CARACTERISTICS (WHAT IS POP ART?)

Pop art estarted in England in the nineteen fifties and made its way to the united states in
the nineteen sixties, the term pop our first appeared in Britain and refer to the images of
mass media advertising comics and consumer products .

Pop art fucuses attention upon familiar images with in popular culture, also, concided with
the youth and pop music phenomenon of the nineteen fifties and sixties and became very
part of the image of the fashionable and hip London see.
Pop artist share the same interest and involve the use of existing imagery for mass,
images already processed and all media advertising and even comic strips for favorite
subjects in the consumer society.
Pop artists left the holy temple of art behind and aproached an. Empty canvas as an_
oportunity to address the visual noise of the daily visual environment such as magazine
illustrations, advertisements in comics.

They realized and agreed that it was time to focus on the now and _on the popular culture
by bringing to the contemporary art the voculabulary of the masses and by embracing
elements previously considered folder by the art Word.

ANDY WARHOL

He was Born in Pittsburg in nineteen twenty eight and He dedicated to pinting, advertising
and film.

In his art He wants to show the banality of everyday life through the systematic repetition
with colored industrial process from photographs such as Liz Taylor or Marilyn Monroe
images. The advertisement appears as the star of many of his works such is the case with
Coca Cola, Campbell tomato soup, etc.
ROY LICHTENSTEIN

Naci en Nueva York en 1923 y muri recientemente. A partir de 1957 comenz a

experimentar con sus interpretaciones a gran escala de comics. Son inmterpretaciones
muy libres, mezcladas con cuadros antiguos y reproducidas a mano con la tcnica de
puntos de color puro y brillante. Son obras muy grandes, de fcil visualizacin pero
compleja interpretacin y que incluso presentan textos en los populares "bocadillos".
