WEATHERSFIELD, Vermont - His legs, rib cage

and jaw were broken, the car was dangerously hot, and
his wife was pleading with him to get out.
Alexander Romanow turned to his wife, Jane, who
was petrified with fear and pain in the front passenger
seat on Interstate 91 in Weathersfield. She had been
napping until she had been jolted awake when their car,
a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe, veered off into the median,
struck several trees head-on and slipped down a 10-foot
decline. Their dog, Buddy, was in the backseat. Police
believe Alexander fell asleep at the wheel around 9:30
a.m.
I love you, Alexander, 79, a Brick native and founder of Als Auto Care, said to her. Please get out of the
car.
Jane, 75, wasnt letting go so easily. She insisted he
get out, too.
I cant, Alexander said. The steering wheel and
mangled dashboard pushed down on his broken legs
and pinned him to the seat. You get out. You have to get
out. He told her he loved her again and again.
They were the last words he told his wife.
But it wont be the last message Alexander Romanow gives. His son, Chris Romanow ,is going public

Donald Trump greets supporters outside of Trump Towers in Manhattan on Saturday. The Trump campaign has faced
numerous calls for him to step aside after a recording from 2005 revealed lewd comments Trump made about women.

At the insistence of his wife, Daniel Leonard pulled

the Donald Trump campaign sign out of his lawn on Saturday.
The 40-year-old Army combat veteran from Beachwood, who is running for a seat on the Toms River Regional Board of Education this November, quipped that
he was trying to maintain the peace under his roof.
Hes still backing the Republican nominee for president; not so his wife, Michelle Leonard, 40. She called
Trumps crude, caught-on-tape comments the straw
that broke the camels back.
The mother of two teenage daughters ages 17 and
15 said Trumps remarks were reprehensible. He
wont be getting her vote.
Similar denouncements rained down on the GOP
nominee following the release Friday of a 2005 recording that captured Trump in all his glory. Harsh criticisms came from ordinary citizens, Democrats, and
even some top Republican leaders, including Sen. John
McCain, R-Arizona, who withdrew his Trump support.
