SUBJECT OF AUDITOR NOTE Electrical Systems/Machinery/Plant
Potential Risk to be Checked Electrical plants Have risks related to electrical Plant been properly evaluated in the internal Risk Analysis? Does the company have the legal declaration of conformity of the electrical system/machinery/Plant, where necessary (e.g.: in the EU region this is a must)? Is electrical Plant built and maintained to prevent hazards deriving from accidental contact with dangerous elements? Is electrical Plant built and maintained to prevent fire and/or explosion risks deriving from emergency conditions? Does the Plant have proper labels indicating technical features, tension, current strength, etc.? Is the insulation of the conductors been considered and deemed adequate for the current loading? Are the metallic parts connected to earth? Are there proper carpets and/or insulated platforms to operate electric panels when requested? Is there proper protection against accidental contact with conductors and/or parts under tension? Is there proper protection against over voltage and or overload? Has the Plant been evaluated for protection against atmospheric discharges? When necessary is there proper protection against atmospheric discharges? Are all operating devices placed in proper closed electric panels? Are all electrical storage/discharge units, such as, condensers, transformers closed in an external casing? Is all equipment working with a tension > 1000 V located in separated rooms or closed areas (also electric motors when not coupled with operating machines)? Are doors of these close areas kept closed? Is the oil for electric transformers properly stored e.g.: dedicated tank?

Are batteries of electric accumulators located in proper rooms without other electric or thermal apparatus and is there proper illumination, closed door and adequate signage? Have the electric bypass plugs been provided with proper upstream switch to allow to plug and unplug while the circuit is opened? Are there electric portable devices? Are the electric portable devices functioning only with low voltage tension? (ex <400V a. c. and <600V d.c.) Are electrical portable devices utilised outside functioning with low voltage tension? (ex <220V) Are electrical portable devices, utilised inside within very humid areas or big metallic masses, functioning with a very low tension? (ex <50V) Have electric portable devices a proper insulated metallic casing connected to earth? Is the switch of the electric portable devices easy and safe to use? Are there electric portable lights? Is the handgrip of the electric portable lights adequate? (Not hygroscopic, properly insulated, with protective cage for the lamp) Are the electric portable lights, used in very humid areas and/or big metallic masses, functioning with a very low tension (ex <25V) and contained inside a glass casing? Is the section of the conductors used for earth connection adequate to the local/international technical norm (ex 16 mm2 copper, 50 mm2 iron)? Are the earth conductors properly welded or bolted to metallic parts/structures and protected? Are the missing devices for earth properly realized so that resistance is adequate to technical local/international norm (ex <200Ohm for electrical systems up to 1000 V)? Have gas/air/water or similar pipes been used for grounding? Are the grounding systems periodically verified? Is the period in compliance with the local legislation (when needed)? Is there evidence of checks? In areas with risk of explosion and/or of fire is the

electric system adequate?
Are there wiring diagrams, schemes, drawings and working instructions of the electric system? Are they updated? Have workers a copy of updated wiring diagrams, schemes, drawings and working instructions of the electric system? Is it formally forbidden to work on parts under tension? If it is necessary to work on electric machinery, is the electric circuit preventively opened? Are there proper signals and/or formal information? Are the electric systems designed, realized and maintained by qualified personnel? Is the electric system realized according to local/international technical norms (by the rule book)? Are there formal procedure to allow technical services on electric systems? When necessary is there a drawing explaining and classifying different areas for risks of explosion and fire? Are there multi plugs placed on ground? Are they overcharged? Are the multi plugs properly positioned/insulated? Are there electric cables lying on the ground? Are they properly protected/insulated? Are there electric cables not held in cable trunking? Are they properly protected/insulated?
