Should the death penalty be used to punish violent criminals?

When a person dont show his respect to other persons life then his life also
shouldnt be respected. A true civilization is not to abolish the death penalty in order
to punish violent criminals but there is no one grave death penalty offense. It is not
help to build a civilization by canceling the death penalty blindly. No one can decide
others birth and death except for a complete law. Although some countries abolish the
death penalty, well these are some well-developed countries. In China, the high crime
rate makes the government has to keep the death penalty, also the death penalty
recheck system has been completed well and well. It will shock the people in order to
keep away from doing the crimes. Without doubt, it is important that the death penalty
be used to punish violent criminals in China.
Granted, there has been a recent study (Hude, 2005). He stated there are one
hundred and twenty-eight countries have totally abolished the death penalty and it
accounts for sixty percentage of the countries in the whole world. Indeed, to abolish
the death penalty become universally and it is a tendency.
Here is a question, should we go with the stream? I think, even if it is a tendency,
our country havent got such standard and prerequisite. It is a long and complicated
process to abolish the death penalty. For example, in Canada, from 1961 it started to
abolish the death penalty and finally in 1998 it totally abolished it. By comparison,
China hasnt completed the law system than America or some European countries.
Because there are a lot of low educated people in China and it causes the high
criminal rate. In early 2009, Blecker claimed that the punishment for the criminals
should be directly proportional as what they did and it is unjust to let such a criminal
to be alive or even sentence them in the prison.
For another reason, if the death penalty keep used to punish violent criminals it
will make a deterrent force to others. If we take utilitarianism to consider the

perspective for the deterrent, when the death penalty have a deterrent force then it can
reduce the rate of the citizens may become the victim in the future. This is the benefit
of the death penalty. In Ehrlichs research (1970), he stated that the death penalty has
a strong deterrent force. In 1990, Hashem, Paul, Joanna discovered that one death
penalty on the average can save eighteen lives that can be murdered(p.54). A
Louisiana State University economist Naci(2002) asserted that to implement one
death penalty can decrease five murder cases and one probation can increase five
murder cases. Although he didnt support the death penalty, the research still showed
the death penalty has a deterrent force to others.
In conclusion, although most of the countries in the world abolish to use death
penalty to punish violent criminals yet in China it doesnt work. In my point of view,
whether to use death penalty it depends on different countries at least China cant.
