integrated and coordinated system engineered and designed in accordance with the requirements
of referenced codes and standards including but not limited to:

All operable vents and doors required as a part of the smoke management system will be provided
with motorized actuators linked to the main fire alarm control panel (FACP) and the fireman's
smoke control station (FSCS); self-adjusting upon installation with electronic stops in intermediate
closing positions in case of overload; accessories, power supplies, switches and controls. Provide
single and tandem operating actuators as required to accommodate window and doors. Doors and
windows shall have a manual override as described in Division 16 Section "Fire Detection, Voice
Evacuation & Fireman's Telephone System", All doors used in smoke management shall be
operated by motion detector.

Delegated Design: Design automatic doors and windows, including comprehensive engineering
analysis by a qualified. professional engineer, using performance requirements and design criteria
indicated.

Structural Performance: Automatic doors and windows shall withstand the effects of gravity loads

QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.

Manufacturer Qualifications: A manufacturer with company certificate issued by AAADM.

B.

Installer Qualifications: Manufacturer's authorized representative who is trained and approved for
installation and maintenance of units required for this Project.

Maintenance Proximity: Not more than two hours' nannal travel time from Installer's place
of business to Project site.

C.

Certified Inspector Qualifications: Certified by AAADM.

D.

Source Limitations for Automatic doors and windows: Obtain automatic doors and windows from
single source from single manufacturer.

Contractor is responsihle to provide the latest updated and developed materials available during
the construction period for all the specified items including all related procedures, manufacturing
and fabrication process, installation and workmanship.

Where discrepancy or conflict occurs between the materials to be used during the
construction period and the ones that were listed in the tendering and pricing process, the
latest technology will prevail under the condition of Engineer's approval to all materials
submittals and do not subject to extra cost.
Any material to be used during the construction period and that was not listed in the
tendering and pricing process, the latest technology is to be supplied under the condition of
Engineer's approval to this material submittal.

Electrical Components, Devices, and Accessories: Listed and labeled as defined in NFPA 70, by a
qualified testing agency, and marked for intended location and application.

of Project.

Electrical System Roughing-in: Coordinate layout and installation of automatic entrances with

WARRANTY
A.

Special Warranty: Manufacturer's standard fonn in which manufacturer agrees to repair or replace
components of automatic entrances that fail in materials or workmanship within sp~ified
warranty period.

Structural failures including, but not limited to, excessive deflection.
Faulty operation of operators, controls, and hardware.
Deterioration of metals, metal finishes, and other materials beyond nonnal
weathering and use.

maintenance, repair or replacement of worn or defective components, lubrication, cleaning, and
adjusting as required for proper automatic entrance operation at rated speed and capacity. Provide
parts and supplies the same as those used in the manufacture and inslallation of original
equipment.

General: Provide manufacturer's standard automatic windows and doors including doors, framing,
headers, door operators, activation and safety devices, and accessories required for a complete
installation.

Provide window and door operators, activation and safety devices of size recommended by
manufacturer for door size, weight, and movement; for condition of exposure; and for long-term,
maintenance-free operation under nonnal traffic load for type of occupancy_

Automatic operation of windows and swinging doors for Smoke Management System:

The smoke management system shall be directly controlled through the ftre alarm control
panel and flfcman's smoke control station (FSCS) specified in Division 16 Section "Fire
Detection, Voice Evacuation & Fireman's Telephone System". and monitored by means of
a stand-alone programmable logic unitary controller.
Smoke Management Operation Sequence:

In case of smoke, as sensed by the smoke detectors through the fire alarm control
system, the fire alann panel shall activate the smoke management operation as
follows:

Unlocking the electric windows and door locks where applicable.


Release of operable windows and doors, to be held open by associated
actuators.

The system will be triggered automatically by the smoke detectors through the fire
alarm control panel (FACP) or manually by the fireman's smoke control station
(FSCS) if required. Refer to Division 16 Section "Fire Detection, Voice Evacuation
& Fireman's Telephone System".
The contractor has to coordinate with the system supplier to provide the whole
system components/accessories like, but not limited to the following:

Molars (Drives/actuators (spindle) for each window and door opening and
closing actions.
Manual alanns release switches/push buttons.
Open-close indicators/monitors to indicate the status of each windows and
door.
System internal wiring from the controVpower supply panel(s) to each

be fire resistant type.

Electrical wiring shall be in accordance with manufacturer's standard


interconnection diagram, initial operation by factory assemblers or by
a service partner. Fire-rated cables shall be included with doors
supplier up to related power supply panels in electrical rooms.
Installation of fire-rated electric cables for connection between
emergency control unit and operable panels, in addition to fire-rated
cables between emergency control unit and related power supply
board shall be included with the operable panels' supplier.

Automatic Swing door drive to comply with the following and manufacturer's written
instructions:

Double leaf (inactive leaf only with door closing function) for smoke protection
doors shall be provided with continuous cover integrating a non visible closing
sequence controller, characterized as an electro-hydraulic door drive with
electromagnetic locking device including adjustable spring force.
Device to be preadjusted for connection to smoke detection system, hold-open time
adjustable from 0 - 60 seconds, tripping upon alann by smoke detection system or
self-sufficient tripping unit as per Engineer's approval.
Reset button shall be provided for operating status recovery after alarm release, with
latching action valve and set of assembly plates.
In the event of power failure, swing door shall operate manually.

FABRICATION

A.

General:

Factory fabricate automatic windows and doors components to designs, sizes, and

thicknesses indicated and to comply with specified standards.

Fonn aluminum shapes before finishing.

Weld in concealed locations to greatest extent possible to mmlmIze distortion or


discoloration of finish. Remove weld spatter and welding oxides from exposed surfaces by
descaling or grinding.
Use concealed fasteners to greatest extent possible. Where exposed fasteners are required,

3.3

FIELD QUALITY CONTROL


A.

Inspection:

Engage Installer's certified inspector to test and inspect automatic entrances and

prepare test and inspection reports.

Certified inspector shall test and inspect each automatic entrance to determine compliance
of installed systems with applicable BHMA standards.
Inspection Report: Certified inspector shall submit report in writing to Engineer and

Contractor within 24 hours after inspection.

Work will be considered defective ifit does not pass tests and inspections.

ADJUSTING

A.

Adjust door operators, controls. and hardware for smoolh and safe operation and for weathertight
closure; comply with requirements in BHMA Al 56.! O.

B.

Lubricate operating hardware and other moving parts as recommended by manufacturer.

C.

Readjust door operators and controls after repeated operation of completed installation equivalent
to 3 days' use by normal traffic (100 to 300 cycles). Lubricate hardware, operating equipment, and
other moving parts.

D.

Occupancy Adjustments: When requested within 12 months of date of Substantial Completion,


provide on-site assistance in adjusting system to suit actual occupied conditions. Provide up to
two visits to Project during other-than-nonnal occupancy hours for this purpose.

3.5

CLEANING AND PROTECTION

A.

Clean glass and metal surfaces promptly after installation. Remove excess glazing and sealant
compounds, dirt, and other substances. Repair damaged finish to match original finish.

Comply with requirements in Division 8 Section "Glazing" for cleaning and maintaining
glass.

DEMONSTRATION
A.

Engage a certified inspector to train Employer's maintenance personnel to adjust, operate, and
