Fig & Arugula Salad

marketnotes
Produce Market Report September 27, 2016

GOOD BUYS FOR THE WEEK

Watermelons: Red
seedless still arriving daily
from Delaware. Price for
yellow watermelon from
Maryland is on the decline.

Mangos: The Mexican

season is still producing
abundant supplies of
sweet, tasty fruit at low
prices!

Romaine Lettuce &

Romaine Hearts:
Supplies are great and
demand is steady. Quality
is excellent.

How about using organic figs from Maywood Farms in a

delicious fall salad using peppery arugula, gorgonzola
cheese, candied walnuts and a Port Wine vinaigrette?
The salad is prepared by reducing the port wine by 3/4
and adding olive oil, a dash of Sherry Vinegar, and a
dash of orange juice. Minced Shallots and salt and
pepper to taste.
