Week 3

Fall 2016

This week we will take a closer look at science, and begin content activities,
by studying

The Work of Mendeleev as a Demonstration of the Scientific Process

William Harvey & Blood Circulation

Basic Research & Applied Science/ Scientific Research Funding

Communication Among Scientists

The Scientific Revolution/Ptolemy to Galileo

This will be our last amount of work laying a foundation with Chapter 1.
Please complete Assignment 3 this by next Monday, September 5th at 1130
pm. Also, complete Assignment 2 if you have not done so already. After this
week we begin a much more accelerated pace and cover much more of the
text each week.
Things You Can Do to Prepare:

Read Chapter 1 in it's entirety

Print & Read the PDF in the "Module 1" CONTENT folder
called "Periodic"
o

Make sure to bring this to class with you.

Study "Return to the Integrated Question" on Page 20 of the text.

o

Pay Close attention to Pages 9 & 10.

A copy of the TEXT is on RESERVE in the ACE....please go to

the ACE to use the text if you do not have one.

Define and Study all of the KEY TERMS on Page 21.

ASSIGNMENT #3:

Complete Chapter 1 Review Questions #16,17, & 18 AND

Discussion Questions #6-16.

Write all ANSWERS in COMPLETE STATEMENTS in a WORD

document.

Submit into "Assignment 3" Folder in the "Assignments" tab at the

top of you D2L page.

Must be submitted by Monday, September 5th at 1130 pm

To Prepare for Next Week:

Read Chapter 2 and look for key concepts

Define and Study all of the KEY TERMS for Chapter 2 (end of
chapter)

Place these into your OneNote Notebook for extra credit

Create a section called Vocabulary with pages for each

Chapter. If you need help with this come see me
You can also do this for Chapter 1.

There will be experimental design activities mixed in over the next couple of
weeks. After that we will be doing investigations/labs while using the text
as our guide to the content.
