Bible Reading: John 7:37-44; 2 Pet. 1:1-11; Job 1; Ezekiel 1-3

In John 9:4 Jesus tells His disciples that they must work
the works of God. This command encompasses Christians
today as His disciples. The time for evangelistic work is
now. We would encourage you to identify an unbeliever in
your life who you will regularly pray for and seek to share
the gospel with.

Romans 12:2 says Do not be conformed to this world,

but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. There
is a depth of clarity here for us: a positive command and
a negative command. Do not go in that direction. Go in
this direction. Not that way, this way. If the Lord takes
the time to be twice as clear with us, let us take the time
to be twice as attentive. Do not be conformed to this
world is the negative command which warns us of the
treacherous danger of this life: to become like the world
in which we are so immersed. The world would seek to
press us into is mold: its systems of thinking, its ways of
operation, its heart-motives and its flesh-desires. The
great temptation of this life is that we walk by sight rather than by faith: that we begin to believe what we see in
this world more than what we hear from the voice of our
Creator. Like a command of protection from a father, do
not walk near the edge of that cliff, we hear the voice
of our heavenly father say, Do not be conformed to this
world. Let us take heed for our safety.

Tuesday

Thursday

Bible Reading: John 7:25-36; 1 Pet. 5:8-14; Song of Sol. 8:8-14; Lam. 4-5

Bible Reading: John 7:45-53; 2 Pet. 1:12-21; Job 2; Ezekiel 4-8

In 1 Peter 5:8 reminds us that a believer must not live carelessly. Christians are to be sober-minded and are to be watchful. The Christian must stay alert because of the outside, evil
forces that come against them. Peter explains this when he
states: Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring
lion, seeking someone to devour. Pray and ask the Lord for
sober-mindedness, steadfastness, self-control, and clarity of
mind so that you might Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing
that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by
your brotherhood throughout the world, 1 Peter 5:9.

Be transformed is the positive command of Romans

12:2. You ought to immediately ask, how am I to be transformed? The means of our transformation is given in the
same verse. Be transformed bythe renewing of your
mind. We know that the renewing of our mind takes place
as we behold the glory of the Lord in scripture and his
word has its purifying effect on us (Ps 19:7-11, 2 Cor 3:18,
and Psalm 119). We must remind ourselves constantly that
this transformation is not simply a fleshly striving to attain
to a standard; not just a list-keeping obedience. It is a
glory-beholding internal transformation. Even in this verse,
the word used for transformation is the same word used
of Jesus on the Mount of transfiguration. Jesus transformation there was not a human doing, but a divine shining
of glory. So too is our transformation: as we see the image
of God and His glory in the person of Christ in his word,
we are being transformed into the same image from one
degree of glory to another. Therefore, we ought to go to
the word daily, seeking to live according to its commands
because we have seen the glory of his face that will transform us from the inside out.
