The choice of a major for a graduate study is an important decision. This decision in
my case was not made in a day but is backed by a passion for general science and study of
communications all through my schooling and undergraduate study.
Right from my childhood, I had questioning eyes and art of analysis through
observation for the technologies surrounding our daily lives. I was fortunate to have begun
with a good early education and as I grew, my interests and ability were inclined towards the
physical nature of the universe. Science unraveled many a mystery for me, Mathematics
challenged me and gave me joy. Learning itself became key to my life.My school proved to
be the perfect platform to explore my creative abilities. I excelled in various games in my
school. They instilled healthy competition and leadership in me.My passion for music made
me learn violin. I have participated in several social science exhibitions, science fairs and
cultural events. My hobbies include playing violin, table tennis and swimming.
My interest in Mathematics and Physical Sciences prompted me to join in preUniversity course with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as main subjects. The field of
Electronics and Communications grew of interest to me gradually.I was delighted when my
father gifted me with a mobile phone. I felt elated and that the whole world is in my
hands. The Electronics field which has literally led to the shrinking of the whole world into
one global village and opened up new vistas of information sharing, has fascinated me.
The fascination for Electronics and Communications had developed into a latent
interest for knowing more and increasing my knowledge in this field. This led me to choose
Electronics and Communications as my majors for the Bachelors degree from University
College of Engineering, Osmania University, one of the reputed universities in India. In the
process of my involvement with Electronics and Communications over the past three and a
half years, I had a chance to observe very closely how rapid advances in this field have been
constantly changing the lives of so many people.
My undergraduate Study: The rigorous curriculum of our undergraduate program covered a
wide range of subjects fromMathematics, Computers, Electronics and Communications. It
included courses on Network theory, Pulse and Digital circuits, Basic Electrical Engineering,
Electromagnetic theory, Communications, Microprocessor and Microcontroller,Control
systems, Digital Signal Processing, IntegratedCircuits and Applications besides the intensive
lab work. The stress has been as much on design as on analysis, more on concepts than on
nomenclature. As a product of such a program, I consider myself special. In these three years
of my undergraduate study and through my practical work, I had gained considerable
expertise in Digital Image Processing, Embedded Systems and Communications. Keeping in
view the fast rate of obsolescence in this field, I have tried to keep myself abreast of the latest
trends by regular perusal of the journals.
The undergraduate program has given me a strong academic foundation and has
brought considerable maturity in my outlook on field of Electronics and Communications
through projects and seminars. I did my summer internship for eight weeks on Compressed
Sensing in which I understood the basic concepts of it. I am planning to do my final year
project on Super resolution using Compressed Sensing which is an extension to the
internship program.
