GENERAL INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES
1.

The applicants should possess the essential and desirable


Qualifications and Experience as on the last date for submission of
application. Degree Qualifications prescribed should have been
obtained after passing SSLC/10th, HSC,Bachelor's Degree.

Applicants are required to forward their applications (8 copies with


enclosures) in the prescribed form containing full particulars viz.,

Proof of age with an attested copy of the first page of SSLC Book;
Qualifications, degrees (with year/years of passing and University in
which the degrees were taken);

of recent testimonials;
(vi) Name of three persons to whom a reference can be made;

or by courier mail and the envelope containing the applications should

on the left hand Top Corner. The last date for the receipt of the
completed application is -------------------. Submission beyond 5.00
p.m is not entertained. The University is not responsible for any
postal delay/ loss in transit of the application. The completed
application may also be dropped in the box at the University Tapal
Section at the administrative building of the University.

Video Conferencing: Candidates applying from abroad may attend


the interview through Video Conferencing on remitting Rs.10,000/towards arrangements for Video Conferencing. The amount may be
paid in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Registrar on
receiving the interview card.

Applications incomplete in any manner and those received after


the due date will be summarily rejected.

Enquiry towards acknowledgement of applications will not be


entertained.

Professor:
An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the
concerned/allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality,
actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a
minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.

A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in University/College,


and/or experience in research at the University/National level
institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for
research at doctoral level.
Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and
courses, and technology mediated teaching learning process.
A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator
(API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in
UGC Regulation.
OR
An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the relevant
field, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the
concerned / allied / relevant discipline, to be substantiated by
credentials.
Associate Professor:
Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the
/allied/relevant disciplines.

A Master's Degree with at least 55% marks ( or an equivalent grade in


a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and /or research in
an academic/ research position equivalent to that of Assistant
Professor in a University. College or accredited Research
Institution/industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with
evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books
and/or research/policy papers.

evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students.

Assistant Professor:
Good academic record as defined by the concerned University with at
least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever
grading system is followed) at the Master's Degree level in a relevant
subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an
accredited foreign University.
Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have
cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC,
CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET
(OR)

Ph.D Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission


(Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) as
per UGC Regulations shall be exempted from the requirement of the
minimum eligibility conditions of NET/SLET/SET.
NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters
Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.

11.

The period of time spent by the candidates to acquire M.Phil., & Ph.D
Degree shall not be considered as teaching/ Research experience to
be claimed for appointment to the teaching position.

12.

Candidates applying for the post of Professor and Associate Professor


are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess
the minimum API (Academic Performance Indicator) Scores
prescribed minimum essential qualification as well as the
specialization for desirable qualifications etc. and attach API Score
details as per the UGC format with evidence thereon.

13.

If qualified and suitable candidates belonging to SC(Aruntathiar) are


not available the post reserved for SC (Aruntathiar) will be filled up
with other SC candidates on merit basis.

14.

The University reserves the right to modify/withdraw/ cancel any


communication made to the candidate(s) at any stage in case of any
inadvertent mistake in the processes of selection may be detected
even after issue of appointment orders.

15.

The Syndicate reserves the right to fill or not to fill up the post without
assigning any reason whatsoever although recommended by the
Selection Committee. In the matter of recruitment the decision of the
Syndicate is final and any representation against non-selection will not
be entertained under any circumstances.

16.

Staff recruited are covered under new Contributory Pension Scheme


based on defined Contribution (G.O. (MS) No.395 of Finance
(Educational -1) Department dated 16.09.2003.

17.

Those who are already in pensionable service shall come under the
old pension scheme if the same is properly transferred to this
University.

18.

Service rules are governed by the rules of Government of Tamil Nadu


University/UGC.

19.

Knowledge of Tamil is desirable.

20.

Candidates should necessarily fill in the information regarding pending


court cases, criminal cases, disciplinary actions or equivalent etc. In
the relevant column of the application form. Any changes in this

information as and when occurred after the submission of application


form till the completion of recruitment process should be brought to the
notice of the university by the candidate, failing which the University
reserves the right to cancel the candidature and to debar from all
selections.

Candidates who satisfy the above requirements may download the


application form from the University website and apply to the Registrar

designation only ) along with the D.D for Rs.1,000/- (Rs. 500/- in the
case of SC (A)/SC/ST/PWD candidates)
towards the cost of
application. The DD shall be drawn in favour of the Registrar,
