Introduction:
This course addresses the need to understand and practice ethical
decision making in business environment. The course works on providing an
understanding of philosophical, behavioral and societal aspects of business
ethics, thereon linking them to the practical aspects of business activities. The
course is designed to help learners view the acts of agents through ethical
lens. It is expected that by the end of the course, learners would be inspired to
have a relook at the business manager as a moral agent who thinks critically
and acts ethically.
Course Objectives:
1) Sensitization: Enhance sensitivity towards ethical issues concerning
business organizations.
2) Conception: Envisage individuals, teams, and organizations as moral
agents.
3) Determination: Learn critical thinking skills for resolving ethical dilemmas
in business activities and practices.
4) Application: Develop expertise in application of ethical and moral
principles for building organizations of excellence in terms of their
concern for ethics, environment, and society.
Course Learning Outcomes (CLO):
By the end of the course, the learners should be able to:
1) Demonstrate the ability to describe the context of an ethical dilemma.

2) Demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate alternative solutions to
ethical problems.
(PLO 4A)
3) Demonstrate the ability to foresee and articulate possible impacts of
corporate decisions in terms of their ethical worth. (PLO 4B)
4) Demonstrate the ability to make moral judgments in light of dilemmatic
situations. (PLO 4B)

Course Content:
The present course curriculum is divided into two parts: foundational (pre
mid-term) and applied (post mid-term). Further, the sessions are divided into
six different modules: philosophical, behavioral, societal, functional,
professional, and corporate ethics. Details are provided under the heading
BSET (Course Outline).
Prescribed Text Book:
No Text Book. Selected readings to be provided on TAPMI
Intranet.
Policy on Plagiarism:
BSET course demands that an agent (whether person or group) follows
high ethical standards. The course therefore take a strong stance on
plagiarism. An agent who indulges in plagiarism shall attract severe
punishment. The punishment shall be decided by the concerned faculty on a
case-to-case basis, and may constitute any of the following:
1) Valuation of zero for the agents submission/presentation involving
plagiarism.
2) Negative marks
