CONGRATULATIONS
You are receiving this information because you are about to complete your
undergraduate studies and graduation is near.
When you obtain all the ECTS credits, you will have completed your degree
curriculum and you will be entitled to obtain the official diploma.
Your Bachelors degree at IE University has been authorised by the Spanish
authorities and it is registered in the Registry of Universities, Centres and Degrees
(RUCT) of the Spanish Ministry of Education. For this reason, it is an official
degree. You can check the website for more information:

The Bachelors degree complies with the principles of the Bologna Process. Your
Degree and the official diploma are therefore recognised by all the member states
of the European Higher Education Area.

WHATISIT?
It is the authentic certificate that proves that you have completed your
undergraduate studies in accordance with the provisions established by IE
University and authorised by the Spanish educational authorities.
It is a single document issued and registered by the Spanish authorities. This
document is of permanent nature.
For this reason, its layout and the application and acquisition processes are
exclusively regulated by the Spanish educational authorities. The University acts as
an intermediary between the authorities and the students, who are the recipients
of the diploma.

WHYISITNECESSARY?
The diploma reflects your academic achievement and guarantees that you have
acquired the competences and knowledge established in your degree curriculum.
It reflects your training to carry out professional activities within the field of your
studies.
In short, it is your undergraduate studies ID card.

WHENWILLITBEEFFECTIVEFROM?
The official diploma will be fully effective from the completion date of your
undergraduate studies leading to its aquisition, once you have obtained all the ECTS
credits (240 / 300 ECTS) .

WHY DOES IT HAVE THIS LAYOUT?

The diploma is an official document and therefore its layout (including the colours
and the text) responds to a unique model legally established by the Spanish
Ministry of Education. The University cannot change the final layout of the
diploma.

IN WHICH LANGUAGES IS IT WRITTEN?

It is only written in Spanish. The Spanish legislation has excluded issuing a bilingual
diploma in Spanish and English or a diploma exclusively in English.

WHAT INFORMATION IS DETAILED IN THE DIPLOMA?

The official diplomais issued by the Chancellor ofIEUniversity on behalf ofthe KingofSpain andspecifies:

The students name andsurname(s)asthey appear intheir Spanish IDcard,their Foreigner ID

card or Passport.

The students dateandplaceofbirth andtheir nationality.

The official degree title.

The issuance dateandplaceofthe diploma(Segovia,asthe main campus).

The signatures ofthe Chancellor,the GeneralSecretary ofthe University andthe student.

The registration numbers ofthe National Degree Registry,the University andthe University
Registry.

WHENCANIREQUESTIT?
You can request the official diploma once you have obtained all the ECTS credits
established in the degree curriculum leading to its acquisition (240/300 ECTS).

HOWCANIREQUESTIT?
It can only be requested by the student from the Academic Registrar of IE University in
one of the following ways:
In person at the Academic Registrars offices (Segovia or Madrid).
Via email (registrar.university@ie.edu).

BEFOREREQUESTINGTHEOFFICIALDIPLOMA
The official fee of the issuance of the diploma must be paid in full (220) . In Dual
Degrees, you ought to pay for each Diploma (220 + 220 )

DOCUMENTSTOBESUBMITTEDALONGWITHTHEAPPLICATION
When requesting the official diploma, the following documents
must be produced:
A signed application form for the issuance of the official diploma
(General Registration form. Box: issuance of university degree.)
A bank transfer receipt for the issuance of the diploma (Official
fee: 220 or 440 )
A copy of your Spanish ID card, NIE card or Passport.

THEAPPLICATIONPROCESS
The issuance of the official diploma is carried out by the Spanish Ministry of
Education after confirming the academic details provided by the University. This
process usually takes less than 12 months from the student submission of the
application and documents.
The Chancellor of IE University will issue a provisional certification of the diploma
to all students who have already applied for the official diploma. The provisional
certification will replace the official diploma until the latter is issued. This
certification will be valid for all legal purposes.

ACQUISITIONOFTHEDIPLOMA
After receiving the diplomas, the Academic Registrar of the University will contact
the interested parties to inform them of the date they can collect the document.
Due to its official nature, the official diploma must be personally collected in the
Segovia Academic Registrars office. The personal identification document (ID
card or Passport) must be presented when collecting the diploma. It could be
collected in Madrid Academic Registrars office under request.
In some specific cases and by special request from the student, the diploma can be
sent to the Delegaciones or Subdelegaciones del Gobierno in Spain, or certain
Spanish Embassies or Consulates abroad from which the student must collect
their diploma in person, and in accordance with the consulates conditions.

AVAILABILITYOFTHEOFFICIALDIPLOMA
The University is obliged to keep the official diplomas for a maximum period of
five years. Once this period of time is over, the diploma will be destroyed and the
initial application will no longer be valid. This means that the student must start
the application process from the beginning.
The University will provide an online electronic copy system which will be
validated by an electronic signature. The access to the system is universal for an
initial period of three years and it will be extendable at the students request.

WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOT HE OFFICIAL DIPLOMA?
The Spanish Goverment requires the fee payment in order to issue it.
WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT REQUESTING THE OFFICIAL DIPLOMA?
Your undergraduate studies will not be officially certified and difficulties may arise in
your professional career when you need to prove your academic achievements.
CAN I REQUEST A DUPLICATE OF THE DIPLOMA?
The diploma is an official document and therefore only one copy is issued. Nonetheless,
you can obtain official copies with your electronic signature anytime you need through
the Universitys online electronic copy system (eTitulo).

WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF LOSING THE OFFICIAL DIPLOMA?
Due to its official nature, if you lose the diploma, you will need to fulfill some
previous requirements and restart the application process from the beginning. For
this reason, it is advisable to use the official online electronic copy system and
keep your diploma safe at all times.
WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT COLLECTING THE OFFICIAL DIPLOMA?
The student is the legal owner of the document once the Spanish Ministry of
Education sends the official diploma to the University. IE University can hold the
students diploma for a period of 5 years. If the student fails to collect the diploma
during this period, the University is legally required to destroy the document.

HOW CAN I PROVE MY ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS UNTIL I HAVE ACCESS TO THE
OFFICIAL DIPLOMA?
Since the application process usually takes some months, you may need to prove your
academic achievements at some point before having the official diploma, whether for
professional reasons or in order to study a Masters degree. There are two ways to do
this:
You can produce the provisional certificate of the diploma provided by the
University once the application for the diploma has been submitted. The
provisional certification replaces the diploma until the official diploma is issued.
You can request an official copy of your academic transcript from the Academic
Registrar of the University. You will need to request it in the same way as you
requested the official diploma.
