1. Find the midpoint of the segment joining the points (4, -2) and (-8,6).
2. Find the distance between the points (3, -2) and (6,4).
3. What is the slope of the line passing through the points (4,6) and (-1,-2)?
4. M is the midpoint of AB . The coordinates of A are (-2,3) and the coordinates of M are
(1,0). Find the coordinates of B.
5. Find AB.

6. Which point satisfies the linear quadratic system y = x + 3 and y = 5 x2?


7. Find the slope of a line perpendicular to the line whose equation is 2y + 6x = 24.
8. Find the midpoint of the segment connecting the points (a, b) and (5a, -7b).
9. Find the radius of a circle whose diameter has endpoints (-3, -2) and (7, 8).
10. Find the equation of the line parallel to the line whose equation is y = 6x + 7 and whose
y-intercept is 8.
11. (SPM 1993) Point P and point Q have a coordinate of (4,1) and (2, 4). The straight line
QR is perpendicular to PQ cutting x-axis at point R. Find
(a) the gradient of PQ
(b) the equation of straight line QR
(c) the coordinates of R.

12. (SPM 2001) Given the points P(8, 0) and Q(0, -6). The perpendicular bisector of PQ
intersects the axes at A and B. Find
(a) the equation of AB
(b) the area of AOB , where O is the origin.

13. (SPM 2002) Given that A(1, 2) and B(2, 1) are two fixed points. Point P moves such
that the ratio of AP to PB is always 1: 2.
