Assignment 2
Complete Chapter 1 Review Questions #1-10 and Discussion Questions #1-5

Review Questions:
1. Human beings benefited from science in the past, because finally there were
answers to questions such as How does blood travel in your body?
2. My life involves science every day, when I get in my car and go to school, when I
cook a meal. Ever-day I am using on the properties of Science from physics and
energy that is used in my car, to watching a lunar eclipse in my backyard.
3. Plato in reality was not good at observing. Some of his ideas, such as, Human
Physiology was mainly his opinion showing no scientific proof. Galileo was able
to test and run his theories and was able to show proof.
4. Observation is information that you collected in an experiment that you have been
watching, while imagination is something that you come up within your mind.
5. Nature is our physical surrounding. Everywhere we look we see trees, animals,
plants, all of that is nature. Scientist are able to find a pattern by the watching a
certain area throughout the year. The regulatory are determined by how it reacts in
a different setting. For example, flowers grow better in the spring, because the
ground is moister, and the outside temperature is not as hot as compare to the
6. Mathematics allows us to be able to understand patterns in everyday life, such as
finding out the density of an object.
7. Total Price= Weight of bean X price per pound
$=Lbs. X $/lbs.
8. A theory was once a hypothesis that has been through numerous test over and
over again, and has been proven right each time.

9. The branches are Physics, Biology, Astronomy, Geology, and Chemistry. All the
branches somehow intertwine with each other somehow, and that they can only be
studied efficiently is at an integrated class.

10. First step in the Scientific method is to make an observation. The second step in
the scientific method is to form a question. Thirdly, form a hypothesis. Fourthly,
Do the actually experiment. Lastly, amaze the data from the experiment, and
make a conclusion.

Evidence that would support the theory of evolution would be the finding of fossils in
one area of the world, and find another fossil of an animal in the same family in a total
different area of the world. However, it can be proven false. Evolution means, the
process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and
diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth. (Definition from It that was the case then there would only be species living today, and
truth to be told, there are hundreds of species living today.
The Creation of Science could also be false because many people who are religious will
tell you to read the bible, and thats how the world was made.

2. Most of the sun energy is in the form of heat energy.

Earth was created over 4 billion years ago.
Diamond is harder than steel.
3. Mendeleev was able to see patterns with certain elements that helped him put them in
categories on the Periodic Table.
4. Overall, yes Yukawa theory was failed. It made of been true during his time, but thanks to
modern technology we were able learn so much more on the sub-atomic particles.
5. Yes, William Harvey did. He first observed the color of blood in both living and dead
animals. He then formed a hypothesis for his observations. He then tested the hypothesis
out using a tourniquet. That experiment showed the blood does indeed flow to and from
the heart.
