Teenage Suicide

Statement of ProblemSuicide is the act or an instance

of taking one's
own life voluntarily and
intentionally
due
to
conflicting factors in ones life. It is a
prevalent
problem in todays society especially
amongst
adolescents. Although suicide may
be an independent choice, its effects can
play
out
in
a number of different ways; one of which
being
its
effects on peers when talking about
teenage
suicide.
We seem to underestimate the fact that
one
teenage
suicide can cause of ripple of negative
effects
amongst fellow peers. In todays society there is
some
effort
put
into the counselling of student in school
where
a
teenage suicide has taken place, however,
the
true
impact of this issue is yet to be truly
divulged.
In
summary, we can say that the intent of this
study
is
to raise awareness of the collateral
damage
that
a
teenage suicide can do have another
adolescent
and

and

in what aspects in Queens Royal College

Bishops
Anstey High School Port of Spain.

Problem StatementTo evaluate the impact of Teenage

Suicide
has
on
adolescent behaviour between the ages of
15-18
in
Queens Royal College and Bishops Anstey
High
School Port of Spain.
Research Questions- 1) How does a teenage suicide affect
the
behaviours
of an adolescent?
2) To what extent can we say that a
teenage
suicide
can have a detrimental effect on another
adolescent?
3) What aspects of an adolescents life is
affected
by
teenage suicide?
Purpose of ResearchI chose this topic of study due to the
recent
increase in teenage suicides within
Trinidad
friends

and Tobago, two of which being close

of
mine. The purpose of this study is to

highlight
the
suicide

collateral damage a teenage

can
have on other adolescents in different

aspects
of their lives, and in doing so, hope to
increase
the awareness in different schools of

the
can
action
could

negative effects a teenage suicide

have
on
its student and to take all necessary
to
prevent collateral damage which
be
too
big of a problem later on if not dealt

with
immediately.
Educational ValueThe study will provide readers
with
access
to
the knowledge of the psychological effects
that
a
teenage suicide can have on an
adolescent
and
how that affects their performance in
other
areas of their life, thus proving to
have
a
high
educational value. Also, adolescents
who
are
having suicidal thoughts may see the
repercussions of their actions and
think
twice
before committing. It can also be used
by
schools when making a presentation
to
their
students on the awareness of teenage
suicides.
