CERTIFICATE PROGRAM IN

Construction Management
The Certificate Program in Construction Management provides thorough preparation for effective leadership
in the field, including work for major projects (large office buildings and facilities infrastructures) and
smaller-scale projects (residential and small offices). Learn the regulatory, insurance, management, safety,
estimating and environmental aspects necessary for a projects overall planning and control. Gain problemsolving skills to determine costs, establish schedules and apply time-value-of-money concepts to effectively
evaluate alternatives. In addition to interpreting construction-material properties and standards, you acquire
perspectives on emerging issues in the field. With a curriculum overseen by an advisory board of industry and
education leaders and approved by the University of California, Berkeley, College of Engineering, you are assured
of a relevant, up-to-date education.

Prerequisites for Admission


There are no formal prerequisites for the Certificate Program
in Construction Management, but a bachelors degree or
previous construction experience is recommended.
Curriculum and Completion Requirements
The curriculum comprises 5 core courses (10 semester units)
and 60 hours of electives (24 courses) for a total of 14 semester units (210 hours of instruction). Candidates must pay a
nonrefundable certificate registration fee.
You must take all courses for a letter grade. To receive the
certificate, you must maintain a grade point average (GPA) of
3.0, with a grade of C or better in each course. A Certificate
With Distinction will be awarded to those who complete the
certificate with a GPA of 3.7 or higher.
You must complete all coursework within five years of registering for the certificate. However, requirements may be updated
based on new developments in the field; we recommend
completing the curriculum in a timely fashion.
