Timedurationoffault3seconds?Loweststandardratingforgroundingequipmentis10seconds,nextis1minute.
RoughapproximationofKVAratingisVxIxf,whereVisphasegroundvoltageinkV,Iisthefaultcurrentandfisthe
continuousratingfactor:f=3%for10secrating,7%foroneminuterating.
Fora1000ampgroundfaultonthe34.5kVsystem,witha10secondrating,thekVAwouldbe:
(34.5/1.732)x1000Ax.03=597.5=600kVA.
So,if1000Aisthephasegroundfaultcurrent,thegroundingtransformershouldbeatleast600kVA.
