the gym floor. We will use Pickleball paddles, wiffleballs, and nets for drills and gameplay. I would also use a rubric
found in our PE Metrics book.
Contextual Factors/ Learner Characteristics: Students have different learning styles, therefore not every student can
be taught in the same way. I will get to know my students to learn their characteristics and find out what motivates
them and how to manage them in the classroom.

The Lesson
1. Introduction (10 min)

Getting attention
Upon entering the gym, students will stretch and walk around the boundaries of the gym. Once I have taken role
I will gather them up to let them know what we are doing that day. Then I will introduce Pickleball, I will give
them a handout that has the history and rules of the game, definitions, and safety rules.

Relating to past experience and/or knowledge


This is our first lesson so there will be nothing to relate it to, except for tennis, racquetball, or any other racket
sport we have played already.

Creating a need to know


I will explain why todays activities will be important to help them understand the concepts of lifetime fitness
and how these concepts can assist individuals of all ages in their daily activities

Sharing objective, in general terms


The objectives for this class period are to learn the basics of pickleball, including the rules and basic
fundamentals.
2. Content Delivery (30 min)
Introduce Pickleball history
Go over rules with the students
Let the students play pickleball, assess their skills
Demonstrate Serves, discuss proper mechanics

Quiz the students on what they learned to today
Dismiss the students and let them get changed

Technology Integration:
Have the students watch videos of pickleball before they come to school. This way they have basic
knowledge of the game.
Assessments Used:
Use observations to determine the level of expertise the students have.

There will be no adaptive strategies utilized during this lesson

students learned the proper serve techniques.

learned yesterday. Then we will go into the lesson on forehands.
