The UKFPO and HEE West Midlands are joining forces to bring
back the Annual Foundation Careers Event for 2016.
Registration is free but places are limited, register now to avoid
disappointment.
The conference is aimed at all those involved in the provision of foundation careers advice and planning
including educational supervisors who want to learn more about this topic to augment their role. (The day
will provide evidence of CPD in the GMC/AME domains supporting and monitoring educational progress,
and guiding personal and professional development). The event will also be of interest to Foundation
doctors, particularly those interested in academic and leadership career pathways and in general practice.
The conference will consist of a range of plenary presentations and workshops, along with a poster
exhibition. Topics will include:

The future of the NHS workforce

HEE and clinical training

Junior doctor morale

Careers in medical leadership and academia

GP recruitment

Advice and tips on supporting trainees to make good careers decisions

Careers advisors who wish to offer a 35 minute workshop to augment the day are welcome to do so and
will be allocated a timeslot if demand permits. Please email Anthony.Choules@burtonft.nhs.uk and

Posters
We are currently inviting submissions of abstracts for posters from medical students, foundation doctors
and faculty members to showcase examples of innovative practice in the field of medical careers and
evidence that will be of use to those providing careers advice. Abstracts will be assessed against the
following four criteria:

Clear description of the issue

The methods used to address the issue

The results/outcome measures

Key messages
To submit your abstract please complete the attached abstract form, and return to
Anthony.Choules@burtonft.nhs.uk and Lara.Raworth@burtonft.nhs.uk by Friday 30 September 2016.
All posters exhibited during the day will be entered into the poster competition. Abstracts will be displayed
on the UKFPO website following the conference.
