I. INTRODUCTION
ICQI-II International Conference on Quran Translations in India
and Their Impacts on Society (ICQTIS), aims at bringing out fresh
researches on the Indian contributions in Quranic studies, is scheduled
to be held on 14th 15th January 2017, at Darul Huda Islamic University in
India. The conference hopes to gather scholars, researchers and

This conference is conducted by Department Quran and Related
Sciences of Darul Huda Islamic University. The conference offers a
large number of invited lectures from renowned speakers all over the

II. SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES

India has a great legacy of Quran translations and related
developments both in Arabic and vernacular languages. There are a lot
of Indian scholars who made their valuable contributions to the area of
Quran translations similar to or exceeding the other fields of Islamic
studies. While the modern academia is aware of the globally renowned
translation works, the majority of Indian contributions were overlooked
due to some yet to be explored reasons. With exception of some
attempts, little has been done to collect the details of these works in a
comprehensive and academic way. This conference aims to set a wider
platform for academicians, experts and research scholars to exchange
their knowledge related to the contributions of India to the field of
Quran translations.

III. TOPICS OF INTEREST

The conference will discuss the key areas related to the
following topics:
Questions on the moral propriety of Quran translations.
Historical development of Quran translations.
Major Indian translations and their authors.

Quran translations in Indian vernacular languages and their

impacts on the historical and social developments of Muslim
community.
Methodological diversity of Quran translations in terms of
rhetoric, topic of discussion and the periodical changes.
Means of spreading the interpretations like printing and oral
transmissions.
Quran translations among Kerala Muslims.
Disputes and discussions of Quran translations among Kerala
Muslim scholars.
Besides, all contributions related to the theme of the
conference would be accepted.
