Conclusion

DFIMEC: GEWI - Piles for Uplift Resistance Klaus Lanzinger

What are Micropiles?

Different pile types

Driven piles (steel, concrete, cast iron,)

Bored piles (reinforced concrete)

Micropiles (GEWI-Piles, Hollow bars, ....)

10

DFIMEC: GEWI - Piles for Uplift Resistance Klaus Lanzinger

What are Micropiles?

Development since 1950 (Prof. Lizzi)

Piles for compression and tension

Load transfer via skin friction from grouted

steel element

Borehole dia. up to 300 mm

11

DFIMEC: GEWI - Piles for Uplift Resistance Klaus Lanzinger

What are GEWI-Piles?

Micropiles with a GEWI-bar as load

bearing element

can be loaded with tension, compression

or alternating loads

very flexible and robust solution, because

of the unique thread of the GEWI-bar
12

DFIMEC: GEWI - Piles for Uplift Resistance Klaus Lanzinger

GEWI-Piles

Advantages through GEWI-steel

Robust thread

Screwable in every section

Easy assembly of accessories

High relative rib area (0.075 to 0.080 )

excellent bond / load transfer

13

DFIMEC: GEWI - Piles for Uplift Resistance Klaus Lanzinger

GEWI-Piles

Advantages of entire GEWI-Pile-System

Double corrosion protection protects piles

even in aggressive soils

Optimization of load transfer by use of post

grouting systems

Different steel grades and diameters for economic

solutions

Installation of GEWI-Piles

GEWI-piles are installed in a pre-bored

hole and are grouted in there

GEWI-piles need no prestressing loads

and accordingly no penetration of the
bottom slab
