We had a great week beginning Mornings in Jenin! The class is so engaged and bringing in wonderful ideas for discussion! This week we are continuing to focus on Mornings in Jenin. We will finish last weeks examination of imagery and the theme of nature, and start to connect that to characterization to explore how the characters are tied to the land in multiple ways. We will also look at the manipulation of time and time frames within the story and how this impacts the narrative. We will focus on pairs of characters and how their relationships reflect historical developments, and conclude with a conversation about the role that storytellers play within the novel itself.
