A projectile is launched at an angle of 300 with respect to

horizontal. The initial velocity is 45 ms-1.

(a)
Determine the horizontal and vertical component of the
initial velocity.
(b)
Calculate the maximum height of the projectile and the
time taken to
vvvvvvvvvv
reach the position.
(c)

Calculate the horizontal range

An object is launched at 30o from a 30.8 m building with an initial

velocity 23.8 ms-1 . Calculate the
a) horizontal displacement from the building.
b) velocity of the object just before it strikes the ground

A steel ball with mass 40.0 g is dropped from a height of 2.00 m
onto a
horizontal steel slab. The ball rebounds to a height of 1.60
m.
a) Calculate the impulse delivered to the ball during impact.
b) If the ball is in contact with the slab for 2.00 ms,
determine the average force on the ball during impact.
ANS.: 0.47 N s; 237. 1 N

A golf ball (m = 46.0 g) is struck with a force that makes an

angle of 45 with the horizontal. The ball lands 200 m away on a
flat fairway. If the golf club and ball are in contact for 7.00 ms,
calculate the average force of impact. (Neglect the air
resistance.)
ANS.: 293 N
