The document discusses several topics related to information systems and management:
1. It describes two main approaches to MIS development: the technical approach which is based on mathematical models and prioritizes technology, and the behavioral approach which focuses on how systems impact user behavior.
2. It lists benefits of relational database models including ease of use, flexibility, and precision in linking data between tables.
3. It compares client-server networks to peer-to-peer networks, noting that client-server networks allow for centralized control and management through centralized file storage on servers.
4. It discusses how information technology can provide infrastructure to support business operations, management, and competitive advantage through networks and databases.

Ques 2 The various contemporary approaches to MIS development can be summarized as:
1. The Technical Approach
a) Based on the mathematical and the normative models. b) Physical technology forms the back bone of such an approach. c) Such an approach mainly finds much needed contributions from the disciplines like computer science, management science, operations research etc. 2. The Behavioral Approach a) Based on the impact of the behavior and also on the response of the people in the organization. b) Motivational Feasibility forms a very important and demanding part of such an approach towards MIS development. Ques 3 Benefits of Relation base model. Relational Database Model is widely used around the world, as its:1. Easy to use: In Relational model data is easily presented & visible. So revision becomes quite easy as the information is stored insimple tables & rows. Such data is attractive for the first time user.2. Flexibility:An operator or a user can easily link & extract the data & can get the desired information easily.3. Precision: The usage of relational algebra and calculus in the manipulation of the relations between the tables ensures thatthere is no ambiguity (doubtfulness or uncertainty), which may otherwise come while establishing the links in a complicated network type database. Object-oriented databases are able to handle complex types of data (graphics, pictures, voice, and text)better than other structures .They are relatively easy to use, and they are the key technology being used in multimedia-based applications for the Internet and corporate Intranets and extranets. As well, they support inheritance - new objects can be automatically created by replicating some or all of the characteristics of one or more parent objects. Ques 4 Client Server there was one powerful computer (known as server) which acts asa provider of information to other sub-ordinate workstations (called client). Now Let us discuss the benefits and drawbacks of Server-Client computing over P2Pcomputing: Advantages of Client Server Networks over Peer to Peer Networks 1) Centralization:Unlike P2P, where there is no central administration, here in thisarchitecture there is a centralized control. Servers help in administering the wholeset-up. Access rights and resource allocation is done by Servers. (2)Proper Management:All the files are stored at the same place. In this way, management of files becomes easy. Also it becomes easier to find files. Ques 5 Information technology plays a vital role in the success of an enterprise. For example, the Internet and Internet-like internal networks, orintranets, and external interorganizationa lnetworks, called extranets, can provide the in formation infrastructure a business needs for efficient operations, effective management, and competitive advantage
Ques 6 Network topology is different modes of network hierarchy. For e.g.
bus, start, mesh, fully mesh topology. Basically its the means through which you can design your network Ques 7 The increasing complexity of conducting business in todays environment dictates thatmanagement be presented witha comprehensive picture of the company as a whole. Additionally, these cross-functional, integrated, systems put inevidence the interrelations between different functional areas and the effect they have on the organization.Functionalsilo systems, while very effective in helping managers manage their specific area do not provide thesecapabilities. Integrated systems allow modern organizations to stay flexible to changes in their environment and reactpromptly across the board. It could be argued that functional integration within the organization is a necessary, but notsufficient, condition to stay competitive in the marketplace Ques 8 Sales force automation, would increase sales person productivity, allow for better managem ent of marketing resources, and provide a competitive advantage. Allowing the the Marketin g department to see what tactics are being best utilized by their sales force allows for greate r control in target marketing. Targetmarketing has proven to be more effective for sales volu me that blanket marketing campaigns. Having a better idea what marketing tactics are bein g effective allows you to spend more of your resources on that tactic. Better resource manag ement regardless of area provides a competitive advantage.
