Their demands increasingly higher quality to the manufacture of new
roads and the maintenance of a road, both in terms of strength, comfort, and
safety, requires the availability of road-making materials is sufficient and meets
the requirements of the specification. Modification of asphalt have been
developed over the last few decades. Generally with a few additions LGA (usually
about 2% -6%) has been able to improve the results better resistance to
deformation, cracks overcome and improve the high durability of the ravages of
age so that the resulting construction of roads more durable and can reduce
maintenance costs or roadwork The objective of this research is to know KAO
(Optimum Asphalt levels) as well as the comparison of the performance of a mix
of AC-WC Hotmix use LGA type 50/30 and 5/20 type based on the characteristics
Marshall.
There are two ways in LGA comparison, namely by using LGA type 50/30
and 5/20 with the addition of LGA type for each 2% is added to the hot aggregate.
This research was conducted with the experimental method is with a test to get
results, thus will be seen on a mix of AC-WC with variations in the levels of LGA
2%, with 0% as compared to the total mixture.
The research result Optimum Asphalt Content (KAO) which is a mixture
without LGA obtained KAO value of 5.1%. On mixing with asphalt Lawele 5/20
type 2% LGA values obtained KAO = 5.3%, and for mixing with asphalt type
50/30 Lawele 2% LGA values obtained KAO = 5.5%.
Based on the analysis of the effect of adding LGA Marshall characteristics
AC-WC shows that all variations addition LGA levels on a mix of AC-WC can
improve the quality of the mixture.
