Define Special characters for Project in SAP

Special characters for Project

You can define special characters by using one of the following navigation method.
Transaction code: OPSK
SAP IMG path: SPRO >IMG >Project system >Structure >Operative structure >
Work breakdown structure >Project coding mask >
Define special characters for project.
Step 1: Enter transaction code OPSK in the SAP command field and enter.

Step 2: On the special characters for project overview screen, update the following
fields.
1. PL (project length): Update the length of the project, it determines the length of the
project for both WBS elements and project definition. You can update maximum 5.
2. SL (Structure Length): If you select this field, the project structure length must be
equal to no of characters specified in PL.
3. Entry tool: Enter tool field is used for fast entry of WBS elements. For example
previous wbs is WBS1234502,
if you enter =3, then you get next wbs is WBS1234503.
4. SP (Special Character): Update the special characters in the SP fields, it helps WBS
number to be separated with Special characters.
5. EDIT: If you select this fields, you are able to create projects that are coding rules, if
you are not select this field you are able to create project that are associated to coding
rules.
6. Ano Automatic Number assignment: Update the symbol that you want to assign
automatically to project object and wbs elements.

Click on save button to save the configured data.

Project code masking

Project code masking helps how your project definition and WBS looks like.

You can define project code masking by using one of the following SAP navigation
method
SAP IMG path: SPRO >IMG (F5) >Project system >Structure >Operative structure >
Work breakdown structure >Project coding mask > Define project code masking
Transaction code: OPSJ
Step 1: Enter transaction code OPSJ in the SAP command field and enter.

Step 2: On the project number editing screen, click on New entries

Step 3: On the new entries screen, update the following fields.


1. Project Identifier: Update the ID that identifies the project identifier in SAP. It tages
in the next coding mask field. For example if you update x, the system uses that set of
number in all projects.
2. Coding mask: Update the coding mask data, this coding mask determines how the
project id look like when you create a project.
3. Description: Update the descriptive text of the project identifier.
4. Lck: Check this option if you want this coding mask for only projects that have
special importance and you can not create new projects with this coding mask.
5. Lks: Check this option if you want use coding mask for a standard projects.

Click on save button to save the configured project code masking data.

Create Status profile


The following training tutorials guides you how to create status profile in SAP step by
step. In our previous SAP training tutorials we have discussed about how to create
coding mask in SAP.

Access the status profile screen by using one of the following navigation method.
SAP IMG Path: SPRO >IMG (F5) >Project system >Structures >Operative structures
> Work breakdown structure >WBS user status >Create status profile
Transaction code: OK02
Step 1: Enter transaction code OK02 in the SAP command field and enter.

Step 2: On change status profile overview screen, click on create button to create new
status profile.

Step 3: A pop of window opens for new entries. Update the following fields.
1. Status profile: Update the new status profile ID that identifies the profile in SAP.
2. Text: Update the descriptive text of the profile.
3. Maintenance Language: Enter the language key, here we updated
EN(international English)
4. After maintaining all the details press enter to continue.

Step 4: On the next screen, double click on status profile that you have created in
previous screen.

Step 5: In next screen, update the following details.


1. Stat: Enter the status number from lowest to highest.
2. Status: Update the unique status ID
3. Short text: Update the descriptive text of the status
4. Initial status: Select this option to set the status of a profile for project is created.
5. Lowest: Update the lowest status number.
6. Highest: Update the highest status number.
7. Position: Update the position that determines the status should be displayed
8. Priority: Update the priority status to be displayed.
9. After maintain all the details, click on object types.

Step 6: In next screen, maintain the object types allowable for your project.

After maintaining all the status profile details click on save button to save the configured
data in SAP.
