TASK 2 : ACADEMIC WRITING

The impact of the objectives of the National Education Transformation emotional aspects among
teachers.
A teacher is an educator who determines the future of our children and that of our country
YAB Dato Sri Najib Tun Razak
Teachers are the backbone that will determine the success of Vision 2020 YB Dato Seri
Muhyiddin Yassin.
The above statements show some of the bold plans that the government has devised to drive
Malaysia forward into becoming a global player. The setting up of a world class education hub is
part of the grand strategy for Malaysia to become an Asian hub of western education. This is a
good plan no doubt, and certainly may propel us forward. The key question is, are we as
teacher for this to take place or are we getting ahead of ourselves?
The teachers are the ones who would have to take the brunt of the load. They are expected to
carry out the transformation, whether they are prepared to or not, and change is inevitable. It is
indeed a tall order for the teachers to keep up with the demands of this globalized world whilst
juggling with the changes requested of them by the top-down policy makers. Put simply, the
quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers cannot exceed the
quality of teacher selection, teacher development and teacher evaluation.
In order to walk the path of world-class education, we really ought to look into uplifting and
strengthening the teaching profession into a respectable one. We need to take better care of the
nations most important builders. The future of this country depends on the seeds that the
teachers sow today. Thus, few teachers fail to unstable their emotion and stress because of the
tasks and responsibilities given to them.
Teaching profession is among the most stressful of all occupations because of the daily
unrelenting pressures and fragmented demands from a number of sources such as students,
parents, and administrators as well from the teachers own high expectations and hopes. Stress
is an unavoidable and dreaded, yet needed, part of everyday life. Although lifes stress are
usually thought of as only damaging to physical and mental health, they also motivate people to
live actively and productively. Teaching is becoming more challenging as a profession and it is

one of the most significant in the world. These are tough times to be a teacher. Main objective of
this study is to identify sources of work stress in school teachers.
Psychologically, the stress we feel is often based on our individual perception of situation and
this is why some people appear to suffer more than others. This was described as our locus of
control or the extent to which an individual feels that they have control over a situation. Locus of
control can be internal, in that we believe we have control over our lives, or external, where we
believe that the environment controls events. Realistically most of us fall between these two
dimensions but we may favour a particular one.
There are few effects that showed by a teacher when they were stress. Of course with all of the
workload and never finish work the teacher will be easily worried of their work. They are
confused and get angry and being sensitive easily. They would feel frustration, anger and hatred
toward colleagues of not giving enough cooperation or they are not doing their job. As these
things were not spoken out, the teacher tends to keep things to oneself and occur selfwithdrawal and depression. This was because of lack of effective communication which they
were afraid of being rejected or provoke by colleagues. This also effect that, after being rejected
they have a tendency to not to socialize and like to seclude oneself from others. They like being
alone and follow what they have to do. The teachers who were not enjoying their work they will
feel bored and does not experience any job satisfaction. They were mentally tired, a decline in
intellectual function and lose of focus. As in the classroom performances their will loss of
spontaneity and creativity interest in teaching the students. Most of all, these things decreased
their self-esteem. Basically, these psychological impacts influence the way of a teacher thinking
towards their work and how they handle their stress when there is a lot of work coming to them.
As I experienced during my practicums and internship, teacher has never ending work. There
will be a lot of work need to be taken care of. As I conclude that, teacher can be everything.
They could be an accountant as their handle the financial management of the school; they could
be an engineer as they the one who build the huts for every subject in school. They could be a
singer as they have to train the pupils to sing and perform on stage. Teacher is a noble
profession.
Meanwhile, from the other parts of perspective teacher stress can affect their behavior. Yes, if
you are mentally broken you tend to behave aggressive. This showed when the teachers were
stress, they like to procrastinate, they are avoiding themselves to do any work and playing
truant. Off course it will be resulting in their performance and productivity. For those teachers

who fail to manage their stress they will find a short cut to their problem is by drinking alcohol,
taking drug and banned substances. As we can see here, no wonder that they are decreased in
their performances. As a result, they do not care of their health by practicing bad eating habits
and weight gain. Sometimes, they abnormal eating behavior as a form of self-withdrawal and
sudden weight loss; and a combination of depression. In cooperation context, this kind of
teachers will always shows the behavior of sabotage in working. They could not achieve and
envy to what other teacher did so they find a way out to be on top by interrupt the other teachers
work. Teacher with unhealthy stress will increased in high risked behavior such as including
getting careless in driving and gambling. Worst, they could perform aggressive behavior in
vandalism and crime. They also will decline the quality of relationships with family and friends.
Most horrible, they tend to suicide or attempted suicide. These are not good for teachers who
unable to manage their stress very well. They should find time to cope with their stress by doing
what they like to do.
All those impacts above will bring huge consequences to the teachers physical. As they did not
take care of their mind and health they tend to expose with diseases. These unhealthy practices
will increase heart rate, blood pressure and tendency of suffering from cardiovascular disease. It
also increases secretion of stress hormones as example adrenaline and noradrenaline. They
may experience interference of gastrointestinal including irritable bowel syndrome, inflammation
and ulceration of colon wall. Besides, it will increase the injuries and accidents in the body. This
also affect their physical fatigue and likely to suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome. Thus, will
occur respiratory disorders, headache, pain in lower buttocks and muscle tension. Most awful, it
will fail in immune function, including high risk for cancer.
Stress can affect many aspects of an individuals life. To avoid stress the individual should be
able to identify the situation that could cause stress and how one could cope with it. The more
one understands about oneself then he/she can handle the situations better.

Effective measures to deal with these emotional disorders with appropriate justification.
Effective teachers are those who can deal with their own problems and continue to move
forward to carry out responsibilities excellently as well as making themselves happy. There are
so many ways to deal with emotional stress.
We all respond to stress differently so, there is no one size fits all solution to managing stress.
But if you feel like the stress in your life is out of control, it is time to take action. Stress
management can teach you healthier ways to cope with stress, help you reduce its harmful
effects, and prevent stress from spiraling out of control again in the future. No matter how
powerless you may feel in the face of stress, you still have control over your lifestyle, thoughts,
emotions, and the way you deal with problems. Stress management involves changing the
stressful situation when you can, changing your reaction when you cannot, taking care of
yourself, and making time for rest and relaxation.
Physical activity plays a key role in reducing and preventing the effects of stress, but you do not
have to be an athlete or spend hours in a gym to experience the benefits. Just about any form of
physical activity can help relieve stress and burn away anger, tension, and frustration. Exercise
releases endorphins that boost your mood and make you feel good, and it can also serve as a
valuable distraction to your daily worries. While the maximum benefit come from exercising for
30 minutes or more, you can start small and build up your fitness level gradually. Short, 10
minutes bursts of activity that elevate your heart rate and make you break out into a sweat can
help to relieve stress and give you more energy and optimism. Even very small activities can
add up over the course of a day. The first step is to get yourself up and moving.
Social engagement is the quickest, most efficient way to rein in stress and avoid overreacting to
internal or external events that you perceive as threatening. There is nothing more calming to
your nervous system than communicating with another human being who makes you feel safe
and understood. This experience of safety-as perceived by your nervous system-results from
nonverbal cues that you hear, see and feel. The inner ear, face, heart and stomach are weird
together in the brain, so socially interacting with another person face-to-face and making eye
contact, listening in an attentive way, talking can quickly calm you down and put the brakes on
defensive stress responses like fight-or-flight. It can also release hormones that reduce stress,
even if you are unable to alter the stressful situation itself. Of course, it is not always realistic to
have a pal close by to lean on when you feel overwhelmed by stress, but by building and

maintaining a network of close friends you can improve your resiliency to lifes stressors. On the
flip side, the more lonely and isolated you are, the greater your vulnerability to stress.
Reach out to family and friends and connect regularly in person. The people you talk to do not
have to be able to fix your stress, they just need to be good listeners. Opening up is not a sign
of weakness and it would not make you a burden to others. In fact, most friends will be flattered
that you trust them enough to confide in them, and it will only strengthen your bond. And
remember, it is never too late to build new friendships and improve your support network.
In addition to regular exercise, there are other healthy lifestyle choices that can increase your
resistance to stress. Well-nourished bodies are better prepared to cope with stress, so be
mindful of what you eat. Start your day with breakfast, and keep your energy up and your mind
clear with balanced, nutritious meals throughout the day. The temporary highs caffeine and
sugar provide often end in with a crash in mood and energy. By reducing the amount of coffee,
soft drinks, chocolate, and sugar snacks in your diet, you will feel more relaxed and you will
sleep better. Self-medicating with alcohol or drugs may provide an easy escape from stress, but
the relief is only temporary. Do not avoid or mask the issue at hand to deal with problems head
on and with a clear mind. Adequate sleep fuels your mind, as well as your body. Feeling tired
will increase your stress because it may cause you to think irrationally.
As a whole, stress is very common and unavoidable. Stress can be a pressure that could bring
benefits but it can also be the cause of failure in life. If stress is not dealt and controlled in a
wise manner it could bring unhealthy effect and cause harm. Thus, a simple approach on how to
deal with stress should be emphasized so that we can have a better life.
