MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER
Chronological Bible Reading: Proverbs 19-21; Galatians 4
Monday, September 12
Neh. 9:20 Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy
manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst.
Holy Father:
How common is my sin of forgetting the Holy Ghost! Give me thy good
spirit, and make even me a powerful preacher and persuasive proponent of the
cross. For it is only thy good Spirit that can break granite hearts.
HE IS GOOD ESSENTIALLY, because his essence is Holy, Holy, Holy. I need
him now, because he is unmixed purity and truth and grace.
HE IS GOOD BENEVOLENTLY, because he bears my waywardness tenderly.
He strives with all rebellious wills; that is why I know I can trust him to make a
way for the gospel to others. Good Spirit, quicken __________ and __________
from their death in trespasses and sins. Then let me disciple them and train them
in ministry. How generous, forgiving, and tender thy good Spirit is!
HE IS GOOD OPERATIVELY; all his works are good. All your providences
are good to me, even the roughest. You suggest good thoughts and ways of
escape from temptation. You prompt good actions, and reveal good truths. You
apply good promises, and assist me in good accomplishments. You lead me into
the best result always, and there is no spiritual good in all the world of which you
are not the author and sustainer. Heaven itself wears your perfect character.
HE IS GOOD OFFICIALLY, as Comforter and Quickener, Instructor and
Intercessor, Guide and Sanctifier. Everything you do leads me to the highest
good. I yield to your influence today. Help me be more aware of your
movements! Good Spirit, give me impulses and motivation to do good. I need your
power, and I wait on it now in prayer. Help me seek your aid and never grieve
you today. Do it for Jesus whom you seek to glorify in me. Amen.

TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS PRAYER LIFE

Chronological Bible Reading: Proverbs 22-24; Galatians 5
Tuesday, September 13

WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Proverbs 25-27; Galatians 6
Wednesday, September 14

Mark 1:32-35 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that
were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. And all the city was gathered together
at the door. And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and
suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. And in the morning, rising up a great
while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

1 John 1:3-4 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also
may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus
Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

Holy Lord and Healing Master:

You prayed before you did any great thing. It was your custom and habit,
and so let it be mine. The context says this special supplication followed an
evening of miracles. Fresh from the wonderful successes of Saturday night, you
went on Sunday morning to open the gates of the day and the week with uplifted
hands in prayer. That proves Lord, that when I see you are with me in blessing, I
should be more concerned than ever to keep myself up with you! When the
blessing has really come to our church, or to meand souls are being saved!
then I should double my cries to heaven so your merciful presence is
sustained. Lord, let nothing stop the momentum of grace! Please Sir, help us
go from strength to strength, and keep Christ high and lifted up!
To see you operate this way shows you to be as supremely human as you
were certainly divine. It must have excited you to arouse the hills with your
praises, startle the glens with your groans, and put a tongue into every bush and
underbrush with your strong crying and tears. You would go nowhere till you had
prayed; you would attempt nothing till you had prayed. Let me do the same!
Let my heart be to the heart of Christ as the echo is to the voice that calls.
Make my intercession echo your will for revival! Let me pray like Jesus todayin
my rising up, in my going out, in my lonely place; there I pray. I praise you for the
miraculous blessings of the year thus far. Glorify yourself even greater! Amen.

O Righteous Father:
I praise you for how the faith you give me is a door, a door through which
all the glory that dwelt between the cherubim can fill the secret places of my
heart. Give me a living faith that deadens me to sin, and lifts me high up, above
this worlds delights. May your holy purpose lay hold of my humble ministry, and
cause the insignificant and small to glorify the infinite and eternal.
You are the God of truth; as your lamb, keep me from poisonous pastures of
error
You are the God of light; make my life a transcript of your will
You are the God of all grace, making me accepted in the Beloved
2 Pet. 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have
obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness [the finished work] of God and
our Saviour Jesus Christ:
The precious faith you give is the root of all my virtues, the channel of my
communion with you, the weapon of choice for the battle ahead, the shield of
safety when attacked, the evidence of eternity in my soul, and the passport to
revival. Grant me more of this incalculably precious faith.
Come Holy Spirit, and set my heart on fire! Express through me the
thunders of praise for the incomparable blessings in Christ, and the triumphing
greatness of your power. Make me an appropriate vessel for witnessing to
someone who is lost today. Increase my capacity so I can increase your glory.
So I ask it for Jesus worthy sake. Amen.

FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY

Chronological Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 1-3; Ephesians 2
Friday, September 16

SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS

Chronological Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 4-6; Ephesians 3
Saturday, September 17

1 Kings 8:45 Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and
maintain their cause.
O Lord:
We thank you for deliverance from evil, both physical and spiritual, and
for our sure and certain hope of deliverance from evil eternal. We thank you for
giving us good things for our soul and body, for mercies bestowed on our church
and on our children, on our nation and on its government, on our relatives and
on friends, as well as on ourselves.
Isa. 45:19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto
the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that
are right.
You did not bid us in vain to seek your face in prayer. You hear; you
intervene. And all this thanksgiving of ours is further heightened when we
consider the mercies we have received, their greatness and their continuance. You
maintained our cause even against all your glory and self-sufficiency. You are happy
in yourself and stand in no need of us, yet you condescended to confer continual
blessings on us. You are sovereign; you could shower your favor on thousands
and leave us out altogether, yet you have maintained our cause.
Psa. 4:1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when
I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
Lord, I am as vile and unworthy as others, and you see all my unworthiness,
all my guilt, all my repeated provocationsand you see all your past mercies I
have abused. Yet you continue to have mercy on me, and wait in order to be
gracious to me. For this I give you thanks as one who waits on you, to serve you
today with all my heart. Make me a blessing to your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Psa. 18:1 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

O Lord, My Strength:
Many people are saved while discouraged and doubting, but David had
such faith he could be born in adversity, fight while singing, and win the battle
with a song still on his lips. Help me receive every fresh mercy with a heart
grateful for mercies already enjoyed, and anticipate new trials with confidence
based on my past experience of your divine love.
I hope for the best, but sometimes I fear the worst. Satan knows how to
hem-in my emotions. But faith increases through exercise. Faith is wise and
discerns Christ in the terrible darkness and the threatening storm.
Psa. 18:27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.
I desire a grace-given righteousness in the face of all my haters, because
in your plan, uprightness and truth are sure to bring their own reward in the
long run. Let me praise you for it even now. Help me keep the image of God so
constantly in front of me I become conformed to it! In every trial, in every
temptation, the door of escape is as close as prayer. Because if my soul can
contact you, will I not then be safe? Give me an inner love for righteousness as
the motive for my integrity. Fill the fountain of my life with love for holiness, and
then all the streams of my public walk will be pure and grace-filled.
Eph. 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works,
which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
You first give me holiness, then you reward me for it! Make me a vessel of
honor. This comforts me, because my present sorrow is not nearly as
important as your eternal future for me. Help me trust your providence more,
since it is truly Jesus hand that guides me. Amen.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
