Discussion: Stress Resources

Overview
When doing academic papers, it's important to get used to finding reliable sources, conducting research, creating
summaries of your research (to avoid plagiarism) and citing your sources. This discussion will help you get started
on the research you will need to do for your Project 3: Case Study Analysis.

Directions
Think of some topics to research for the case study and use PCC Library Resources or informative websites to
conduct your research. Some search term ideas to get you started:

Test Anxiety

College Students and Anxiety

Self-Efficacy

Anxiety Reduction

Hit the reply button, below.

2.

Upload a URL if from an informative website or include the citation in APA format if from a PCC Library
Database resource. (Many of the PCC Database resources include a ready-made citation to help you.)
Remember at least one of your sources needs to be from the PCC Library. Include in your post a brief
summary of the resource (1-2 paragraphs each) and a description explaining why you chose the site.

3.

For each summary you should also create a thought question, that is, a question asking others to think
about/respond to the topic. A thought question example (you will need to make your own up, though!):

This article suggested that x technique helps students, what other methods do you think would....

For your Response to at least 2 classmates due by Sunday, 11:59 PM:

2.

Ask for clarification (that is, ask questions) if needed.

Respond to at least one of the thought questions posted, adding your own personal perspective, experience
and/or ideas.

The article that I have decided to pick really interested me because it explains who are the ones
to actually experience test anxiety. Evaluations were done on 187 undergraduate college
students through Spielberger's Test Anxiety Inventory then afterwards were divided into
gender and high/low achiever results. It then explained how both men and women are complete
opposites when it comes to test anxiety. High achieving women and low achieving men are prone
to developing high test anxiety levels more than low achieving women and high achieving men.
There are many reasons stated in the article for which students may experience more anxiety
than others. For example, students with high anxiety levels find exams threatening so it causes
them to experience that anxiety, while the others don't. After reading this article I would have
personally never thought that anxiety was determined based on ones achievement goals and
levels. Overall the article is very informative in explaining who are the ones
to experience anxiety and why.
Question
When it comes to test anxiety do you consider yourself a high or low achiever and why?
