Yarn 4 ply worsted weight

Size of purse 6 /12 x 6. Use a larger hook if you want the purse larger
Hook H and I
Color yarn
CA royal blue
CB bright yellow
CC black
CD white
CE gray

Stitch pattern
sc - single crochet
hdc- half double crochet

CA
Row 1 chain 23, turn and sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc to end and add 4 sc in last ch.
continue around the chain and sc in each ch back to the beg and add sc to complete
until there are 50 sc around the chain, slip st to beg sc.

Row 2 ch 1 sc in each sc around (50) sl st to join.

Row 3-5 ch 2 hdc in each sc around (50) sl st to join. In row 5 join next color

Row 6-11 ch 2 hdc in each st around sl st to join. In row 11 join next color

Row 12 ch 2 hdc in each st around, join next color

Row 13-16 ch 2 hdc in each st around, sl st to join.

Handle

Chain 80 or desired length. Join with a slip stitch at the half point of purse. Turn and sl st
down the chain back to beginning. Join with sl st at the other end. Cut yarn and weave
in the ends.

Eyes

Hook. Use the next smaller size for the eyes.

CD white
One eye. Larger than two eyes.

Row 1 With the magic circle at beginning make 10 sc and join.

Row 2 2 hdc in each of the 10 sc. Sl st to join ch 1 (20 hdc)
Row 3 *1 sc in next hdc, 2 sc in next hdc, repeat * around (30 sc) change color for last
row CE gray.
Row 4 Sc in each sc but in reverse. Making the edge stand out and leaves a very nice
edge. See directions below:

Two eyes. Make smaller than one eye.

Row 1 With the magic circle at beginning make 10 sc and join.

Row 2 2 sc in each of the 10, sl st to join ch 1 (20 sc)
Row 3 *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat * around (30 sc) cut yarn and join
CE gray for Last row
Row 4 Sc in each sc but in reverse. Making the edge stand out and leaves a very nice
edge.

Eye
CC black
Start with a Magic circle

Make 10 sc in circle join, cut yarn long enough to sew on white part of the eye. For the
two smaller eyes make 7 sc in the circle.

Sew on the eye or eyes on purse. The eyes should be centered using the black row as
the center vertically and horizontally. If making the purse with two eyes, the two gray
rows should be touching each other then center them accordingly. Embroidery a smile
underneath the eyes, either make a full smile or a half smile. If you wish, line your
purse. Finally, attach a Velcro circle as a closure. I usually use fabric glue to the Velcro
for security.

Phone bag

Use H hook

You can also make a smaller version of the purse to fit your phone or anything else you
want to have it for.

Row 1 chain 11 sc in 2nd ch and make a sc to end and put 2 more sc in end ch, go
around ch and sc in each st back to beg and put 2 more sc, ending with 24 sc total.

Repeat the purse pattern on these 24 stitches.

Final row. Sc around until you reach the center st in the back side of your bag. Chain
10 for the button loop and sl st in same st as your last sc then sc across to beg st, join
and cut yarn. Sew a small button in the middle of front side.

Eye(s)
Use F hook

Make the eye same as purse except make all rows sc.

Center of eye (black yarn)
Magic circle make 7 sc and join.

If you are making two eyes, omit row 3 and reduce the black circle to 4 sc.

Embroidery on the smile underneath the eye(s).
