Description
This monument was built by means of
memorizing the spirit of Indonesian to
fight against the Dutch colonialist.
Sharpened bamboo (Bambu Runcing) is
one of the remarkable traditional weapon
used
by
Indonesian
people.
This
monument is located on Panglima
Sudirman Street.
Monumen Kapal Selam (Monkasel) or the
Submarine Monument showcases the
retired Pasopati 410, a Russian submarine
SS Type Whiskey Class. The ship was
involved in the Mandala Operation in 1961
and a great sea-war in Laut Aru (Arafuru
Sea). This monument is located at Pemuda
Street, next to Plaza Surabaya

At first, Plaza Surabaya was a hospital
built in era of Japanese colonial named
Simpang Hospital. This mall is also one of
the biggest mall in Surabaya. Plaza
Surabaya provide almost all thing you
need during shopping. This mall is located

Balai Pemuda was the center and base of
youth movement during the Independence
war. But now, Balai Pemuda is used as the
cultural and conference center. Many of
traditional and modern cultural attraction
held here. This place also used as the
information center for foreign tourist to
know more about Surabaya. This landmark
is located on Gubernur Suryo Street.

Built

colonial
government, the prison housed many
criminals and political figures during
the
era.
Even

president, Soekarno, once spent time
there. Now it is not used anymore and
some of the building parts have been
destroyed.
Hotel Ibis known as the cigarette
building because the shape of its roof.
In the past, this building had been the
office of a sugar company. Built in
1916, the hotel is located in Rajawali
Street.
