Students will be able to transition

from one skill to another in a smooth
and seamless manner.

Evaluation:

has been achieved apon reflection
with the students on how they
perceived the lesson and their ability
to transition between the two skills.

Preparation and Resources:

1. Basketballs
2. Cones or markers

Catering for diversity

Within this class there is a wide range of skills level between the students, as
a result I must ensure to assist the lower skilled students with their skills
more frequently.
The class has Three students who have English as a second language
students (ESL) who may struggle with specialised language around this
sport. As a result, I must ensure that instructions are both clear and a more
basic level of language, as well as including demonstrations so that they
may visualise particular skills.

Learning Experiences:
1. Introduction:

As per the requirements of the school, I will begin my lesson by

accounting for each student on the school roll/register as well as doing a
collection of the students valuables and locking up the sports sheds and
change room.
I will then explain to the students that I shall be taking the lesson and talk
to them about the activities planned for the lesson. I will ensure that this
is done in an enthusiastic manner in order to engage my learners.

To begin the lesson students will partake in a basketball dribbling game of

Simon Says, which requires students to practice and perform a variation
of different dribbling patterns. This game will be slightly modified in its
wording so that students are not to be treated as if they are little children.
(2 min)
This will lead into another small activity where the students will be placed
into a third of a netball court where they will partake in another dribbling
game. This activity requires students to protect their basketball with the
dribble moves practiced in the previous game from their opponents whilst
still trying to steal their opponents ball or knock it out of play. (3 minutes)
This will then lead into a guided discussion of where I will discuss with the
students what they think we will be focusing on and then me explaining
how dribbling in basketball can be used to setup a wide variety of
different skills. (2 minutes)
We will then use layup lines so that the students may practice how they
can turn dribbling a basketball into laying it up. This will assist them in the
progression of the next activity. (3 minutes)
Students will then line up within 2 lines and practice dribbling in to a jump
shot. Students will stand at the elbow of the 3-point line where they will
take 3 steps in and turn their dribble into a jump shot. This will be
modified for weaker students who may choose to shoot from a closer
range (3 minutes)
Students will partake in a modified game of bump, where students must
dribble in from the 3-point line to then pull up and shoot from the free
throw line. Once a student has been eliminated they must wait until one
of their peers has been eliminated before re-entering the game. If one
particular student has been out for an excessive amount of time, at my
discretion, they may re-enter the game. (5 minutes)

3. Lesson conclusion:

Students will split up into teams and will play a half court set of
basketball. As the teacher, I must ensure that teams are fair so that all
students are able to practice the skills learnt within the lesson. (10
