AUDIO RECORDING STUDIO USE GUIDELINES

Booking Time
Read and submit a signed copy of the guidelines before booking studio time.
Booking weekly studio time is done during week 2 and is chosen by a lottery system.
Alternative bookings require the presence of a Studio Assistant AND a Manager and must be approved by the
Studio Facilities Manager: Grace Lee.
Maintain a log of your booked time.
You must have a valid student ID card to use the Audio Recording Studios.

Absence/Lateness
Attendance at studio time is part of your individual project grade.
2 Students are marked Late if they arrive more than five minutes after the session begins. Arrivals after
fifteen minutes forfeit their time to others at the discretion of the S.A.

General Information
During studio time, the S.A. has complete authority.
2 If you are not following the guidelines properly, or are abusing the studio in any way, the S.A. has the
power to terminate your session.
Eating, drinking or smoking is NOT permitted in the studios.
Long hair and dangling clothing must be tied back to prevent entanglement in the equipment.
5 Wash your hands before entering the studios. Clean hands help to prolong the life of the equipment, and
demonstrates professional courtesy to classmates.
6 Any abuse of the equipment, intentionally or unintentionally, will NOT be tolerated. If you damage or
misuse equipment, you will be held responsible for its repair or replacement.
7 Students must sign in and out EVERY session.

Signing Out Equipment


4.1 Reserve any gear stored in the office during the day if your studio time is after 5pm.

Gear can be reserved on a first come, first serve basis by filling out an Equipment/Microphone Request
Sheet.

The borrower whose name is listed on the Request Sheet will be responsible for its return.

If the drum hardware bag is requested, a license must be given as collateral.

Guest Policy
1 There are NO guests permitted in the studios during normal mixing sessions. While recording sessions
are in progress, only the studio group and the artist/band should be in the room with an S.A. supervising.
This rule is STRICTLY enforced.
2 Musicians/artists will sign in to the Visitor Form found in the Studio B Studio Time binder.

Complaints/Problems
1 If you have any complaints or problems during your studio use time, refer them first to your S.A. If you
are not satisfied with their solution, you may contact the on-duty Studio Manager, followed by the Studio
Facilities Manager: Grace Lee or any Audio Recording Professor: Prof. Lee, Prof. Dalia, Prof. Kuhl, or
Prof. Machado.

Ending Your Session


1 Begin to clean up ten minutes before the top of the hour, at which time you must leave promptly. This
will ensure the beginning of the next session on time.
BE SURE that the console is NORMALLED and that the studio is tidied up before leaving.
