WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 46-48; 1 Timothy 2
Wednesday, October 12
2 Cor. 6:7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness
on the right hand and on the left,
Heavenly Father:
I see so many today who only profess to be Christians, yet are not
possessors of Christ. What will their latter end be if you do not let me breakthrough with the gospel soon?
Some respectfully attend a church, but go because others do, not because
their heart is right with you. That is their beginning. For many years they have
been spared to go on as they do right now, professing religion through an
outward attendance, but not really having their heart in it. In the latter end they will
have no hope. They will fear to stand before your face.
Lord I offer this prayer with sincere emotion. Help me even this week layout the gospel to some soul in distresswhether they recognize that distress or
not. Let them grab the rope before they sink. Let them not close their eyes in
death, only to open them in punishment (Luke 16:23). Take away the blindness so
they can lift up their eyes and see you, before then. Do not let them sleep under
my preaching at them, and do not let me sleep-away the opportunity to preach!
Lord help them really believe, and not merely accept a set of doctrines. Let
me be clear with them that to believe is to trust, to depend, to rely on, and to rest
in Christs finished work. Let them cast the whole weight and stress of their souls
salvation on Jesus and his cross, alone. If faith is absent then sacraments, prayers,
church membership and attendance will not work, because the essential thing is
lacking. Their believing or not settles the matter of salvation.
Lord let them look away from self to Jesus for righteousness, because if
they do, they are saved! And let me not be shy to use the word grace in giving
the gospel. I ask it to Jesus glory, for I know he did not die in vain. Amen.
Song of Solomon 2:16 My beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the
John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and
that your joy might be full.

lilies.
The shadow of a mighty rock within a weary land;
As to the holy patriarch that wondrous dream was given,
So seems my Saviors cross to me, a ladder up to heaven.
There lies beneath its shadow but on the further side
The darkness of an awful grave that gapes both deep and wide
And there between us stands the cross two arms outstretched to save
A watchman set to guard the way from that eternal grave.
Upon that cross of Jesus mine eye at times can see
The very dying form of One Who suffered there for me;
And from my stricken heart, with tears, two wonders I confess;
The wonders of redeeming love and my unworthiness.
I take, O cross, thy shadow for my abiding place;
I ask no other sunshine than the sunshine of His face;
Content to let the world go by to know no gain or loss,
My sinful self my only shame, my glory all the cross.
Lord of Revival:
Help me do as Christ would do! Help me think as Christ would think! Help
me feel as Christ would feel, or else not be swayed by my feelings. Make Christ all
in all to me, so I can be armored by him and made impervious to the arrows of
the enemy. Amid the darts of temptation keep me balanced and unblameable.
Psa. 89:18 For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.
Your word teaches I will meet with a mix of conflict, service, and suffering
as long as I live. Help me put on the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 13:14) and I will be
ready for anything, in all conditions, and able to meet all requirements.
Rom. 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto
the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lords.
My sanctification is a long and winding roadthat is why I need revival
right now! You left me here on the battlefield so I can stand, and by standing
win more souls for you. Help me live unto the Lord so I can bring others to know
his love. Make me a sower of good seed as part of revival. Help me break-up
fallow ground in my own heart and others. Make me a worthy ambassador and
herald of the gospel. Help me make sure my life answers to your Eternal Purpose!
Aid me by your Spirit to live with energy, usefulness, joyousness, and holiness, as
workers together with him (2 Cor. 6:1). Make me a blessing today!
Col. 3:2-4 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are
dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then
shall ye also appear with him in glory.
So I set Jesus on the throne of my heart this moment by faith. Amen.
O Gracious Lord:
You deserve my confidence, so I want you to have it all. Every day, help me
guard against any distrust of you or any reliance on myself. Every hour I need to
place my faith in your faithfulness. Selahstop and think about that!
Not only must I rest and rely on you like a person stands on a rock; I must
also trust in you like a person hides in a cave. And my trust will be made more
solid the more intimate I am with you.
I may be weak, but I am in a strong place! My security rests in the strength
of the tower in which I hide, and not in any other man or woman. My weakness
does not work against me as long as it makes me lean more fully on you.
The drawbridge is up and the bars are in place, and there is a secret door by
which I can enter into your throne room as often as I want, because I can always
pray. You are as accessible as you are strong on my behalf!
Psa. 71:3 Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast
given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.
Are you a strong refuge? You are MY strong refuge. You are MY rock, MY
fortress, MY God (v 4), MY hope, MY trust (v 5), MY praise (v 6). If I am
strong, it is in you. If I am safe, it is because you shelter me. If I am calm and at
peace, it is because my soul has found its resting place of security in you.
Psa. 71:14 But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.
When I cannot rejoice in what I have, I will look forward to what will be
mine, and rejoice in the future blessing. Though Hell itself stands in my way,
Psa. 71:16 I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy
righteousness, even of thine only.

HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 8:00, 9:00 & 11:00A.M.

OCTOBER 9, 2016
PRAYER DIARY
TIMEWORSHIP
Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and
departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is
to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily
devotions.
2)
TITHEWORK
1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God
hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions
asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come
off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the
firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our
resources.
3)
TEAMWORD
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship
with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.
If you have love enough, you can, by Gods Grace, win any man to Jesus. If
his heart is as hard as a diamond, then you must have a purpose twice as hard as a
diamond and you will yet cut him to his heart! Oh to be willing to die if others
may be saved from the eternal death! God give us just such a spirit as that! This
should be our constant feeling - how else can we become like Christ? If we have
this spirit it will save us from selfishness.
This spirit will also keep you from very many other griefs. Some people are
always fretting for need of something to fret about. No people are more uneasy
than those who have nothing to do and nothing to think about! Such persons
keep a little growlery in the house and use it as a trouble factory where they
invent grievances. There are people I know of who ought to be as merry as the
birds of the morning and yet they are always worrying and stewing about nothing
at all.
The best way to kill one grief is to introduce another. John Foster wrote of
the expulsive power of a new affection, and I want you to experience it. Get
love for the souls of men - then you will not be whining about a dead dog, or a
sick cat, or about the conceits of a family. You will be delivered from petty
worries if you are concerned about the souls of men!
When certain persons come to me with their sentimental sorrows, I wish the
Lord would fill them with the love of souls and make their hearts break with
anxiety for their conversionthen would their griefs be of a nobler sort. You
would no longer weep over a mole hill if you began to move mountains! Get your
soul full of a great grief and your little griefs will be driven out.
You cannot force yourself to this, but when the Spirit of God has brought
you to it, you will pray day and night for those whom you love! May we be deeply
pained by that dread, awful, overwhelming, horrifying thought of souls being lost
forever! May the Lord plow your soul deep, dear Friend! If He means you to be a
soul-winner, He will. May the plowers make deep furrows upon your heart, as
once they did upon your Masters back! You are not fit to carry souls on your
heart till it has been bruised with grief for them. You must feel deeply for the
souls of men if you are to bless them.
You must love before you can plead! You will labor for their good in
proportion as you feel for them. I do not think that I can ask a better thing for
the unconverted than that the converted may be in heaviness over them! You
must have such a concern for a man that you feel even if you could not say
anything, still, you could put your hand on his shoulder and blurt out, Friend, I
am concerned about your salvation. The evident concern of your spirit will be
one of God's ways of touching the hearts of others. I suppose His Spirit has used
deep emotion more than almost any other instrument in arousing careless minds.
The multitude still clung to the skirts of Jesus, even to the last, because they
saw that He really desired their good. The earth is held together by the force of
attraction and to the men upon it that same power is exercised by love and
compassion. If you are resolved that you will move Heaven and earth that some
soul shall feel the power of the Gospel and if you will go with mighty prayer and
invoke the aid of the Divine Spirit, I do not see that you can fail. You must do
good if you have but love enough and heart enough!
Charles Spurgeon, Concern for Souls, 1878
INSTRUCTIONS:
Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to
God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you
through the Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.
Alan
Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the
time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
