STANDARD PATTERN

3.1
The standard pattern, if held with the purchasing or Quality Assurance Authority,
may be referred and shall constitute a general guide only. The stores shall confirm to this
specification otherwise.
4.

TERMINOLOGY

4.1

Technical terms/ definitions used in this JSS are as follows:-

4.1.1
Lift: It is the static suction lift which is a difference between the pump datum and
the water level in the water source when the pump is running.
4.1.2
Canopy: Cover for protecting engine, radiator and fuel tank during storage and
capable of folding during operation of pump.
4.1.3

4.1.5

Trailer:

4.1.5.1
General :- It consists of main frame, cross members for mounting pump engine,
drive assembly, suspension, wheel & axle assembly, tow hook and brake assembly, body work
covering structural frame work, sheet metal work for canopy, mounting of control equipment,
battery and suction hose, tool box and accommodation for suction side accessories, jack legs and
other fitments for end use as covered in this specification. All bolted joints shall have spring
washers and lock nuts. For general arrangement and layout refer to drawing No. IMGA 0010
wherein respective positions of mounting equipment has been illustrated.
4.1.6
Trailer Frame: It shall be of welded construction made up from Mild Steel
channel and of size 75 x 40 x 7.3 mm as per IS 808 with main members fabricated by using one
piece. All welded joints shall be properly designed and welded to transfer load to the main
members with fault free welding. The frame structure shall be manufactured using jigs for
interchangeability and fixtures for avoiding distortion. All cross members used for mounting
superstructure or for necessary strengthening shall be 75 x 40 x 7.3 mm size and cut from single
piece. The framework shall be painted with 2 coats of fire red rust preventive paint on an initial
coat of premium red oxide.
4.1.7
Suspended Wheel and Axle Assembly: It shall incorporate leaf springs as per IS
1135 to meet the load of the superstructure with matching shock absorbers and pneumatic tyres
of size 6 x 16.6 ply minimum. Nylon S/T pattern shall be used. The trailer shall also be fitted
with bump stops. The axle shall be so located as to ensure centre of gravity of the complete
trailer slightly forward so that the towing eye at a height of 65 cm from ground on a level plane
shall require a force of 50 +10 kg for lifting. Refer to drawing No. FESA 0020/A for details of
wheel assembly, axle, hub and brake. No part of the trailer shall have a clearance less than 23 cm
when the tow hook is from 65 to 45 cm from the ground. The mating portion of the axle and hub

shall be tapered to ensure proper alignment and fit and shall be welded all around to ensure a
strong joint.
4.1.8
Tow Hook and Brake Assembly: The trailer shall be fitted with tow hook having
minimum 75 mm internal diameter, forged in one piece with minimum 40 mm diameter cross
section. Refer to drawing No. FESA 0015/A for further details. To ensure that tow hook and
housing will withstand shock loads inherent under towing conditions, the tow hook, housing and
means of fixing the housing to the trailer chassis frame shall be strong enough to take care of a
draw pull of 1300 kg without getting overstressed.
4.1.9
Over Run Brake and Hand Brake: The braking arrangement in the trailer shall
be balanced in such a way that the trailer brakes act in accordance with wheel brake of the main
vehicle to avoid unstability of the trailer or jamming of the trailer wheels during mobility. An
independent positive action hand brake shall be provided in addition to the over run brake system
to apply hand brake and hold the trailer in position on maximum permissible inclination.
Arrangement shall be provided for limited reversing of the trailer for manoeuvrability. The pawl
and ratchet for the overrun brake shall be of high strength steel, adequately hardened to give
satisfactory trouble free service. Refer to drawing No. FESA 0017/A, FEPD 0033/A (sheet 1
& 2) for details. All linkages shall be rigidly supported and all bush bearings shall be of
replaceable type having lubrication arrangement. All connections would have tolerances within
the engineering design limits for the service intended. Sintered metal bushes of adequate size and
strength having permanent lubricating arrangement shall be preferred. Renewable type bushes
shall be provided between the tow hook and its housing and wherever necessary bushes/ shims
shall be provided to prevent undue play at the joints.
4.1.10
Draw Bar Assembly: It shall comprise of two handles each of minimum 40 mm
diameter and not less than 500 mm long which can be folded and secured along with the frame
when not in use, shall be provided at the front of the trailer frame. Refer to drawing
No. FESA0016/A for details. The towing arrangement shall be suitable for towing with service
vehicle. The man handling bars should not be foul with the towing vehicle during towing/ taking
turns.
4.1.11

Fitment Items: The trailer shall be fitted with the following accessories: a) Jack Stays: Four numbers jack stays, two at rear and two at front shall be fitted
to the body through bolted brackets. The bracket shall be forged. Arrangement
for locking the leg at any position shall be provided. Both ends of the jack legs
will be closed by welding plates. A dish shaped base plate with the curved edges
facing upwards shall be provided at the bottom end of each leg for bearing on the
ground. The base plate shall have 200 mm dia. and 6 mm thickness. Refer to
drawing No. FEPD 0034/A for details. Three equi-spaced holes of 10 mm dia.
shall be provided on the base plate to prevent accumulation of water. Three
equi-spaced ribs shall be welded between base plate and jack legs as a
re-enforcement. The legs shall have holes with pin and chain for holding the legs
at any position to avoid slippage during operation. The legs shall be so designed
that this do not interfere with the minimum ground clearance during mobility and
shall be so located that the trailer fire pump works satisfactorily during continuous
duty on pumping when parked and detached from the towing vehicle.
b) Four drag eyes cum lifting hooks shall be attached to the body through bolted
connection. Lifting eye shall be capable of movement around vertical axis. The

eyes shall be strong enough to lift the trailer by a crane for lowering it into a
closed space or for recovery of the trailer with a winch.
c) Two mudguards to be provided to the wheels with the frame work. rigidly
connected to the main body.
d) Two red coloured reflection type T-plates at the rear.
e) In case the engine fan or dynamo is driven by V belt, then a suitable guard
shall be provided for the V belt.
f) Four lifting hooks to be provided as per the drawing No. FEPD-0037/A at the
appropriate places on the frame of the trailer such that while lifting the trailer, no
part of the trailer superstructure fauls with the lifting slings/ wire ropes.
4.1.12
Body Work: It shall consist of structural framework for canopy, using MS angles
of minimum 25 x 25 x 2 mm thick. The engine fuel tank and radiator (if applicable) shall be
housed in a suitably designed canopy. The canopy shall have hinged side panels which can be
opened/ folded up during operation of the equipment. The side panel shall be lowered so as to
offer adequate ventilation and so designed as to facilitate easy access to all parts of the engine/
fuel tank/ radiator/ control panel during operation/ maintenance/ repair. Suitable clamps/ legs
shall be provided to hold the panels in the raised position and shall be robust enough to prevent
undue vibration. The side panels edges shall have neoprene rubber lining, duly riveted as well as
pasted with industrial adhesive to prevent undue vibration/ chattering. The side panels, when
lowered, shall be held in position by metallic type spring loaded clamps. The canopy shall be
made from 1.2 mm thick MS Sheet and shall be suitably reinforced to prevent flexing, deflection
and vibrations.
4.1.12.1
The control panel shall be located towards the rear end of the trailer so that the
gauges are visible when operating the pump. The gauges and switches/ controls shall be flush
mounted on an anodised single piece aluminium plate control panel stopping at an angle of 600
to the horizontal. Names of the gauges/ controls shall be anodised on to the panel. All wiring,
pipe lines, cables shall be routed with proper support along the structural members protected
from the damaging effect of heat, water, oil. Clamps shall be of heavy duty quality.
4.1.12.2
The clamp U shall be provided as per drawing No. FEPD 0035/A. The suction
hose shall be mounted on a minimum of four U type clamps for holding the hoses, lined with
aluminium sheathing duly riveted for protection against damage to the hoses and strong enough
for taking the load of the hose. In the housed position the suction hose shall not foul with the
hand brake. A cushion base plate shall be provided with suitable holding down arrangement in
the battery box to prevent the movement of battery.
4.1.13
A sheet metal pocket of size 250 mm width x 250 mm depth shall be provided in
the tool box for keeping literature of Trailer, Fire Pump (TEP) and engine.
4.1.14
Stability: The stability of the complete unit shall be such that under equipped and
loaded condition and with the front support to produce normal towing position, if the surface on
which the appliance stand is tilted to either side to an angle of 270 from the horizontal, the point
at which overturning occurs is not passed.

4.1.15
Weight: The weight of the complete unit equipped including (water, if watercooled engines) fuel and oil shall be within the permissible limit of the capacity of the trailer but
should not exceed 1300 kg in any case.
4.1.16
Performance: The trailer shall be capable of being towed at a speed of 64 km/h
on road fully laden with all accessories without any adverse effect on mobility, stability and life
of the trailer components. The trailer shall also be capable of being towed at a speed of 20 km/h
under off road and cross country conditions covering the following: (a)

Side slope : 270

(b)

The gradient up to 1 : 4 in both direction.

(c)

Full turning circle of 1 Ton vehicle in both direction.

DESCRIPTION

MATERIAL

6.1
The choice of material to be used in the construction of appliance shall be made
with a view to combine lightness with strength and durability. All pipe lines shall be hot dip
galvanized after welding of all fitments. All other fittings shall be of brass/ gun metal. Wherever
rubber components are used in waterways or for oil seals, water seals etc. they shall be of nitrile
rubber and shall be from makes of repute. Rubber washers shall conform to IS 937.
6.2
All parts exposed to or likely to come in contact with water shall either be of
corrosion resisting material or treated in an approved manner to prevent corrosion. All materials
shall be of fresh supply from reputed make, free from manufacturing defects. All fasteners shall
conform to IS standards, be heavy duty, galvanized/ cadmium coated and numbers kept
minimum possible in conformity with design requirements.

6.3
List of recommended makes is given in Appendix A attached. Vendor items,
where applicable, should of these approved make only. Other makes may be supplied only after
express approval of the Quality Assurance Authority. These items will be accepted against
manufactures certificate.
7.

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION

7.1

Engine

7.1.1
The engine shall be compression ignition type conforming to JSS 0303. The
engine shall have sufficient power to work the pump continuously at any point in the range
specified at Table 1 of Clause 7 of this specification and also shall have sufficient reserve power
to cater for loss of power between overhauls. The engine performance/ characteristics shall
match the pump characteristic to meet the specified output under full range of operating
condition. 10% of overload capacity shall be barred for this application after formal rating test.
7.1.2

The compression ignition engine be either air cooled or water cooled.

7.1.3
A lead acid battery of 12 V shall be provided. The engine shall have electrical
starting facility and complete with a starter, a generator, a regulator and connected wiring and
switches. A separate charging plug and low tension leads will also be provided to facilitate
charging of the battery from an external source/ bench charger. The above mentioned items shall
be factory new and OEMs test certificate shall be furnished during inspection.
7.1.4
The engine shall be provided with start pilot as cold starting aid suitably located at
the control panel with permanent connection to the inlet manifold of the engine for quick and
trouble free starting under low ambient temperature condition. A suitable operating anodized
aluminium instruction plate will be fixed near the start pilot.
7.1.5
In case of water-cooled engine, indirect cooling system of the open circuit type
shall be provided for cooling of the engine covering cylinder block as well as oil sump as
required to permit prolonged running of the pump. (12 hours continuous duty). The heat
exchanger shall have adequate capacity to meet engine cooling requirement under extreme
operating conditions. The heat exchanger tank shall be made of brass sheets to IS 410 and shall
be tested for leak proofness and quality of joint through hydraulic test of 0.5 kgf/cm2 . The
cooling coil shall be of heavy duty copper sufficient in length to ensure efficient cooling under
all operating conditions with necessary thermostat control to maintain engine working
temperature as specified by the engine manufacturer. The cooling coil circuit with all fitments
shall withstand a pressure of 1.5 times the pressure to which coil is subjected to, while operating
with full valve opened.
7.1.6
In case of air cooled engine, the cooling of the engine should be in accordance
with the recommendations of the engine manufacturer for prolonged operation of the pump with
maximum period of 12 hours continuous run..
7.1.7
The engine exhaust shall be arranged so as to discharge towards the towing hook
end. The exhaust routing should have minimum bends, properly clamped and sufficiently lagged
with 10 mm asbestos rope to prevent heat radiation to the surroundings and in order to maintain
low temperature rise for all surrounding components and avoid over heating, damage or fire risk.
The exhaust silencer shall be supplied by engine manufacturer as on OEM. For details of exhaust

mounting refer to drawing No. FESA 0019/A sheets 1 & 2 for assembly and drawing
No. FEPD 0036/A for details of parts/ components.
7.1.8
The engine fitted shall be preferably type tested and approved by R&D (Engrs),
Dighi, Pune - 411 015 or as approved by the engine AHSP i.e. CQA(E), Pune.
7.1.9
Copies of sub order for engine shall be forwarded to CQA(E), Pune and zonal
SQAE concerned for their necessary action and also to CQA(FE), Pune for information.
7.2

Fuel System

7.2.1
The fuel tank capacity should be sufficient to run the engine for four hours on full
load. Fuel tank content gauge shall be fitted on the control panel. The diesel tank shall be
supported properly with brackets, anti-vibration pads and clamps, and should have sufficient
space between the control panel and diesel tank for easy maintenance of various gauges and pipe
connections. All fuel line connections shall be heavy duty, properly clamped, free from heat
spots so as to avoid deterioration or damage. A fuel cock with brass mesh shall be provided at
the outlet of the fuel tank.
7.2.2
The filling orifice of the tank shall be provided with brass strainer. A cap shall be
clearly marked DIESEL.
7.2.3
A dip stick shall be provided for checking the oil level in the oil sump of the
engine. Lubricating oil pressure gauge and temperature gauge shall be provided duly calibrated
and marked for normal operation range. Red marking shall be done on the gauge to indicate the
danger zone i.e. pressure beyond recommended working range.
7.2.4
A shield of asbestos sheet, duly reinforced, shall be provided between the engine
and the fuel tank to prevent over heating of the fuel tank.
7.3

Pump

7.3.1
It shall conform to IS 5120 shall be of the centrifugal type and so designed as to
afford easy access to the impeller. It could be single or double stage but its characteristics should
match with the engine rating for continuous running. The pump casing and impeller shall be
made of gunmetal conforming to grade II of IS 318. The suction inlet pipe shall be inclined to
the horizontal by 150. The pump shaft shall be made of stainless steel conforming to the grade 04
Cr18 Ni10 of IS 6603 and shall be mounted on anti-friction bearings. The wearing ring shall
be renewable type and manufactured from high quality bronze Gde. 1 of IS 28. Glands of
suitable type shall be provided in case of single stage pump, the mechanical seal provided shall
be of approved make as per Appendix `A. A drain plug shall also be provided at the bottom of
the casing and so located as to facilitate easy removal of water. All tolerances shall conform to
the relevant IS. The manufacturers shall provide characteristic curves (Covering power absorbed,
head and efficiency Vs output) for the full operating range of the pump. They shall also submit
details on assembly and over hold periods and guaranteed minimum output/ power absorption
between overhauls.

7.3.2
The impeller shall be dynamically balanced and pump casing shall show no
leakage when subjected to hydraulic pressure of 1.5 times the shut off pressure of twice the rated
pressure whichever is more. The casting shall be free from casting defects. The rotating parts
should not rub against any of the stationary parts. An impeller nut shall be provided in addition
to keys/ splines to positively hold the impeller in position. The fit between key/ splines and
impeller shaft shall be proper without any undue play between them. The tolerance for width of
keys will be + 0.00 to -0.05 mm and that for width of key ways will be + 0.05 to -0.00 mm. The
clearance between a key way and key should not exceed 0.1 mm. The cast surfaces shall be sand
blasted and have smooth finish.
7.3.3
Output: The pump shall be capable of meeting the output specified in Table 1
when run at speeds not exceeding the continuous duty rated speed of the engine. For this output
the pump shall be tested while working with the suction hose, cylindrical strainer (excluding the
basket strainer) fitted as required to achieve the suction lift. The pump efficiency shall be more
than 60% at the rated outputs and the manufacturer shall declare the same along with technical
particulars of the pump used for the trailer.
8.

SITE CONDITIONS

8.2

De-rating in Output and Suction Lift:

8.2.1
The pump shall be capable of giving the above performance under ambient
conditions applicable to the engine and no deduction in output shall be allowed unless the engine
output calls for de-rating. Considering engine power de-rating at site conditions and taking into
consideration efficiency of the pump, the manufacturer will provide details of available outputs
at specified delivery pressure in steps of 100 m for altitude and in steps of 50C for temperature
for the range covered at Clause 8. This information will be provided in the form of a Table
incorporated in the User Hand Book. Regarding suction lift, the following reduction shall be
permissible: 300 mm for every 300 m increase in altitude above 300 m from the mean sea level.
8.3
The suction eye shall be provided with a standard 100 mm suction connection
with main round thread and a blank cap of gun metal duly chromium plated. There shall be two
delivery valves with 63 mm female instantaneous hose connections and aluminium blank caps.
The delivery valves shall be quick closing clock valve type conforming to IS 4928. They shall
provide three vent holes separated from each other by 1200 for relieving pressure between the
valve and blank caps. The blank cap shall be fastened to the pump with galvanized heavy duty
for chromium plated chains. (wire dia. 3 mm minimum).

8.4
The primer shall be capable of priming the pump with a suction lift of 7 m in a
maximum period of 25 seconds, with the engine operating within the maximum permissible
speed for continuous duty. The primer shall be designed for trouble free service between the
overhauls and shall cater for loss in efficiency due to usage in its design. Components that come
in contact with water shall be non-ferrous, not affected by blackish water and the assembly shall
be closely tolerenced for efficient functioning and long service life. All wearing parts shall be of
replaceable type. A dip stick shall be provided for the lubricating oil sump of primer, indicating
the upper and lower levels of lubricating oil.
8.5
The pump shall be directly coupled to the engine through flexible tyre type
coupling (fenner make) or propeller shaft coupling with two universal joints couplings with
proper alignment. The assembly of the pump and engine shall be as compact as possible. The
engine and pump should be mounted on flexible mountings so as to reduce vibration to the
minimum. The contractor shall give details of construction, material, assembly, tolerances,
normal maintenance intervals and overall intervals with necessary technical data for the engine
pump primer assembly.
9.

CONTROLS AND INSTRUMENTS

9.1

The following controls and instruments shall be provided on control panel:(a)

Ignition switch, with a light to show that the switch is in ON position.

(b)

Engine speed control wheel type and infinitely variable capable of being locked
in one position as required.

(c)

9.2

Means shall be provided to illuminate the controls and instruments.

9.2.1

Layout of the gauges and controls shall be as per drawing No. FEPD 0038/A

9.3
Electrical Fitting : - The trailer shall be fitted with electrical items of best
commercial quality as approved by the AHSP. The electrical wiring shall be of heavy duty
quality PVC, insulated to withstand the operating temperature and other environmental
conditions, with copper core and amperage rating as required for the service. It should have
properly colour coded end connections with soldered lugs. Minimum number of joints using
copper/ brass terminals, fuse box located at a central place having cartridge type fuses for each
independent circuit. The fuse box shall be properly covered for safety and security. All lights
shall be heavy chrome plated for long trouble free service life. The following lights shall be
provided: (a)

Two tail lights, 100 mm dia. For mobility with necessary wiring and socket to
connect the lights to the towing vehicle.

(b)

Two spot lights, one in the front and the other at the rear, each 50 mm dia., 50 W,
12 V with swivelling joints properly connected to the body through a bracket for
movement in horizontal as well as vertical plane for directing the light at night
towards operational area. It should be possible to raise the spot lights vertically
through a height of 1 m and lock it at any desired position.

(c)

One light inside the canopy and over the engine to facilitate repairs at night. This
light shall be similar to the one provided on the control panel.

10.

WORKMANSHIP AND FINISH

10.1

The appliance shall have smooth finish and workmanship of high quality.

10.2
It shall be ensured that appropriate type of fasteners and lock washers of metric
sizes only are used in the fabrication of the equipment.

10.3
All metallic surfaces (internal and external) of the equipment shall be painted with
two coats of paint, RFU, Red oxide of Iron and Zinc chromate, universal, synthetic (brushing/
spraying) conforming to IS 2074 and two coats of paint, fire red to shade number 536 of IS 5.
The finishing paint shall conform to IS 2932.
10.4
All fasteners and general hardware items shall be applied with rust prevention
coating, such as galvanizing, cadmium/ chrome plating, to avoid rusting during service life.
10.5
For all fabrication work and components tolerances as per relevant IS
specification shall be adopted to ensure uniformity and interchangeability wherever possible.
Repeat fabrication and assembly shall be carried out on jigs and welding shall be as per approved
standard of welding for structural fabrication with necessary edge preparation and all major
welding defects such as slag inclusion, under putting, severe distortion, improper penetration
shall not be present.
10.6
The manufacturer shall posses manufacturing drawings for all items of own make
covering manufacture of components, sub assembly, assembly and show these to Quality
Assurance Authority as part of Pilot Sample approval action.
11.

TOOLS AND ACCESSORIES

11.1
Tools:- In addition to the tools, accessories and spares supplied with the engine,
the following items will also be supplied with each equipment. The tools shall be securely
located in the tool box with hasp, staple, picklock and 2 keys to lock the box.

A number plate of the size 45 x 12 cm at the rear of the trailer will be provided
duly painted with two coats of primer paint and one coat of finishing paint of black colour.
13.

PRE-INSPECTION OF STORES/ CONSIGNMENT

13.1
Manufacturers/ suppliers shall satisfy themselves that the stores are in accordance
with the terms of the contract and fully conform to the specifications by carrying out a thorough
pre-inspection of each lot before actually tendering the same for inspection to the Quality
Assurance Officer nominated under the terms of contract. A declaration by the contractor that
necessary pre-inspection has been carried out on the stores tendered, will be submitted along
with the challan. The declaration will also indicate the methods followed in carrying out preinspection showing the features checked/ tested and will have the test certificate attached to the
challan/ declaration.

13.2
If the Quality Assurance Officer finds that pre-inspection of the consignment as
required above has not been carried out, the consignment is liable for rejection.
14.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

14.1
The contractor shall extend to the Quality Assurance Authority or AHSP or his
authorised representatives, all reasonable facilities for inspection, testing of stores including
inspection gauges, free of cost, for satisfying himself that the stores are manufactured in
accordance with this specification. For this purpose, he shall have free access to the contractors
and sub-contractors works at all times during the currency of the contract. The contractor shall
notify of all sub-contracts placed by him and provide quality assurance facilities for all stores so
sub-contracted.
14.2
No deviation will be accepted from governing design/ specification without
concurrence in writing of the Controller, CQA(FE), Pune. No request for any deviation will be
entertained from sub-contractor, if any but only through main contractor. The main contractor
shall be responsible for quantity and quality of the stores given by the sub-contractor.
14.3
The contractor shall give clause by clause confirmation or otherwise to
specification requirements referred herein for proper evaluation and scrutiny quotation by AHSP.
14.4
The contractor shall submit the following particulars along with their offer,
besides conforming all details as per specification, clause by clause.

14.5

(a)

Material schedule, standards of manufacture, fabrication details, covering all


essential particulars of the equipment offered.

(b)

Technical details of bought items with their brand names and characteristics.

(c)

Pump output with performance/ characteristics curve duly supported by certificate


from approved laboratory.

(d)

Technical comments on the equipment offered, covering salient feature of


performance reliability, efficiency, fuel economy etc.
Bulk inspection shall be carried out as per Test Schedule.

14.6
The stores shall be inspected at the suppliers premises for satisfactory
performance and proper packaging before despatch to the destinations.
14.7
Pilot Sample : The pilot sample will be run for minimum of 100 hours trouble
free operation. During this period it shall be examined for its conformity to the relevant
specification, consistency of performance, reliability, output pressure, overheating, mechanical
damage etc. The unit shall be towed at a speed of 64 km/h on tarmac road for 200 km and at a
speed approximately 20 km/h over cross-country for a distance of 100 km to check the sturdiness
of trailer assembly. Thereafter the equipment will be subjected to 12 hours endurance trail for its
trouble free performance followed by examination for undue wear/ damage of components.

N.B.: Firms crew, while testing Pilot Sample, should report at site well in time to
operate the equipment during testing cycles and to explain the controls and safety devices
embodied in the equipment.
14.8
The pump for pilot sample shall be stage inspected by zonal Quality Assuarance
Officer before forwarding the same to the CQA(FE), Pune for ascertaining efficiency of the
pump. The manufacturer shall submit the following information: (a)

Pump impeller balance certificate.

(b)

Hydraulic test certificate.

(c)

Material test certificate.

(d)

Pump rating characteristics and curves.

(e)

Test bars for the materials of impeller and stainless steel shaft.

15.

LITERATURE

15.1
The following technical literature on complete equipment as well as engine shall
be supplied free of cost as per Defence format available from the AHSP according to quantity
covered in the supply order.

Illustrated Part Identification List (IPL)

15.1.1

User Hand Book

15.1.1.1
The User Hand Book shall cover normal operation instructions for the complete
equipment and shall be made in two parts. Part I shall contain chapter wise information on the
following : (a)

General view of the equipment covering identification of main sub-assemblies


and overall dimensions.

(b)

Complete technical data of the equipment covering all items assembly wise.

(c)

Instructions on installation, commissioning and operation of the equipment.


Including regular maintenance as required for each sub-assembly, special
instruction, if any and precautions in the form of dos and donts.

(d)

Maintenance instruction should cover lubrication points, points for adjustment of


normal wear, attention to electrical circuits with colour coded wiring diagram,
attention to control equipment with necessary identification.

(e)

Trouble shooting chart covering all aspects of operations faults and remedies.

Technical details as per clause 8.2.1 of specification will be incorporated in the


User Hand Book.

Appropriate and adequate pages with formats be included in the User Hand Book

Part II shall contain illustrated instructions for complete overhaul of the
equipment i.e. dismantling, repair and assembly supported by necessary photographs or
diagrams, necessary assembly clearance and discarding limits. Reference to part identification
list may be made for identifying correct part to cover overhauling instructions. This will contain
comprehensive instructions covering each sub-assembly and trailer as a whole.

along with the trailer literature but essential operation and running maintenance of the engine
shall be covered in the main hand book with cross reference to the engine literature.
15.2.2
Three sets of literature for engine and the trailer shall be supplied to the AHSP i.e.
CQA(FE), Pune.
15.2.3
In addition to this, set of literature as required by the indentor shall be supplied as
per demand. However, one set of literature will accompany each trailer.

15.2.4
Draft literature on complete equipment (less engine) as per clause 15.1.1.1 and
15.1.1.2 shall be submitted to CQA(FE), Pune in quadruplicate for technical scrutiny and
approval along with the pilot sample. The bulk printed literature shall be supplied along with the
first lot of the equipment accepted by Quality Assurance Officer as per distribution given in the
supply order/ acceptance of tender.
15.3
The firm shall be responsible for supplying following information for allotment of

WARRANTY

16.1
The stores supplied shall bear a warranty as per contract. In absence of such
clause, the following clause shall apply :16.2
The stores supplied against this specification shall be deemed to bear a warranty
of the contractor against defective design, material, workmanship and performance for a period
of 12 months from the date of receipt of stores by the consignee. During the period if any of
stores is found to be defective by the consignee, the same shall be replaced by the supplier, free
of any charge at the consignees end but not later than 3 months on receipt of such intimation.
17.

PACKAGING

17.1
The tools and accessories shall be securely packed to avoid damages in the transit
so as to reach in perfect serviceable and fit conditions to consignee. The packaging shall be
clearly marked with consignees address and other necessary details for easy identification of the
stores by the consignee.
