2. Methodology
A set-up composed of a bar magnet, a galvanometer, a compass, two
solenoids of varied diameters, a power supply, wire connectors, an iron
rod, and an aluminum rod was set-up.
Current direction was first determined by connecting one terminal of the
galvanometer with the negative terminal of the power supply. The
remaining terminals of each device were attached to separate wires and
assured to not be connected to each other, keeping the circuit open. After
which, the power supply was turned on and set to 1.5V. The circuit was
then closed (or completed) by attaching the remaining terminals of each
device to opposite poles of a large resistor, in this case, a human body. By
determining whether the galvanometer would display a reading going
towards the left or right, whereas, a reading which would favor a negative
display would account for the current entering the negative terminal of
the galvanometer and vice-versa.
