for the main and gate rotors of a screw
engine shaft, the engine cylinder is one of the major automobile
components, which is subjected to high temperature variations
and thermal stresses. In order to cool the cylinder, fins are
provided on the surface of the cylinder to increase the rate of
heat transfer. By doing thermal analysis on the engine cylinder
fins, it is helpful to know the heat dissipation inside the cylinder.
A rotary internal combustion engine including a rotary screw
compressor for receiving and compressing a mixture of air and
fuel, a rotary positive displacement pump for receiving the
compressed

air

and

fuel

mixture

from

the

rotary

screw

compressor and pumping the mixture of compressed air and fuel


there through, the pump having igniting means for igniting the
mixture of compressed air and fuel inside of the pump, and a
rotary screw expander for receiving the ignited mixture of
compressed air and fuel and for expanding the volume of the
ignited mixture of air and fuel there through.

INTRODUCTION
We know that in case of Internal Combustion engines,
combustion of air and fuel takes place inside the engine cylinder
and hot gases are generated. The temperature of gases will be
around 2300-2500C. This is a very high temperature and may
result into burning of oil film between the moving parts and may
result it seizing or welding of same. So, this temperature must be
reduced to about 150-200C at which the engine will work most
efficiently. Too much cooling is also not desirable since it reduces
the thermal efficiency. So, the object of cooling system is to keep
the engine running at its most efficient operating temperature. It
is to be noted that the engine is quite inefficient when it is cold
and hence the cooling system is designed in such a way that it
prevents cooling when the engine is warming up and till it attains
to maximum efficient operating temperature, then it starts
cooling. To avoid overheating, and the consequent ill effects, the
heat transferred to an engine component (after a certain level)
must be removed as quickly as possible and be conveyed to the

atmosphere. It will be proper to say the cooling system as a


temperature regulation system. It should be remembered that
abstraction of heat from the working medium by way of cooling
the engine components is a direct thermodynamic loss.
SCREW
A screw, or bolt, is a type of fastener characterized by a
helical ridge, known as a male thread (external thread) or just
thread, wrapped around a cylinder. Some screw threads are
designed to mate with a complementary thread, known as a
female thread (internal thread), often in the form of a nut or an
object that has the internal thread formed into it. Other screw
threads are designed to cut a helical groove in a softer material as
the screw is inserted. The most common uses of screws are to
hold objects together and to position objects.
Cylinder block
This is a cast structure with cylindrical holes bored to guide
and support the pistons and to harness the working gases. It also
provides a jacket to contain a liquid coolant.

Battery is giving the supply to the electromagnetic coil. The
two electro-magnetic coils are fixed to the gear shaft of the two
ends. One is used to shift the gear in upward direction. Another
one is used to shift the gear in downward direction. These two coil
is operated depends upon the activation of the push button.
