An experienced design engineer having over 6 years experience of active construction
supervision, feasibility and detailed design assessments, preparation of bidding documents and
technical specifications, design review, project planning, implementation and experience of mega
and mini hydropower projects.

CAREER SUMMARY
May 2016 to Date, Gates Engineer, Associated Consulting Engineers Pvt. Ldt, Lahore,
Pakistan
Tarbela 4th extension project 1410 MW JV (Mott MacDonald UK and Coyne et Bellier France) is
US$ 840 Million, World Bank funded project which involves constructing a power house,
modifying a tunnel and installing three 470 MW power units.
Working on the project and looking after erection/installation and construction of mechanical
equipment in progress which includes erection/installation of generating units, 500 KV switchyard
installation activities, gantry crane installation and site tests of gantry cranes (600/50 ton), stay
ring assembly, pressure pipes, Eot cranes (600/50/10 tons), embedment of draft tube gates and
barge. Successfully supervised the replacement of damaged rubber seals of already existing
gates.

As mechanical engineer, I have worked on design and design review of hydro mechanical works
on several hydropower projects with the firm. A brief summary is given below:
Jamshill - Turenmore Hydropower Project (260 MW)
Responsible for design criteria, detailed design report, drawings and cost estimate for the
hydraulic steel structures. Assignment was completed successfully before time and was
presented to client and approved. Main project facilities consists of power intake, bottom outlet,
under sluices, sandtrap, sediment flushing, draft tubes and tail race.
Hydraulic steel structures designed for the project are as follows:
Intake gates and Stoplogs: 5 Nos. of 7.5m wide x 9 m high x 16 m head, fixed wheel
Intake movable trashracks: 7.5 m wide x 2.8 m slant height (5 No)
Bottom outlet gates and stoplogs: 6 Nos. of 6 m wide x 4 m high x 25 m head
Under sluice gates and stoplogs: 5 Nos. of 7 m wide x 5 m high x 28 m head
Sandtrap gates: 10 Nos. of 7 m wide x 4.5 m high x 9.9 m head
Sediment Flushing gates: 30 Nos. of 1.25 m wide x 1 m high x 6.30 m head
Draft tube gates: 4 Nos. of 5.6 m wide x 6.8 m high x 95 m head
Tailrace Pond gates and stoplogs : 3 Nos. 5.5 m wide x 7 m high x 6 m design head

Turen More Kari Hydropower Project (350 MW):


Was responsible for design criteria, detailed design report, drawings and cost estimate for the
metal works. Project facilities includes headrace, draft tubes, by pass channel and penstocks.
Hydraulic steel structures designed for the project are as follows:
Headrace Tunnel trashracks: 2 Nos. 7.5 m wide x 3 m slant height
Draft tube gates: 8 Nos. 5.2 m wide x 3.3 m high x 17 m design head
Bypass channel stoplogs: 3 Nos. 5.5 m wide x 7 m high x 6 m design head
Penstock gate: 1 Nos. 8.9 m wide x 8.9 m high x 57 m design head
Jabori Hydropower Project (10.2 MW):
Evaluated, reviewed electromechanical equipments specifications and construction stage level-2
design of hydraulic steel structures for the project which consists of tyrolean intake, gravel trap
flushing, sandtrap inlet pond U/D & D/S, and sandtrap flushing.
Hydraulic steel structures reviewed for project are as follows:
Tyrolean Intake gate: 1 Nos. of 2.5 m wide x 2 m high, slide gate
Gravel trap flushing gate: 1 Nos. of .8 m wide x .8 m high, slide gate
Sandtrap (Inlet pound) U/S : 2 Nos. of 1.9 m wide x 2.3 m high, slide gate

Under sluice gates: 3 Nos. of 8 m wide x 3 m high x 2.5 m head.
Head regulator gates : 4 Nos. of 2.5 m wide x 1 m high x 1.5 m head
Sediment excluder gates : 4 Nos. of 2.05 m wide x 3.5 m high x .95 m head
Sediment flushing gates : 8 Nos. of .6 m wide x .6 m high x 7.8 m head
Forebay gates: 1 Nos. of 2.7 m wide x 2.7 m high x 8.2 m head
Tailrace Pond gates: 3 Nos. 2.5 m wide x 1.5 m high x 1.8 m design head
Balkani Hydropower Project (7.75 MW):
Deputed to provide technical consultancy on feasibility level and detailed design of hydraulic
steel structures and turbines on the project. Project consists of tyrolean intake, gravel trap, sand
trap, and draft tube facilities. Project consist of two horizontal shaft turbines.
Major metal works done on project are as follows:
Tyrolean intake gate : 1 Nos. of 2.28 m wide x 1.76 m high
Gravel trap gate : 1 Nos. of .6 m wide x .66 m high
Sand trap gate : 1 Nos. of .9 m wide x .9 m high
Draft tube gate : 2 Nos. of 3 m wide x 1.6 m high
Horizontal Francis turbine : 2 Nos. of 3.875 MW
Barandoo Hydropower Project (6.5 MW):
Successfully drafted inception report for mechanical works on the project.

Dasu Hydropower Consultants JV (Nippon Koei Japan & Dolsar Turkey) was a USD 4.278
Billion, World Bank funded 4320 MW hydropower project:
Successfully accomplished the design criteria, detailed design, design report, bid documents,
technical specifications and detailed drawings for hydraulic steel structure works on the project
under supervision of Chief Mechanical engineer. Project consists of design of gates for intake
facilities, low level outlet facilities, tailrace facilities, and diversion facilities. Being a part of a
consortium of renowned partners, I have successfully completed the design of spillway radial

gates (16.5 m wide x 21.4 m high) which are one of its kind in the world and already approved by
client and project is currently in construction phase.

Khan Khwar hydropower project 72 MW was a USD 160 million Islamic development Bank
funded 72 MW hydropower project.
Worked as a part of the E&M team of DongFong in construction supervision of
erection/installation and commissioning of hydropower project, scope of work includes installation
and commissioning of vertical francis turbines 2x32 MW, horizontal shaft pelton turbine 4 MW,
switchyard equipment, 11 KV transmission lines, powerhouse OHTC, HVAC systems, electro
mechanical site tests of generating units, transformers, handling and taking over, site
coordination meetings, EOT claims meeting with employers and engineers, and managing day to
day site project staff and activities.
