Assignment 2 Task 1

Theory on web design

My topic will be” Poetry”.

Introduction
interesting and eye catchingensure that my introduction is mustIThe
most
important part of any website is the fact that it must be
eye catching and colourful.
I feel that our learners do not quite appreciate poetry
because they do not fully understand the where, why and
what about Poetry.
Because II
am such a believer in constructive learning
therefore learners will discover for themselves and apply
what they learned on their own with the help of cause
with my ‘website’

Design aspect
The first firstthing I must consider is: What do I want to
achieve with my web site. Most of the leaners in my
school came from middle class families which mean most
if not all have computers in their homes. All of our kids
are exposed to computers even if they are not aware of
it. Computers are just small compact easy to carry little
computers. Seeing that our language of teaching is
English it is easy. To design the webpage in English. We
currently offer computer classes at school which means
that they are all computer literate. Their typing skills are
excellent as I have watched a lot of them communicating
with Mxit. They are also familiar with windows because
that is what we are currently using in school. I am very
positive concerning my learners knowledge of computers.

Curriculum and content

This is important as specific outcomes set beforehand.
The experience must be authentic for the learners. The
outcomes must be clear
1. Describe the word “Poem”.
2. What will help us understand poems better?
3. What is meant by “form”?
4. Give an example of rhyme. (e.g. at least 4 words)

The website will have some poems loaded.

In this regard I would prefer social constructivism
because it suggests” knowledge is firs constructed in a
social context and is then appropriated by individuals”
(Bruning et al, 1999; M Cole,1991;Nuthal,1991.
Social constructivism would be suitable because in this
instance all their prior knowledge would come from
their social circles and environment. A good idea is to
provide my learners with pre-existing knowledge so
that they just expand on what they already know.
Design phase
Having carefully considered the knowledge of your
learners and the content we will now analyze the
outcomes.
1.Skills: Learners must acquire the skills to write their
own poem
2. Knowledge: they will know how to use rhyme,
rhythms, jargon, slang, repetition because they
will understand how to use it writing their own poems
using appropriate software like “word”.
3. Attitude and believe: Learners must have a sense of
pride and confidence to produce their own poems. Here
they must be taught that
You must stand up for what you believe no matter
consequences. This is also a way for them to express
themselves

DEVELOPING INITIAL CONTENT IDEAS

In every learning institution it is the responsibility of
every educator to equip any child with the necessary
skills to survive in life. Teachers teaching literacy can
come together and do a brainstorming session and
decide on what it will be. Not all decisions will be
considered. Some will be eliminated based on everything
we know about our learners regarding the use of
computers, their ages, pre-knowledge, skills abilities,
aptitudes, computers-skills etc
Careful consideration must be given to
1. Subject matter.
2. Outcomes
3. Time
4. Delivery systems
5. Skills (learners and teachers)

Types of learning
This must accommodate all the learners, to ensure that
all the learners have an equal chance to succeed. They
must be able to challenge themselves. Feedback must be
available immediately so that they can see where they
need to improve upon.

Evaluation should be ongoing (formative) and not

summative.
Learners must be motivated to carry on and curious
enough to want to explore further.

Development
After designing comes the developing of the website
using a developing tool. I will make use of a template
because it is usually “user friendly”. Making it more
interesting I might add different sound. I must carefully
consider the following
1. Time and budget
2. Text components
3. Separate pages or screen
4. Graphics, sound, video.

Implementation and evaluation

To ensure that my website is “learner friendly”. I will
have them “test” the website and ask them to write down
what they think I can improve upon, not forgetting that I
prefer. This will also be done by the developing team.
During this process learners will be carefully monitored to
see whether they are motivated and inspired.
