ENVIRONMENT
Two major natural features of Aizawl are
The main Ridges stretching from Sihphir in the north and South Hlimen in the south have
beautiful hillocks like Sihphir, Hangi Lunglen tlang, Tlangnuam tlang and South Hlimen tlang

The streams of Chite, Tuithuam, Khatla lui, Vaivakawn and Zawngkawt and their tributaries act
as a natural drainage system of the city

Deforestation, mining and quarrying activities have led to environmental degradation. The problem
of degradation is further aggravated by congestion and pollution from motor vehicles, and presence
of several dilapidated buildings in the inner city. Air and noise pollution are also on the rise.
