RSA Soft Token Order and Installation Instructions for Personal Desktop/Laptop

If you have not previously ordered a Soft Token, follow the steps under Ordering a Soft Token. Otherwise, if
you are trying to install your Soft Token onto another device, follow the steps under Deploying your Soft Token
to another Device.

Ordering a Soft Token

NOTE: all steps in this section MUST be performed


while you are on the Ford Network (i.e., at work or
connected via VPN).

Open a Web Browser and go to


https://www.cns.ford.com/securid/orderinginfo.asp.

Click on the Order Token button and follow the onscreen instructions to submit a Soft Token Order.

2. Use the Re-Deploy SoftToken request option


and follow the instructions to re-deploy your Soft
Token.

Once your Soft Token order is approved, you will


receive two emails from securid@ford.com with the
subject Soft Token (request# XXXX).
a. One email will have the SecurID Soft Token
(.sdtid) file attached to it.
b. The other email will have the Password for
the Soft Token file. The Password is required
to import the Soft Token file into the RSA
SecurID Software Authenticator
application.

3. Once your request is submitted, you will receive two


emails from securid@ford.com with the subject Soft
Token (request# XXXX).
a. One email will have the SecurID Soft Token
(.sdtid) file attached to it.
b. The other email will have the Password for
the Soft Token file. The Password is required
to import the Soft Token file into the RSA
SecurID Software Authenticator
application.

Forward these two emails - one at a time - to your


personal email address that you use at Home.

Installing the RSA Software on your Home Desktop/Laptop

From your Home Desktop PC/Laptop download the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator application. Click
on the matching link below that corresponds to the OS that you are using on your Home computer.
a. For Windows, click or copy and paste the link below into a Web Browser to download the ZIP file:
https://www.secureauth.ford.com/rsa_packages/rsasecuridtoken411.zip.
When prompted, save the ZIP file to a folder of your choice on your computer.
On your computer, open the folder where you saved the ZIP file in the above step. (Note: for
Windows, use My Computer or Windows Explorer to navigate to the folder).
Double-click on the zip file to reveal its contents.
Double-click on the RSASecurIDToken411.msi file within the ZIP.
If prompted, click on Run.
On the Welcome screen, click Next.
On the Place of Purchase screen, select North America as the region where your company
ordered the software and click Next.
In the License Agreement screen, read the license agreement, and select I accept the terms in
the license agreement before clicking Next.
On the next screen, select the Typical Installation option and click Next.
Click Install.
When the installation is complete, leave the checkbox for Launching RSA SecurID Software
Token unchecked and click Finish.
b. For MAC OS X, click or copy and paste the below link into a Web Browser to download the DMG file:
https://www.secureauth.ford.com/rsa_packages/rsasecuridmac411.dmg.
On the Dock, click the Downloads icon.
Click the RSASecurIDToken410.dmg file.
The Finder will open and display the RSA SecurID Software Token Installer.
Double-click RSASecurIDSoftwareToken411.mpkg.
When prompted to continue, click Continue.
On the Welcome screen, click Continue.
On the Software License Agreement screen, do one of the following:
Use the scroll bar to read the license agreement.
Click Print to print the license agreement.
Click Save to save the license agreement.
Click Continue to open the license agreement dialog box.
To read the license agreement, if you did not do so previously, click Read License. When you
are ready to continue installing the software, click Agree.
Click Install.
In the Password field, enter your administrator password and click OK.
The software will be installed and a Summary screen will display a success message.
Click Close.
To delete the installation files, drag the mounted image (RSA SecurID) to the Trash, and then
drag RSASecurIDToken411.dmg to the Trash.

Verify the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator application is installed by checking for a menu item. If it
exists, then the application is installed; however, DO NOT start the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator
application yet.
a. Windows: Check for the menu item under Start > All Programs > RSA > RSA SecurID Token >.
b. Mac: Check for SecurID within Applications.

Configuring/Importing your SecurID Soft Token


NOTE: Since the SecurID token is dependent on your local time, ensure that your Personal Device is configured to
the correct Date, Time and Time Zone.

Find the Soft Token (request# XXXX) email with the attachment that you forwarded to your home email
address.

Double-click on the Soft Token (.sdtid) attachment.

When prompted to open or save, click on Save and save the file to your My Documents for Windows or
Documents for Mac OS X folder

10. Once you have saved the (.sdtid) file from the Soft Token (request# XXXX) email to your desktop, open the
second email with the subject Soft Token (request# XXXX) that you forwarded to your home email address.
a. This email has the password required to import the Soft Token into the RSA SecurID Software
Authenticator application.
b. The password present in this email will be used in the step 13.
11. Start the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator application.
a. On Windows, the application, by default, is added to the Start Menu:
Start > All Programs > RSA > RSA SecurID Token > RSA SecurID Token
b. On Mac, the application, by default, is added to the Applications directory:
Go to Applications and double-click on SecurID.
12. You will be prompted for the Soft Token files password.
13. Enter the password (without the quotation marks) from the email opened in step 10 into the Enter File
Password box.
14. Click OK.
15. When prompted, do not change the token name, and then click OK.

Setting and Verifying a PIN


16. If you have not already set a PIN for your Soft Token on another device, proceed with the steps below to Set
and Verify your Soft Token PIN. Otherwise, in this document, go to section Verifying that your Soft Token is
Authenticating Properly (Step 17).
a. Open a web browser on your computer.
b. Go to https://www.secureauth.ford.com/login.cgi
c. Enter your CDSID in the CDS ID field.
d. Start the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator application.
Start > All Programs > RSA > RSA SecurID Token > RSA SecurID Token

e. When prompted to Enter PIN in the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator application, click on the Blue
Right Arrow button or press Enter on your keyboard. DO NOT enter anything into the Enter PIN field.

f.

A TOKENCODE is displayed.

g. Click the Copy button to copy the tokencode from the application.

In the sample picture above, the Tokencode is 49059900.


h. Return to your browser window from Step (16b) and paste (i.e., Crtl+v) or manually type the Tokencode
into the Passcode field.

Click Submit.

A panel will be presented that asks you to enter the PIN that you would like to use for your Soft Token.
The PIN that you set and memorize is an important part of the SecurID tokens secure authentication
operation.
The PIN is a 4 to 8 digit number that you select. For added security, we strongly recommend an
8 digit PIN. Choose a digit sequence that you will be able to memorize.
Do not choose a PIN that is related to your social security number.
Do not choose a PIN that is related to the SecurID Tokens serial number.
The PIN cannot begin with a zero (0). 01234567, 05473214, etc are invalid PINs.

k. Enter the same 4 to 8 digit PIN in both the New PIN and Verity New PIN boxes.

l.

Click Send.

m. After clicking Send, you should see yellow text which says: Your new pin was accepted, wait until next
TOKENCODE, and then login again.
n. Return to the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator application.
o. Wait for the Tokencode to change from the value previously used and then click on the Re-enter PIN
button.

p. Click in the blank space provided next to Enter PIN and enter your new PIN that you created above, then
click on the Blue Right Arrow button or press Enter on your keyboard.

q. A new Passcode is displayed on the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator application screen. Click
the Copy button to copy the Passcode from the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator application.

In the example above, the Passcode is 81649961. Your PIN is automatically part of the passcode.
r.

Return to the Web Browser screen from step 16m.

s. Enter your CDSID in the CDS ID field.


t.

Paste (i.e. Crtl+v) or manually type the Passcode into the Passcode field. DO NOT enter your PIN into
the web pages Passcode field.

u. Click Submit.

v. You should see the following message on the web browser: Your PASSCODE has been verified. You
are now logged in.

Verifying that your Soft Token is Authenticating Properly


17. Perform the following steps any time you want to verify that your Soft Token is authenticating properly.
a. Open a new web browser and got to https://www.secureauth.ford.com/login.cgi.
b. Enter your CDSID in the CDS ID field.
c. Start the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator application.
d. Enter your PIN and click the Blue Right Arrow button or press Enter on your keyboard.

e. A Passcode is displayed.
f. Click the Copy button to copy the Passcode.

g. Go back to the web browser and either paste (i.e. ctrl+v) or manually type the Passcode into the
Passcode field on the web page.

h. Click Submit.
i. You should receive a message that your passcode has been verified.
If your Passcode cannot be verified, close the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator
application and start again from Step (17a).

Using your Soft Token for VPN/WebVPN/OWA Access


1. Open the Remote application (VPN, WebVPN, OWA).
2. When prompted for your Passcode, start the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator application.
3. Enter your PIN and click the Blue Right Arrow button or press Enter on your keyboard.

4. A Passcode is displayed.
5. Click the Copy button to copy the Passcode.

6. Go back to the Remote Application and either paste (i.e., ctrl+V) or manually type the Passcode into the
Passcode/Password field on the Remote Application.

7. Click Submit/Send/etc button.


8. You should receive a message that your passcode has been verified and you should be allowed into the
Remote Application.
a. If your Passcode cannot be verified, close the RSA SecurID Software Authenticator application
and start again from Step 1.

Troubleshooting Soft Token Issues


1. For Self-Service troubleshooting when you are on the Ford Network, follow these steps:
a. Open a web browser and go to https://www.securidreg.ford.com.
b. On the left-hand menu, click on Token Status.
c. Follow the on-screen prompts/directions and perform the recommended actions.
