HFX400 - ANTENNA 1.5 TO 30 MHz.
SPECIFICATIONS: BAND - 1.5 TO 30 MHz. SA Patent: 82:5325 87:0941
: VSWR - < 1.1:1 TO 2.0:1, THROUGHT THE RANGE. USA Patent: 4571596
: POWER HANDELING - 400 WATTS. British Patent: 2102629
: IMPEDANCE – 50OHMS Australian Patent: 549083
: LENGTH – 25 METERS.

INSTALLATION GUIDELINES:

1. The antenna as far away as possible from other antennas or metal objects.
2. Take into account that florescent lights and personal computers cause excessive noise on low HF bands.
3. To ensure optimum high angle night time use and lower angle day time use, ensure that the antenna wires are angled not less
than 50 degrees from the vertical mast (The flatter the angle the better). A good operation height is 15 meters.
4. Unroll dipole wire in the opening where it is to be installed. Place the fibreglass spacers on the dipole where the wire is
marked with yellow tape. Remove the rubber grommets from the spacer tips, open the grommet where it is split, place the
grommet over the dipole wire next to the marks, hook spacer spring over the grommet and if necessary close the spring
opening a little with a set of pliers so as to ensure that it will not move. The antenna wire spacers are weighed to ensure that
the dipole stays in a vertical position. Larger springs are to be placed at the bottom and shorter spring faces the top.
5. Hook dipole balun box to flagpole rope, connect wires to balun and tighten M6 nuts. Hook thimbles over pigtails.
6. Antenna can now be hoisted up the flag pole, to a height of around 15 meters.
7. To extend the dipole wires use the non-rot, non-stretch polyester cable.
8. The HFX400 can be connected to the transmitter using the 30 meters 50 ohm RG213 coaxial cable.
9. No earthling is required for radio frequency operation, but the metal mast that is used should be earthed for safety purposes.
10. No Antenna tuning unit is required due to the antennas 50 ohm broadband characteristics.
11. Installation accessories needed: Mast offset bracket (flag pole option), 30 meters of RG213 feeder cable, 6 meters Polyester
securing cable & 300mm vulcanising tape. (These are items not supplied with antenna as standard kit)
